Dear fellow students,
Today is World Mental Health Day.As we all know, it’s
important to keep our minds healthy, especially as junior high
students who are under a lot of study pressure. The following are
my suggestions on how to keep our minds healthy.
To begin with, it’s necessary for us to live a regular life,
such as getting enough sleep and eating a balanced diet with less
meat and more vegetables.Additionally, as Junior Three
students, we are supposed to study wisely. For instance, not
only should we study hard, but we should also spend less time on
our cellphones.Plus, when facing challenges, we need to stay
positive and look on the bright side of life.
Last but not least, doing sports is also recommended. It can
help us relax and stay healthy.Playing basketball with friends after
school is a great way to relieve stress.
In conclusion, remember that it’s important to always take
care of your mental health.Give these tips a try, and you’ll find
that taking care of your mind can be as rewarding as taking care of
your body.I’m confident that if you follow these suggestions, you
will make progress in no time and enjoy a happier, healthier
Junior Three year.
That’s all.Thank you.

For three years, a woman in Shanghai has celebrated Tree-
Planting Day by paying 8, 000 yuan to adopt (领养) a cypress
tree each year. The 80-year-old tree, located in Shanghai’s Guyi
Garden, is part of a citywide tree adoption program started in
2017. The program offers thousands of trees for online adoption.
Usually, the cost of adopting a tree in most parks is about 90
yuan a year. Each adopter receives an online certificate, and their
money will be used to pay professional gardeners to tend the
trees, including clipping and controlling pests (害虫).
The tree adoption event is so popular that people set alarms to
sign up as soon as it starts. This year, like before, trees in
Shanghai Binjiang Forest Park were adopted within minutes,
along with nearly 300 plum trees in Shanghai Chenshan Botanical
Garden, 200 ginkgo trees (银杏树) in Huangxing Park and a
lot of other trees in different parks. Among them, the most
popular ones are the beautiful flowering trees, which are often all
booked (预订) within seconds.
The city has made it easier to adopt trees through different
online platforms (平台) , including the Government Online-Of
line Shanghai app and the Green Shanghai WeChat account. This
made the adoption process faster and clearer for everyone. If
someone has already adopted a tree, they can renew (更新)
their adoption for the following year by continuing to pay. For
those who fail to get a tree in time, all they need to do is check the
platform from time to time, because someone may forget to renew.

For centuries, Chinese people have been growing,
picking, making, and enjoying tea. This has led to different
types of tea—green tea, white tea, oolong tea and so on. People
drink and share these teas. These traditions have been passed down
through generations and played an important part in everyday life in
China. Let’s look at how oolong tea is made.
Sun-drying
Sun-drying is a way of letting the tea leaves dry. People put
the tea leaves in the dustpans (簸箕) and put them under the
sun. This step is important for making good tea. It doesn’t just get
rid of water from the leaves; it also makes a series of chemical
changes happen. These changes make it possible for the next
step, where the tea leaves get shaken up.
Shaking
Oolong tea has a special aroma (芳香) because of a step
called “shaking”. During the step, tea makers gather many tea
leaves, shaking them together. This makes the tea leaves taste
less bitter and lets out the aromas from the tea leaves.
Frying
Because of shaking, the tea leaves have less water now.
Next, it’s important to use just the right high temperature to stir-
fry (翻炒) the leaves quickly. Cook the tea leaves until they get
soft and curl. This step helps get rid of water and make the tea
smell even better.
Baking (烘焙)
Baking is the last step when making tea. By doing it, we get
rid of extra water in the tea leaves. Oolong tea isn’t baked just
once. When we bake the tea, we have to pay attention to how the
leaves are changing and adjust the heat from time to time. We start
with a high temperature and then lower it. Stirring during baking
can make the tea look better, smell nicer, and taste greater!
( D )21.What’s the main purpose of Paragraph 1?
A. To talk about different kinds of tea.
B. To show which tea is the most popular.
C. To explain why Chinese people love tea.
D. To raise people’s interest in learning about tea.
D
( C )22. Which picture best describes the second step?
A. B.
C. D.
C
( B )23. What can we learn about baking?
A. It is the most important step.
B. It takes place more than once.
C. It works at a certain temperature.
D. It happens before frying the tea leaves.
B
( C )24. What takes place in all the four steps?
A. Setting the right temperature.
B. Stirring the tea leaves quickly.
C. Removing water from the tea leaves.
D. Shaking the tea leaves from time to time.
C
( A )25. What’s the best title of the passage?
A. The art of making oolong tea
B. The development of oolong tea
C. Making tea—a tradition in China
D. Steps in making different kinds of tea

A. Today, people in different places have different traditions to
celebrate Chunfen.
B. The meals are also thought as a way to wish for a healthy and
strong body.
C. After a dangerous journey, he brought the sun back and hung
it in the sky.
D. Have you ever wondered about the origin (起源) of this
special solar term?
E. It is believed that flying kites on Chunfen can drive away bad
luck and bring back good luck.
F. It’s been said that three things happen on the day of Spring
Equinox.
Falling on March 21 this year, Spring Equinox, also called
Chunfen in Chinese, is the fourth of the Twenty-four Solar
Terms. It marks the same length of the day and night.
26. It is said that a long time ago, as there was not
enough sunlight, it was almost impossible for people to grow
crops. One day, Emperor Yandi decided to fly to Penglai Island
on a five-colored bird to search for the sun so that his people could
enjoy a better harvest. 27. From then on, there were plenty
of crops on Earth and people lived happily and peacefully. This
day is called Chunfen.
D
C
28.
Chunfen is the best time to fly kites. The wind for kite flying
can’t be too strong or too gentle. The gentle wind on the day of
Chunfen perfectly satisfies those needs, so it is easier for kites to
go up. It is usually a wonderful time for people, both old and
young, to go to the open spaces to fly kites. 29.
A
E
Chunfen also means hope and growing up, just like the
plants. Since ancient times, people ate food based on the changes
of seasons. In southern China’s Fujian and Guangdong provinces,
people living in villages dig wild vegetables and cook them in soup
to clean their stomachs.
30. During Chunfen, wheat grows and flowers come
out. Leek (韭菜) is delicious and fresh. It’s the best time to
cook food with it, although cooking styles are quite different
between northern and southern China.
When Chunfen comes, remember to have fresh vegetables
on your table. Also, don’t say no if you are invited to take part in
different activities to enjoy the good weather.
