Li Na: Hi, Liu Wei. I'm looking at some reviews of laptops. I need to buy a new one.
Liu Wei: Maybe I can help you. What do you usually use the laptop for?
Li Na: I mainly use it to do my homework, such as searching for information for my project, doing my online homework. And I also use it to draw pictures. You know, I love using drawing software!
Liu Wei: I see. In that case, I think you need a fast computer with a good touch screen. Maybe you should look at the Lightning X. It has a touch screen and comes in different sizes.
Li Na: That sounds good.
Liu Wei: The 13-inch model weighs 1.5 kg and has 8 GB of memory. The price is good too. It’s only ¥ 4,998.
Li Na: Oh, ¥4,998? That’s not bad, and 1.5 kg is light, but 8 GB perhaps is not enough memory.
Listen and imitate
Liu Wei: How about the Spec 15? It's a bit heavier at 2 kg, but the screen is 15 inches and it has 32 GB of memory.
Li Na: How much does it cost?
Liu Wei: It's a bit more expensive: it costs ¥ 8,600. What about theAl0l? There are two models. The 14-inch and the 17-inch. The 14-inch weighs 2 kg and the 17-inch is 2.5 kg.
Li Na: But 2.5 kg is too heavy. Can you tell me about the 14-inch?
Liu Wei: Sure. It has 32 GB of memory and costs just ¥ 7,500. It’s the latest model. One special feature is its amazing touch screen. It’s definitely good for drawing.
Li Na: Wow! That’s good.

Extra stress
When we speak, we stress the most important word in the sentence. You, the speaker, must decide what the most important word is.
Listen and repeat
Listen and repeat. Give extra stress to the words underlined twice.
Amy: What do you think of computers, Frank? Are they smarter than
human beings?
Frank: No, I don't think so.
Amy: Why not? Computers can do a lot of things!
Frank: Maybe, but human beings created computers.
Amy: That's true!
Read the conversation below and draw an extra line under the words you would give extra stress to. Then practise it in pairs.
Frank: Which kind of computers are better, desktops or laptops?
Amy: Laptops, I think.
Frank: Why?
Amy: Laptops are lighter. They’re easier to carry around than desktops!
Frank: Yes, but desktops are often cheaper than laptops. And I don’t really
have much money.
Amy: Well, then a desktop is probably a better choice for you.
