Welcome to jane studio o my name is jen, and today we're going to talk about sixteen different types of emotions as well as some useful grammar tips so that you can express your feelings in english. Another word for your feelings in english is your emotions, emotions and feelings have the same meaning in english. For this lesson today, we're going to take a look at sixteen different types of feelings. We're going to look at negative feelings and then the opposite feelings. That would be a positive feeling. The first feeling I want to look at today is tired. So if you feel tired and you really just want to go to sleep, you could also say that you are sleepy. And if you're really, really tired, you could use the word exhausted. I'm so exhausted. I'm just so tired. Number two, the opposite of feeling tired or exhausted would be to feel energetic and cheerful. This means you feel like you have a lot of energy. Everything's great. You can take on the world. I'm so energetic today. Expression number three is to be angry or mad. You can also say that you are disgusted with something, or if you're super angry, you might even say that you are outraged. I am outraged by this. I'm absolutely disgusted. Number four, i'm feeling very relaxed. I feel quite calm, calm, relax, peaceful. Everything is OK. After I get a massage, I feel very relaxed. Number five, i'm annoy or and frustrated or and disappointed. These are three negative feelings that we often use to express the fact that you are almost angry, but not quite angry yet, and you just wish, I wish things had have gone differently. My coworker is really annoying me, especially at the word disappointed. You could often hear parents using this expression with their children. I'm so disappointed in you. Why didn't you do Better on your test? Number six, you can feel proud of yourself or proud of other people. You could also hear parents saying to their children, wow, i'm so proud of you. You might feel encouraged by something someone has said you, or you might feel touched when students leave me comments about how my videos have helped them improve their english. I feel very encouraged to want to keep making Better videos. I feel touched by these comments. Number seven, i'm so scared. I'm afraid. I'm frightened. I'm terrified. These are all adjectives that can be used to express your fear in a certain situation. I am terrified of spiders. Some people are scared of heights. Other people are afraid of snakes. Number eight, if you're not scared of something, you could say that you feel brave or strong or safe. You don't feel like anything is wrong. If you feel brave or strong, IT means maybe you are going against the thing that might be dangerous. I'm strong. I can do this when I see a spider. I do not feel brave, but I think my husband is brave because he protects me. Number nine, so worried. I'm nervous. I'm feeling anxious so often. These adjectives are used when you are describing your feelings, possibly waiting for something. I'm feeling so nervous about the test or i'm feeling nerves about the test results. Both could be true. I'm worried about that. I'm feeling a little bit anxious about IT. So you are feeling unsure. You're not the opposite, confident about the outcome. Number ten is confident you feel like, yes, I will pass that test or you finish the test. Yeah, that test went well. I'm sure I pass the test. Number eleven, i'm so hungry. I'm starving. I say this a lot. I talk to my husband. I'm so hungry when dinner gonna be ready. Uh, i'm starving. Feed me. The opposite of this, number twelve, is to be full or to be satisfied. I feel good. I'm satisfied who had so much and full. If you eat too much, you could even say, uh, i'm stuffed. I feel stuffed. Number thirteen and fourteen are very similar. So if you have a negative emotion, i'm shocked. This news is completely shocking. IT is not what you are expecting and is something that is negative the opposite or a very similar expression to this could be surprised. Surprised could be negative, but it's usually used in a positive way. I'm so surprised to remember in my birthday. So if your surprise are shocked, it's the emotion that you wouldn't expecting something to happen. Wow, IT happened. So surprise generally, positive could be negative. Shocked is negative. I was surprised by his good news. I was shocked by his terrible news. Number fifteen is sad. I'm sad. A very casual wave saying, IT is down. I'm feeling down or i'm so depressed. I'm miserable. I'm just so sad. I can't believe this happened. The opposite of that, saving the best emotion for last is happy. There's many different ways in english to express the fact that you are happy. I'm so happy. I'm so excited. I'm excited. I'm overjoyed if you want to be more formal. I'm thrilled I made an entire video about different ways to express the fact that you are happy. So please check out that video about different ways to show your happiness. Finally, you could hear many examples of me using these emotions, using these feelings in sentences, to quickly review how to use them in sentences. Please remember that emotions or your feelings are examples of adjectives. When you're talking about your feelings, the way the adjectives are usually used in the simple present would be, I am plus the adjective. IM can be shorted to the contraction. I, i'm plus your adjective. I am esthetic. I'm depressed. Also, in the simple present, you could say, I feel plus the adjective, I feel confident, I feel nervous. Sometimes we might also use the present continuous to describe our feelings by saying, I am feeling plus your adjective. I feeling exhausted today. I'm feeling energetic. I find a way that you could express your feelings is by saying the subject, what is making or causing your feeling make or makes me plus your adjective. So if I think about my husband, he makes me so happy. If I think about the terrible weather during the winter time in canada, he makes me so miserable. In addition to using the adjectives that were in this video, you can modify the adjectives as well. If your feeling is very strong, you could at the word very, or really or so in front of the adjective, I am so angry. I'm really relaxed if your feeling isn't very strong.
