The problem led to many visits to doctors and an uncertain future. In a moment his life’s changed from where he was going to take his clients (客户) to lunch to whether his daughter Katie was ever going to see her fourth birthday. Fast forward 18 years, Katie is now a healthy 20-year-old junior in college and Steve is the Senior Vice-president of the Nemours Foundation where he brings Katie’s story and his purpose to work every day. The problem led to many visits to doctors and an uncertain future. In a moment his life’s changed from where he was going to take his clients (客户) to lunch to whether his daughter Katie was ever going to see her fourth birthday.(Steve Sparks是一名年轻的成功律师,在一家著名的律师事务所工作,但他3岁的女儿的严重腿部问题改变了他的注意力和生活方向。 故选A。 根据第三段中“but Steve’s purpose had found him and it was more important than a paycheck(但史蒂夫的目标找到了他,这比薪水更重要)”可知,Steve的薪水“减少了”。 根据第二段中“And with the help of wonderful doctors and kind care-givers in Nemours Foundation, who Steve and his wife Michelle describe as heroes, Katie’s illness was cured.(在史蒂夫和他的妻子米歇尔称为英雄的内穆尔基金会优秀的医生和善良的护理人员的帮助下,凯蒂的病被治愈了。)”;第三段中“Forever changed by the experience and encouraged by the heroes who saved his daughter’s life, Steve felt he couldn’t go back to business as usual. He felt there was something else he was meant to do.(这次经历永远地改变了史蒂夫,并受到了那些救了他女儿生命的英雄们的鼓舞,史蒂夫觉得他不能再像往常一样做生意了。 ;第四段中“Steve is the Senior Vice-president of the Nemours Foundation where he brings Katie’s story and his purpose to work every day.(Steve是Nemours基金会的高级副总裁,他每天都把Kati的故事和他的目标带到工作中。)” 根据第三段“but Steve’s purpose had found him and it was more important than a paycheck(但史蒂夫的目标找到了他,这比薪水更重要)”;第四段“Steve is the Senior Vice-president of the Nemours Foundation where he brings Katie’s story and his purpose to work every day.(Steve是Nemours基金会的高级副总裁,他每天都把Kati的故事和他的目标带到工作中。)” D。 C It all started a few years ago in the quiet village of Mollington after a number of burglaries. Those living in the village came up with the idea that they themselves could keep an eye on their neighbours’ property while they were away on holiday. Since then, with the help of the government and police, more than 50,000 “Neighbourhood Watch” schemes have been set up in the UK. The object of each “Watch” group is to prevent things like this from happening again in any street or area. Each villager who is a member of the scheme agrees to do their best to stop anyone stealing something in the village. Everything is done calmly and carefully — it is the police who check out each report and find out what is happening. Villagers who are part of the group are not supposed to act as police or put themselves in any danger. When a new “Neighbourhood Watch” scheme is set up in an area, the first thing people notice is the large, brightly coloured “Neighbourhood Watch” board. This is a real warning to most burglars, because very few of them will take a chance of breaking into someone’s house if they know that there is a high risk of being seen by neighbours keeping a lookout. Burglars also know that people who are part of the “Neighbourhood Watch” schemes are more likely to have fitted good locks to their doors and windows. Since the “Neighbourhood Watch” scheme was set up, there are fewer burglaries and there is a new community spirit. It is bringing people together as never before, and encouraging people to care for each other. New friendships are also being made. 28. The “Neighbourhood Watch” scheme in Mollington was started ________. A. as the first of its kind in the UK B. after 50,000 burglaries in the area C. because the police were short of hands D. because it was a popular holiday centre 29. The job for members of a “Watch” group is to ________. A. do their best to catch burglars B. ask strangers to leave at once C. help those who are in trouble D. report a burglary to the police 30. What does the author think of the scheme? A. He doubts it. B. It is worrying. C. It is successful. D. He is uncertain about it. 31. What’s the purpose of the text? A. To advise. B. To discuss. C. To educate. D. To introduce. A 29. D 30. C 31. 根据文章第一段“Those living in the village came up with the idea that they themselves could keep an eye on their neighbours’ property while they were away on holiday. Since then, with the help of the government and police, more than 50,000 ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ schemes have been set up in the UK. 故选A项。 根据文章第二段“Each villager who is a member of the scheme agrees to do their best to stop anyone stealing something in the village. Everything is done calmly and carefully — it is the police who check out each report and find out what is happening. 