①In a field in England, three little robots have been given a great job: to find and kill grass before planting seeds (种子) in the soil.
②The robots are named Tom, Dick and Harry. Tom is the first of the three clever robots to start working. He watches the crops (庄稼) carefully and collects the information about each plant. He can create a short introduction to each plant and even make decisions on what chemicals are needed for your crops.
③Dick does the dirty. He can go to each plant that is doing bad to the crops and take it out. Plants that are good for the crops are left. He can spray (喷洒) things like chemicals in order to keep plants healthy.
④Harry is a planter. He digs holes into the field and puts seeds into the ground, and records where he puts them. If a seed doesn’t grow, he can easily travel there and plant a new seed.
⑤The smart robots are made by Small Robot. The British company says farmers could reduce costs by 40% and chemical usage by up to 95%. ①It’s 5:30 a.m., and your phone rings. A policeman says someone broke into a store and took something expensive. They need you right away because witnesses (目击者) may be dishonest while the clues (线索) at the scene (现场) will always tell the truth. It is your job to study the whole scene for clues that will help catch the thief. You are a crime (犯罪) scene officer, and the game is on.
②Outside the store, you see a broken window, but there is no glass on the street. There are shoe-prints, and marks left by the car tires (轮胎) which are seen as two direct clues around you.
③First, you look at the shoe-prints. They’re large, so you’re likely to look for a man. You take pictures of the shoe’s pattern. This can tell you the type of the shoes. You then check the space between the shoe-prints. You now know how long the person’s steps were. This gives you an idea of the height of the thief.
④Then, as you follow the shoe-prints over to the tire marks, the spaces between the steps get bigger. They lead to the passenger’s side of the car. Now you know the thief probably didn’t work alone. Again, you take pictures of the tire marks. They can help you find out the type of the car and the direction it went.
⑤The most important clues will come from a person’s body. You find some fingerprints near the broken window. Using a computer, you can match them with millions of others. You also find a hair at the scene. You keep it, because you know hair will show a person’s DNA.You can compare this with other people’s DNA.If you can match the hair with the fingerprint or the DNA, you will know who was in the store.
⑥Will you find the thief? You now have a lot of information, so it’s possible. For a crime scene officer, it’s all in a day’s work.
28.________ made a call at 5:30 a.m..

I’m Bob. My grandma can speak several languages well. It made me interested in language learning at the age of nine. So I learned Italian when I was ten. My grandma moved from Switzerland to England when she was young. I was always surprised that she spoke English to me, Italian to my grandpa and French or German on the phone to her relatives and friends. What was more, she learned English by herself when she came to England.
As for me, although I can speak some Italian and German, I only know a little grammar and sometimes get confused (困惑的). So it’s hard for me to understand how someone can speak several languages so well. I want to know how my grandma did it!
English is an international language. More and more people in the world speak English. I hardly use other languages in my own job. However, I think being able to order dishes in a restaurant in a non-English speaking country will be great.
In fact, language learning is easier now than before. New technology is the reason. For example, recording your voice helps you see how well you’re doing and helps you continue to improve. There are apps to help you learn new words. However, I still think going to classes improves conversation skills quickly. So it’s better to combine (结合) methods.

Dear Son,
I’ve rewritten this letter many times, worrying that too many words will weigh on you. But I have to tell you: this September, when you step into senior high, you’ll meet some problems in teenage years. So I decided to write this letter and hope it will help you out.
Remember our neighbor’s boy? He dated a girl when he was 16. They ate together and hung out together, paying less attention to studies. As a result, his grades dropped from the top ten to the bottom. Teens’ Psych Lab surveyed 500 puppy love (早恋) teenagers and found that 99% of the puppy love is a feeling to avoid loneliness, not true love. So, if you have a crush (迷恋) on someone, don’t hurry to hold hands. Fold that “love” into a paper airplane, put it in the drawer, and unfold it when you have the ability to show her the world.
Besides puppy love, the phone can be a big worry. When you use your phone to look up information, make PPTs, or make travel plans, it is a useful tool. When you can’t stop looking through short videos or stay up all night playing games, it is a trap (陷阱). Watching a 15-second short video can show your likes and the data (大数据) keeps feeding you what you like to watch, making you get lost in it. So don’t let your phone steal the time that shapes your future.
Talking about your future, I think of another teenage boy Cheng Cheng. He was bad at exams but he kept his dream of making remote-control planes. With his dream, he won a national prize in making planes, and later, was accepted by an aviation (航空) university with a bright future. Many people say, “Stop dreaming and be realistic (现实的).” But I want to tell you dreams are the light when you walk in the dark. They may not lead to your success, but they can save you when you are hopeless in life.
My son, no matter what problems you meet in your teenage years, I believe that if you understand what I write, you’ll get through the problems with light in your heart and direction under your feet.

The little robots allow farmers to free their soils from chemicals. Using less chemicals is going to save much money and is good for the environment.
A.A policeman B.A passenger C.A thief D.A crime scene officer
29.According to paragraph 2, the crime scene officer CAN find information about ________.
①height ②build ③man/woman ④appearance ⑤personality

31.The structure of the passage is ________.
