M: Hi My name is Stephen and I live in a tiny flat in London. I don’t live with my parents. They are living in the countryside. Sometimes I take a bus to visit them. An advantage of city life is having everything you need so close at hand. Living beside the underground station means I don’t need a car to get around, which saves me money. I take the underground to work every day. I can also use it when I go to visit my friends and relatives. Also, there are shopping centers and museums everywhere. Of course, London, just like many other large cities, has its problems. Londoners don’t chat on the train or the bus and there is much less sharing spirit than in the country where my parents live. That’s why they couldn’t get used to the city life. They always want to share something with others. In fact, they don’t understand how I can put up with the noise and pollution either. However, I see that as a small problem. As a famous poet once said, “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.” A The East Coast College Tour The East Coast College Tour is a wonderful opportunity for students to tour numerous college campuses from July 21 to 25. But since I started my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) journey, I haven’t looked back. It has opened so many doors for me, including working abroad and seeing the world. I knew I wanted to travel, and that TEFL was the way to make that possible by earning an income along the way. So to get started in this career, I got a TEFL certificate online. Over the last four years, I have taught at an Italian summer camp, teaching English in Italy and Los Angeles. This gave me so much experience, and if you are interested in short-term work, there are many TEFL summer camps all over the world. They are prepared to help teachers by paying for travel expenses, accommodation, food, and a monthly wage. I made so many friends in the TEFL industry by taking this opportunity. Since then, I have been able to backpack around Southeast Asia by working remotely teaching my students online. All you need is a laptop and good Wi-Fi! While on my travels, I homeschooled children in Thailand in return for free accommodation, food, and a weekly wage. This career can make travel so accessible. I knew I wanted to give back to a community along the way. This is when I decided to volunteer at a school in Cambodia, again, in return for free accommodation and meals. This was a very different experience from what I was used to, but I believe it has made me a stronger teacher. I still continue to work with my students in Cambodia monthly over video call. Over the last couple of years, I have grown so much as a teacher, and this is all because I said YES to opportunities that came my way. 24. What does the underlined word “daunting” in paragraph 1 mean? A. Exciting. B. Scary. C. Appealing. D. Striking. 25. What should the author first do to start TEFL? A. Become qualified. B. Travel overseas. C. Earn an income. D. Learn a foreign tongue. 26. What advantage do TEFL summer camps offer teachers? A. Guaranteed long-term agreement. B. Opportunities to design new curricula. C. Professional training in local languages. D. Financial support for basic living costs. 27. What might the author say to those who follow her example? A. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. B. Constant dripping wears away the stone. C. When opportunity knocks, open the door. D. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. B 25. A 26. D 27. 根据第二段中“So to get started in this career, I got a TEFL certificate online.(所以为了开启这份职业,我在线上考取了TEFL证书)”可知,作者开启TEFL职业生涯的第一步是获取相关资质。故选A。 根据第三段中“They are prepared to help teachers by paying for travel expenses, accommodation, food, and a monthly wage.(它们会为教师提供帮助,支付差旅费、住宿费、伙食费以及月薪)”可知,TEFL夏令营为教师提供基本生活开支的经济支持。 根据最后一段中“Over the last couple of years, I have grown so much as a teacher, and this is all because I said YES to opportunities that came my way.(在过去的几年里,作为一名教师,我成长了很多,这一切都是因为我接受了降临在我身上的机遇)”可知,作者的经历核心是抓住机遇,因此她可能会对效仿她的人说“当机遇来敲门时,打开门(抓住它)”。故选C。 