根据文章最后一段“Since the ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ scheme was set up, there are fewer burglaries and there is a new community spirit. It is bringing people together as never before, and encouraging people to care for each other. New friendships are also being made. 根据文章第一段“It all started a few years ago in the quiet village of Mollington after a number of burglaries. Those living in the village came up with the idea that they themselves could keep an eye on their neighbours’ property while they were away on holiday. Since then, with the help of the government and police, more than 50,000 ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ schemes have been set up in the UK. D Recordings (录音) of angry bees are enough to send big, tough African elephants running away, a new study says. Beehives ( 蜂窝) either recorded or real may even prevent elephants from damaging farmer’s crops. Years ago, scientist Lucy King and her team found that elephants avoid certain trees with bees living in them. Today, Lucy wants to see if African honeybees might stop elephants from eating crops. But before she asked farmers to set up beehives on their farms, she needed to find out if the bees would frighten elephants away. Lucy found a wild beehive inside a tree in northern Kenya and set up a recorder. Then she threw a stone into the beehive, which burst into life. Lucy and her assistant hid in their car until the angry bees had calmed down. Next, Lucy searched out elephant families in Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya and put a speaker in a tree close to each family. From a distance, Lucy turned on the pre-recorded sound of angry bees while at the same time recording the elephants with a video camera. Half the elephant groups left the area within ten seconds. Out of a total of 17 groups, only one group didn’t react to the sound of the angry bees. Lucy reported that all the young elephants immediately ran to their mothers to hide under them. When Lucy played the sound of a waterfall ( 瀑布) instead of the angry bees to many of the same elephant families, the animals were undisturbed. Even after four minutes, most of the groups stayed in one place. Lucy is now studying whether the elephants will continue to avoid the sound of angry bees after hearing it several times. She hasn’t tested enough groups yet to know and she has now begun placing speakers in the fields to see if elephants are frightened away. 32. What can be the title of the passage? A. Bees are the King of the Forest B. How to Keep Elephants Away C. Don’t Get Close to Angry Bees D. Angry Bees Frighten Big Elephants Away 33. Why did Lucy throw a stone into a wild beehive? A. To record the sound of angry bees. B. To make a video of elephants. C. To see if elephants would run away. D. To find out more about the behavior of bees. 34. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A. Groups of elephants will make bees angry.. B. Waterfalls can make elephants stay in one place. C. Elephants do not go near trees with bees living in them. D. Young elephants ignore African honeybees. 35. According to the passage, Lucy ________. A. works by herself in Africa B. needs to test more elephant groups C. has stopped elephants eating crops D. has got farmers to set up beehives on their farms 【答案】32. D 33. A 34. C 35. 根据文章主题段第一段“Recordings (录音) of angry bees are enough to send big, tough African elephants running away,a new study says.(一项新的研究表明,愤怒的蜜蜂的录音足以让高大强壮的非洲象逃跑)”可知文章主要讲述的是愤怒的蜜蜂会把大象吓跑。 根据文章第三段“But before she asked farmers to set up beehives on their farms, she needed to find out if the bees would frighten elephants away.(但在她要求农民在他们的农场上建立蜂箱之前,她需要弄清楚这些蜜蜂是否会把大象吓跑)”以及文章第四段“Lucy found a wild beehive inside a tree in northern Kenya and set up a recorder.(露西在肯尼亚北部的一棵树上发现了一个野生蜂巢,并设置了一个录音机)”可知露西往一个野蜂箱里扔了块石头来记录蜜蜂愤怒的声音。故选A。 根据文章第二段“Years ago, scientist Lucy King and her team found that elephants avoid certain trees with bees living in them.(多年前,科学家露西·金(Lucy King)和她的团队发现,大象会避开某些有蜜蜂居住的树木)”可知大象不会靠近有蜜蜂居住的树。C项:Elephants do not go near trees with bees living in them.(大象不会靠近有蜜蜂居住的树)合乎题意。 根据文章最后一段“She hasn’t tested enough groups yet to know and she has now begun placing speakers in the fields to see if elephants are frightened away.(她还没有对足够多的群体进行测试,现在她已经开始在田野里放置扬声器,看看大象是否会被吓跑)”可知需要测试更多的象群。 (注意:请把答案写在答题纸的相应位置) Teenage life: better now, or in the past? 【36题详解】 根据后文“And I didn’t get a bike until I was 16.(直到16岁我才有了一辆自行车。)” D“Or your friends’ bikes are better than yours.(或者你朋友的自行车比你的好。)” 【37题详解】 根据前文“And I didn’t get a bike until I was 16. And it was second-hand.(直到16岁我才有了一辆自行车。 A“And it was too big for me.(它对我来说太大了。)”符合分析,“And”与前文构成递进关系,“it”与前文“a bike”,“it”相呼应。故选A项。 