Traveling is an exciting experience that allows us to explore new places and cultures. Before starting a trip, there are several important things to prepare.
First, you need to carefully plan your route. Research different places, find out the best ways to travel between them, and mark the mustvisit spots on your map. If you are traveling to another country, make sure to apply for a visa well in advance. It can take some time, and without it, you won't be able to enter the country. Then, book your flight. Choose a flight that fits your schedule and budget. Once aboard the plane, you can relax, watch movies, or enjoy the view from the window during the journey.
Bring some cash with you, but also remember to take your credit card. In some remote areas far from big cities, there may not be many places to use credit cards, so cash will be more useful. On the other hand, in big cities, credit cards are often more convenient for shopping and paying bills.
During the trip, you may need to transfer from one vehicle to another. For example, after getting off the plane, you might need to take a bus or train to reach your final destination. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you're not sure where to go. And most importantly, engage with the local people. Talk to them, try local foods, and learn about their daily lives. You'll surely see many dramatic landscapes, like high mountains, wide rivers, and beautiful beaches. These sights can take your breath away.

From the Karakoram Mountains to the Indus River plain, Pakistan is home to many breathtaking landscapes.
Kaghan Valley
Kaghan Valley is a place of fairytales. According to one version of a local legend, a prince of Persia fell in love with a fairy princess in the valley. But a giant was also in love with the princess. One day, she escaped with the prince. In his anger, the giant flooded the valley and created lakes with his tears. Today, visitors from around the world travel to Kaghan Valley for its beautiful lakes, mountain scenery, and clear night skies.
Baltoro Glacier
Baltoro Glacier is one of the world's largest glacier valleys. Though difficult to access, it is one of the most highly visited regions in Pakistan because of mountain climbing destinations like K2, Broad Peak, and the Gasherbrum peaks in this area. Baltoro Glacier is not only known for its scenery, but as a life source—a large percentage of northern Pakistan's population depends on the water from Baltoro Glacier.
Deosai National Park
Known as “Land of the Giants”, the park is swept by wildflowers and rare butterflies each spring. This biodiversity hot spot is home to the Tibetan wolf, Himalayan ibex, Tibetan red fox and the critically endangered Himalayan brown bear. The park was given World Heritage status in 2016.
Hingol National Park
Hingol National Park is the largest national park in Pakistan. While it is wellknown for its diverse wildlife, it is perhaps best known for its active mud volcanoes. One of the most famous mud volcanoes is Chandragup, a sacred site for Hindus. Every spring, more than 40,000 people go there to honor the goddess Sati. Before they pay their respects to the goddess at a nearby temple, they have to clean their bodies with the mud.

Last September an American started a trip through Southwest China on a standard bike she had bought at a local shop. In three months, Jennifer Holstein cycled 2,500 kilometers through three provinces with just two small bags.
Living in Beijing, she already had a great life. But Holstein felt the urge to travel the world and look for adventure. It was in midAugust that the idea came to her to travel China by bicycle. At that time, Holstein had never cycled for more than 20 kilometers around her local city of Beijing.
Holstein shared an experience from the beginning of her trip when she found herself stuck in a tunnel (隧道) with a flat tire. It was dark and hot, and she was so scared because she had never changed a tire before. Suddenly, a group of cyclists old enough to be her grandparents came and rescued her.
In addition to receiving the kindness of people across China, Holstein also experienced several unique cultural experiences by attending three local weddings. She spoke about one wedding in detail, “I was in the middle of a small village in Sichuan Province, and I was taken into a local Tibetan family's home and they invited me to take part in a wedding. They gave me a dress and even did my makeup. I never thought I would ever have the chance to take part in a Tibetan wedding.”
According to Holstein, “Many people want to travel the world and take huge risks, but never do it. Don't just live your life hoping your wildest dreams will become a reality someday. Try first and the rest will work itself out.” In addition to biking for her own passion and curiosity, Holstein also linked her ride to raising 22,000 yuan for the United Foundation for China's Health.