C A new study from the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) says students appear to be using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) responsibly, and as a way to speed up tasks, not just boost their grades. Dr. Meaghan MacNutt, who teaches professional ethics (伦理学) in the UBCO School of Health and Exercise Sciences (HES), recently published a study which contradicts common concerns about students’use of AI. Students in three different courses, almost 400 participants, completed a survey about their use of AI on at least five reflective writing assignments. All three courses used an identical AI policy and students had the option to use the tool for their writing. While only about one-third of the students used AI, the majority of users, 81 percent, reported their GenAI use was inspired by at least one of the following factors: speed and ease in completing the assignment, a desire for high grades and a desire to learn. About 15 percent of the students said they were motivated by all three factors, with more than 50 percent using it to save time on the assignment. “There is a lot of speculation (猜想) when it comes to students’ use of AI,” MacNutt says. “However, students in our study reported that GenAI use was motivated more by learning than by grades, and they are using GenAI tools selectively and in ways they believe are ethical and supportive of their learning. This was somewhat unexpected due to the common perception that undergraduate students have become increasingly focused on grades at the expense of learning.” The study does raise some cautions, MacNutt warns. GenAI can be a useful tool for students learning English or people with reading and writing disabilities. But there is also the potential that if paid versions are better, students who can afford to use a more effective platform (平台) might have an advantage over others—creating further classroom unfairness. 28. What can be inferred about Dr. MacNutt’s study? A. Participants were too limited. B. Policies on AI tool usage vary. C. AI is a choice for writing tasks. D. The survey focused on writing skills. 29. What was the main motivation for the majority of GenAI users in the study? A. To enhance academic performance. B. To achieve higher grades effortlessly. C. To replace their own writing entirely. D. To gain an absolute advantage over others. 30. What is Dr. MacNutt’s attitude towards students’ use of GenAI? A. Supportive. B. Unclear. C. Opposed. D. Objective. 31. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Ban AI tools to ensure fair education B. Let students embrace AI technology wisely C. AI use harms students’ learning motivation D. GenAI threatens academic integrity in classrooms 【答案】28. C 29. A 30. D 31. 根据第二段“All three courses used an identical AI policy and students had the option to use the tool for their writing. (这三门课程都采用了相同的人工智能政策,学生可以选择使用该工具进行写作。)”可知,在写作任务中,人工智能是学生可选择使用的工具。故选C项。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段“While only about one-third of the students used AI, the majority of users, 81 percent, reported their GenAI use was inspired by at least one of the following factors: speed and ease in completing the assignment, a desire for high grades and a desire to learn.(虽然只有大约三分之一的学生使用人工智能,但81%的使用者表示,他们使用生成式人工智能至少受以下因素之一驱动:完成作业的效率与便捷性、对高分的渴望以及对学习的渴望。)” 故选A项。 根据第四段“However, students in our study reported that GenAI use was motivated more by learning than by grades, and they are using GenAI tools selectively and in ways they believe are ethical and supportive of their learning. (然而,研究中的学生表示,使用生成式人工智能更多是出于学习而非分数,且他们会有选择地使用,认为这种方式符合伦理且有助于学习。)”及第五段“The study does raise some cautions, MacNutt warns. GenAI can be a useful tool for students learning English or people with reading and writing disabilities. But there is also the potential that if paid versions are better, students who can afford to use a more effective platform (平台) might have an advantage over others—creating further classroom unfairness.(MacNutt警告说,这项研究确实提出了一些警告。GenAI对于学习英语的学生或有阅读和写作障碍的人来说是一个有用的工具。但也有可能,如果付费版本更好,能够负担得起使用更有效平台的学生可能会比其他人更有优势,从而进一步造成课堂不公平。)”可知,MacNutt既肯定学生使用AI的积极面,也指出潜在问题,态度客观。故选D项。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“A new study from the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) says students appear to be using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) responsibly, and as a way to speed up tasks, not just boost their grades. Dr. Meaghan MacNutt, who teaches professional ethics (伦理学) in the UBCO School of Health and Exercise Sciences (HES), recently published a study which contradicts common concerns about students’use of AI.(不列颠哥伦比亚大学奥卡诺根分校(UBCO)的一项新研究表明,学生们似乎正在负责任地使用生成人工智能(GenAI),并将其作为加快任务的一种方式,而不仅仅是提高成绩。Meaghan MacNutt博士在UBCO健康与运动科学学院(HES)教授职业道德,最近发表了一项研究,该研究与学生使用人工智能的普遍担忧相矛盾。)”、第四段“However, students in our study reported that GenAI use was motivated more by learning than by grades, and they are using GenAI tools selectively and in ways they believe are ethical and supportive of their learning. (然而,我们研究中的学生报告说,使用GenAI的动机更多的是学习,而不是成绩,他们有选择地使用GenAI工具,并以他们认为合乎道德和支持学习的方式使用。)”及第五段提出警示可知,文章核心是呼吁学生应明智使用AI。