【38题详解】 根据后文“So parents have got more money to spend on each child.(所以父母有更多的钱花在每个孩子身上。)” B“A typical family is smaller now.(一个典型的家庭现在变小了。)” 根据后文“Forty years ago, no one could imagine a world with tiny computers and amazing smartphones.(40年前,没有人能想象一个拥有微型电脑和令人惊叹的智能手机的世界。)” G“Technology is probably the greatest change in our life.(科技可能是我们生活中最大的变化。)” E“So they aren’t as healthy as the teenagers in the past.(所以他们不像过去的青少年那样健康。)” I always knew that I depended too much on my phone. Eager to help her new class, teachers and classmates, she decided to run for (竞选) monitor. She was very happy when their head teacher, Mr. Johnson, announced she won. She dreamed of leading her class to be the best in the whole school. However, problems came one by one. During self-study time, some classmates talked loudly; some even played music. Jane would stand up and tell everyone angrily, “Be quiet! It’s study time!” But her loud orders didn’t work. Tom, who was supposed to clean the blackboard, often “forgot”. Jane shouted to remind him of his duty, which only made Tom quite embarrassed and unhappy. Jane also announced her plans for group study after school, expecting everyone to join in it. But obviously most students weren’t interested and complained about the extra “work”. Jane felt more and more disappointed and helpless. Her direct orders seemed to push people away instead of bringing them together. Her dream of a top united class seemed to be broken by the daily problems. Standing alone after another rule failed, she felt deeply disappointed. Her methods weren’t working at all. Maybe she wasn’t suitable for being monitor. She couldn’t stand it like this any more. Mr. Johnson noticed Jane was in low spirits. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With a clear mind, Jane returned to her duties in a new way. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Mr. Johnson noticed Jane was in low spirits. He gently asked her to stay after class. Sensing her disappointment, he shared his own early struggles as a teacher. “True leadership,” he said softly, “isn’t about shouting orders. It’s about respect and teamwork. Try listening more and talking with your classmates.” Jane felt a little hope as Mr. Johnson encouraged her to find wiser ways to win their trust. His words were like a ray of light, brightening her confusion. She realized she needed to change her methods to bring everyone together. With a clear mind, Jane returned to her duties in a new way. Instead of shouting out commands, she arranged time to chat gently with her classmates and listen to their ideas and suggestions. She also grouped the whole class for cleaning duties to ensure fairness. To encourage a quiet environment for self-study, she herself kept learning quietly, setting a good example. Feeling their voices heard and understood, more students joined the study groups willingly. Gradually, the noisy classroom became quieter. Hopefully, Jane came to realize it was respect and cooperation that could build up the strong team in her dream. 谈论:talk with/chat with 情绪类 ①温柔地:softly/gently ②有希望的:feel a little hope/hopefully 【点睛】[高分句型1]She realized she needed to change her methods to bring everyone together. C It all started a few years ago in the quiet village of Mollington after a number of burglaries. 28. A. as the first of its kind in the UK B. after 50,000 burglaries in the area C. because the police were short of hands D. because it was a popular holiday centre 29. But before she asked farmers to set up beehives on their farms she needed to find out if the bees would frighten elephants away. A. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。 Hi amy, this is Carol. My name is here, a fletch. I'm glad to be invited here by your head teacher to tell you about what I loved doing as a Young girl. When I was little, I was really interested in mathematics. My mom was working for a large company. SHE helped her a company keep track of money. SHE began to teach me about the basic knowledge of mathematics. Before I turned five, I really loved dealing with numbers. I'd use math to help her with her shopping. We would go to the grocery store. SHE would have me tell her how much we would spend on the things. So that's how I practiced math. Since I didn't complain about IT, my mom understood that I must have a love for math. When I was Young, I also loved drawing and building things. When I was drawing a house, I would actually want to build IT. I'd use simple materials to build IT. Today I work as an engineer at boing. I do what I truly love doing. I hope you all can find out what you truly love and do IT in the future. Good morning. boys and girls. My name is here, a flutter.