所以短文的最佳标题为“让学生们明智地接受人工智能技术”。故选B项。 D We’ve all felt guilty when fruit and vegetables go bad before we could eat them. Now, researchers from MIT and the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) have shown they can extend the shelf life of harvested plants by injecting them with melatonin (褪黑激素) using biodegradable microneedles (可生物降解微针). That’s a big deal because the problem of food waste goes way beyond our salads. More than 30 percent of the world’s food is lost after it’s harvested — enough to feed more than 1 billion people. Refrigeration is the most common way to preserve foods, but it requires energy and equipment that many regions of the world can’t afford or lack access to. The researchers believe their system could offer an alternative or complement to refrigeration. “This is the first time that we’ve been able to apply these microneedles to extend the shelf life of a fresh-cut crop,” says Benedictto Marelli, the study’s senior author, associate professor of Department Civil and Environmental Engineering at MIT. “We thought we could use this technology to deliver something that could regulate or control the plant’s post-harvest physiology.” Central to their approach are patches of silk microneedles. The microneedles can get through the tough, waxy skin of plants without causing a stress response, and deliver precise amounts of melatonin into plants’ inner tissues. For the study, Marelli and researchers from SMART applied small patches of the microneedles containing melatonin to the base of the leafy vegetable, pak choy. After application the researchers found the melatonin was able to extend the vegetables’ shelf life by four days at room temperature and 10 days when refrigerated, which could allow more crops to reach consumers before they’re wasted. “Post-harvest waste is a huge issue. This problem is extremely important in emerging markets around Africa and Southeast Asia, where many crops are produced but can’t be maintained in the journey from farms to markets,” says Benedictto. 32. What is the purpose of the study of MIT & SMART? A. To make produce keep long. B. To completely get rid of food waste. C. To reduce the guilt of wasting food. D. To make the public aware of food waste. 33. What makes refrigeration fail to be a universal food preservation method? A. Its low effect. B. Regional limitations. C. Too much daily use time. D. High use fees. 34. What is paragraph 4 mainly about? A. How the approach works. B. How the microneedle is made. C. What the cost of the approach is. D. Where the approach would be used. 35. Why did Benedictto mention emerging markets in the last paragraph? A. To explain post-harvest research. B. To call for immediate food-saving action. C. To show the potential of the technology. D. To highlight the global scale of food waste. A 33. B 34. A 35. 根据第一段“Now, researchers from MIT and the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) have shown they can extend the shelf life of harvested plants by injecting them with melatonin (褪黑激素) using biodegradable microneedles (可生物降解微针).(如今,来自麻省理工学院以及新加坡-麻省理工研究与技术联盟(SMART)的研究人员已经证明,他们可以通过使用可生物降解的微针向收获的植物中注射褪黑激素,从而延长这些植物的保鲜期)”可推知,MIT & SMART研究的目的是延长农产品保鲜时间。故选A。 根据第二段“Refrigeration is the most common way to preserve foods, but it requires energy and equipment that many regions of the world can’t afford or lack access to.(冷藏是保存食物最常用的方法,但这一过程需要消耗能源并需要相应的设备,而世界上许多地区无法承担相关费用或无法获得这些设备)”可知,区域限制使得冷藏不能成为一种普遍的食品保存方法。 根据第四段“Central to their approach are patches of silk microneedles. The microneedles can get through the tough, waxy skin of plants without causing a stress response, and deliver precise amounts of melatonin into plants’ inner tissues. For the study, Marelli and researchers from SMART applied small patches of the microneedles containing melatonin to the base of the leafy vegetable, pak choy.(他们方法的核心是丝绸微针贴片。这种微针能穿透植物坚硬的蜡质表皮,且不会引发植物的应激反应,还能将精确剂量的褪黑激素输送到植物内部组织中。在这项研究中,马雷利与新加坡-麻省理工研究与技术联盟的研究人员,将含有褪黑激素的小型微针贴片贴在了叶菜类蔬菜——小白菜的菜叶基部)”可知,本段主要介绍了微针作用机制与实验过程。故选A。 根据最后一段“Post-harvest waste is a huge issue. This problem is extremely important in emerging markets around Africa and Southeast Asia, where many crops are produced but can’t be maintained in the journey from farms to markets(收获后的损耗是一个严重的问题。这一问题在非洲和东南亚的一些新兴市场尤为突出,在这些地区,许多农作物虽然被种植,但从农场到市场的运输过程中却无法得到妥善保存)”可推知,Benedictto提及新兴市场旨在展示技术应用潜力。故选C。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The Value of an Ordinary Life The Guardian newspaper recently started a feature where they interview people around sixty who had started new adventures. ____36____ These adventures were pretty simple: becoming a tour guide, learning to surf, becoming a lifeguard. The people interviewed had not lived big lives. They were not seekers of fame and fortune instead, they were doing something that made them feel fulfilled. ____37____ It’s about ordinary life. The Internet (and, before that, TV, magazines and adverts) shows people a colorful version of life, where people are having it all. But for most people though, life is pretty simple — eating, sleeping, working. If you’re lucky, you have your health, friends and family, and a little money to play around with, and, for most people, it’s enough. ____38____ The people who achieve great things are, I think, different from you and me: They’re either born with high drive, exceptional talent, or both. As for me: At sixty, I still have a few remaining ambitions mainly in the field of creativity. ____39____ My life will not therefore have been an exceptional one, but that’s okay with me. Samuel Beckett had something to say about ambition, “... that’s the mistake I made, one of the mistakes, to have wanted a story for myself, whereas life alone is enough.” ____40____ It reminds us that ordinary life, with its simple joys, is valuable on its own. Life is not about doing big or famous things. F. They started these new things later in their lives. G. We often forget how much ordinary life gives us. F 37. E 38. A 39. D 40. 【36题详解】 由上文“The Guardian newspaper recently started a feature where they interview people around sixty who had started new adventures.(《卫报》最近推出了一个专栏,采访了一些60岁左右开始新冒险的人。)”和下文“These adventures were pretty simple: becoming a tour guide, learning to surf, becoming a lifeguard.(这些冒险非常简单:成为导游、学习冲浪、成为救生员。)” F项“They started these new things later in their lives.(他们在人生后期开始了这些新事物。)”符合语境,They指代上文“people around sixty”,“later in their lives”对应“around sixty”,“these new things”承接“new adventures”,为下文“冒险很简单”的描述铺垫,承上启下。故选F项。 【37题详解】 由下文 “ It’s about ordinary life. The Internet (and, before that, TV, magazines and adverts) shows people a colorful version of life, where people are having it all. But for most people though, life is pretty simple — eating, sleeping, working. If you’re lucky, you have your health, friends and family, and a little money to play around with, and, for most people, it’s enough.(它关乎普通人的生活。互联网(在此之前还有电视、杂志和广告)向人们展示了生活的缤纷版本 —— 在这个版本里,人们仿佛拥有了一切。但对大多数人而言,生活其实很简单:无非是吃饭、睡觉、工作。如果你足够幸运,能拥有健康的身体、亲友的陪伴,还有一点可自由支配的闲钱,对大多数人来说,这样就足够了。)”可知,空格处需否定“生活要追求宏大”,引出“平凡生活”的核心主题。E项“Life is not about doing big or famous things.(生活不在于做宏大或出名的事。)”符合语境,“not about doing big or famous things”与下文“it’s about ordinary life”形成对比,反驳了“多彩版本生活”的误导,直接点明段落主旨,逻辑连贯。故选E项。 【38题详解】 由上文“But for most people though, life is pretty simple- eating, sleeping, working. If you’re lucky, you have your health, friends and family, and a little money to play around with, and, for most people, it’s enough.(但对大多数人来说,生活其实很简单 —— 吃饭、睡觉、工作。若幸运,你有健康、亲友和一点闲钱,对大多数人而言,这就够了。)”可知,空格处需总结“这种简单生活”的本质,强调其普遍性。A项“After all, this is life for common people.(毕竟,这才是普通人的生活。)”符合语境,this指代上文“简单的生活”,“life for common people”呼应“for most people”,进一步强化“简单生活是常态”的观点,收尾自然。故选A项。 【39题详解】 由上文“As for me: At sixty, I still have a few remaining ambitions mainly in the field of creativity.(至于我:60岁了,我还有一些未实现的抱负,主要在创意领域。)”和下文“My life will not therefore have been an exceptional one, but that’s okay with me.(因此,我的生活不会是特别的,但我对此并无不满。)” D项“I don’t expect to do anything amazing.(我不指望做出什么惊人的事。)” 【40题详解】 由上文“Samuel Beckett had something to say about ambition, “... that’s the mistake I made, one of the mistakes, to have wanted a story for myself, whereas life alone is enough.”(塞缪尔・贝克特曾谈及抱负:“…… 我犯了一个错,其中一个错,就是想为自己谱写一段传奇,而其实生活本身就已足够。”)”和下文“It reminds us that ordinary life, with its simple joys, is valuable on its own.(它提醒我们,平凡生活有着简单的快乐,其本身就有价值。)” C项“His words hold deep meaning for us.(他的话对我们有着深刻的意义。)” China is a country filled with rich culture and history and ____41____ landscapes. Their gentle support has guided me through many hard moments in life. Once, I made a big mistake in my mid-term exam. I scored far below my usual level and even lied to them about the result at first, afraid of their disappointment. But when they found the test paper in my schoolbag, I lowered my head, waiting for a scolding (训斥). Instead, my father sat down beside me, patted my hand softly and said, “Mistakes are just lessons in disguise (伪装), dear. What matters is being honest and fixing what went wrong.” My mother brought me a cup of hot milk, adding, “We know you’ve been trying. Let’s go over the paper together tonight, okay?” Their words removed my anxiety like sunlight on ice. Another time, I fell in love with painting and spent almost all my after-school time on it, which made my homework pile up. My teacher even called my parents to talk about my poor grades. I thought they would take away my paintbrushes, but they only had a calm chat with me. “We love seeing you so fond of something,” my father said, “but balance is key-your studies lay the foundation for your future, and painting can be a wonderful break from it.” With their guidance, I made it a rule: finish homework first, and then paint for an hour. Soon, my grades improved, and my paintings even won a school award. Last month, I faced a tough choice; join the school’s art competition which would take weeks of practice or take extra classes to prepare for the upcoming physics exam. I hesitated, staying up late worrying about letting my parents down no matter what I chose. That night, I found a note on my desk. I picked up the note and read my father’s handwriting carefully. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With their encouragement, I signed up for the art competition and made a study plan. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 I picked up the note and read my father’s handwriting carefully. It said, “Dear, we know you’re stressed. Choose whatever makes you happy — art or physics. We’ll support you. Love painting? Don’t miss the competition. Worry about physics? We’ll help you review. You don’t have to be perfect. Just follow your heart.” Tears filled my eyes. I hugged them tightly, saying, “Thank you for understanding me.” In that warm hug, I felt the quiet strength of their love wrapping around me like a soft blanket. With their encouragement, I signed up for the art competition and made a study plan. Mornings were for physics formulas; evenings, I painted after homework. My parents bought me new brushes to cheer me on. On competition day, they waited outside with snacks. When I won second prize, my father lifted me up, and my mother took photos. Later, my physics exam went well. Looking at their smiles, I knew their tolerance was the best gift for my growth. That night I wrote the word “PATIENCE” on the first page of my notebook, promising to pass their gentle gift to the next pair of wondering hands. 3.词汇激活 行为类 ①支持某人:support sb./back sb. up/stand by sb. ② 拥抱:hug/embrace ③ 买:buy/purchase 情绪类 ① 担心:worry about/be concerned about ② 爱:love/affection 【点睛】【高分句型1】Choose whatever makes you happy — art or physics.(运用了whatever引导的宾语从句) 【高分句型2】When I won second prize, my father lifted me up, and my mother took photos.(运用了when引导的时间状语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力部分,该部分分为第一第二两节。 Hello, international friends club, can I help you? I don't live with my parents. They are living in the countryside. Sometimes they take a bus to visit them. An advantage of city life is having everything you need so close at hand. Living beside the underground station means I don't need a car to get around, which saves me money. I take the underground to work every day. I can also use IT when I go to visit my friends and relatives. Also, there are shopping centers and museums everywhere. Of course, london, just like many other large cities, has its problems. Londoners don't chat on the train or the bus. And there was much less sharing spirit than in the country where my parents live. That's why they couldn't get used to the city life. They always want to share something with others. In fact, they don't understand how I can put up with the noise and pollution either. However, I see that as a small problem. C A new study from the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) says students appear to be using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) responsibly, and as a way to speed up tasks, not just boost their grades. A Participants were too limited. GenAI threatens academic integrity in classrooms D We’ve all felt guilty when fruit and vegetables go bad before we could eat them. After application, the researchers found the melatonin was able to extend the vegetables’ shelf life by four days at room temperature and 10 days when refrigerated, which could allow more crops to reach consumers before they’re wasted. 34 What is paragraph 4 mainly about? The Value of an Ordinary Life The Guardian newspaper recently started a feature where they interview people around sixty who had started new adventures. A. After all, this is life for common people. B. These new features are not big at all. C. His words hold deep meaning for us. D. I don’t expect to do anything amazing. E. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
