A 20. Today, I want to talk about how to be an entrepreneur. In other words, a great businessman. In fact, many people are amazed with how the entrepreneur’s mind works. How does an entrepreneur become successful? The following tips may be useful to you. One, you need to think up great ideas. You have to research if your business idea is feasible. After gathering all the needed information, you can now decide if you will pursue the business idea or do it in the future. Besides, you can’t work your way to success if you don’t know some concepts, such as return on an investment, speed of business returns, and many others. So having the proper educational background will help you a lot in succeeding in the business world. Two, be a risk taker. Most entrepreneurs are not afraid to take risks. This does not mean that entrepreneurs enter the market with their eyes closed, hoping for success. Entrepreneurs are willing to take risks, especially if after a careful study, they can see high chances of success. On the other hand, an entrepreneur learns a lot from past failures. It’s all part of life, and so you should not be scared. Three, be friendly and genuine to your customers. If you can build goodwill and you can win the trust of your customers and subscribers, your business will surely succeed. If you have these qualities, then you’re on your way to becoming a successful entrepreneur. You can choose between online internet businesses, or you can start by putting up a business in your local area. 二、阅读理解(本大题共5小题) A Four Great National Parks in Kenya Sibiloi National Park Established in 1973 by the government of Kenya for the protection of wildlife, it covers about 1,570 km². Since the national park is near Lake Turkana, one can see a large collection of ocean life — over 350 species — and abundant wild life in the area. Sibiloi is also home to important archaeological (考古的) sites, including Koobi Fora where the fossil remains have contributed more to the understanding of human evolution than any other site on the continent. Maasai Mara Maasai Mara was originally established in 1961 as a wildlife sanctuary (保护区). Now the total area under conservation in the Greater Maasai Mara ecosystem amounts to almost 1,510 km². The Maasai Mara is home to one of the most amazing wonders of the world. Millions of people come to the park between July and October to see wildebeests migrate (迁徙). Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park The name of this park was established in 1967 and it is situated 65 km north of Nairobi. It covers only20.7 km². If you want to do some bird-watching together with a sample of wildlife like buffalos, leopards, baboons, and mongooses, then this is the place for you! It’s particularly attractive for hikers or families wanting some freedom and exercise, outside their vehicles. Meru National Park Meru National Park, established in 1966, is located east of Meru, 350km from Nairobi. Covering an area of 870.44 km², it’s one of the best-known national parks in Kenya. Rainfall in this area is abundant, with 635-762mm in the west of the park and 305-356 mm in the east. The park has over 500 species of birds, and a wide range of wild animals, including African bush elephants, lions, African leopards, cheetahs, etc. 21. What is special about Sibiloi National Park? A. It is located in a coastal area. B. It has a large collection of wildlife. C. It is the oldest national park in Kenya. D. It is a place of archaeological discoveries. 22. Where can people observe the seasonal movement of animals? A. Maasai Mara. B. Meru National Park. C. Sibiloi National Park. D. Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park. 23. What do Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park and Meru National Park have in common? A. They are thickly forested areas. B. They were established in the same year. C. They offer hiking opportunities to visitors. D. They are great destinations for bird-watching. D 22. A 23. 根据“Sibiloi National Park”部分关键句“Sibiloi is also home to important archaeological (考古的) sites, including Koobi Fora where the fossil remains have contributed more to the understanding of human evolution than any other site on the continent. (锡比罗依也是重要考古遗址的所在地,包括科比福拉,在那里,化石遗骸对人类进化的理解比大陆上任何其他遗址都有更大的贡献。)”可知,锡比罗依国家公园是重要考古遗址的所在地,由此可知,锡比罗依国家公园的特别之处在于这是一个考古发现的地方。故选D项。 【22题详解】 细节理解题。根据“Maasai Mara”部分关键句“Millions of people come to the park between July and October to see wildebeests migrate (迁徙). (7月至10月期间,数百万人来到公园观看角马迁徙。)”可知,人们可以在这里看到角马迁徙,由此可知,马赛马拉国家公园可以观察到动物的季节性迁徙。故选A项。 根据“Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park”部分关键句“If you want to do some bird-watching together with a sample of wildlife like buffalos, leopards, baboons, and mongooses, then this is the place for you! (如果你想和水牛、豹子、狒狒和猫鼬等野生动物一起观鸟,那么这里就是你的地方!)”和“Meru National Park”部分关键句“The park has over 500 species of birds, and a wide range of wild animals, including African bush elephants, lions, African leopards, cheetahs, etc. (该公园有500多种鸟类和各种各样的野生动物,包括非洲丛林象、狮子、非洲豹、猎豹等。)”可知,在这两个公园都可以观察到鸟类,由此可知,这两各公园有的共同点在于都是观鸟的好去处。故选D项。 B A girl is driving with her parents when they spot watercress growing by the side of the road. Her parents stop and take her out of the back seat. They ask her to take off her shoes and roll up her jeans to help them gather it. It is the beginning of the story in Watercress, a picture book written by Andrea Wang. The story is based on her childhood. “My parents actually spotted watercress growing by the side of the road in Ohio where I grew up,” Wang says. “And I was horribly embarrassed to get out and gather the watercress from the dirty water. It really made me aware of how different I was from my friends. But for my parents, it brought back memories of their home country and it was a connection to their homeland that they had left behind.” The feeling of being ashamed of our parents is universal. We’ve probably all experienced that at some point. “I remember walking 20 feet behind my parents when we were walking down the street, pretending that I didn’t belong to them,” Wang laughs. The pictures in Watercress have drawn inspiration from Chinese landscape paintings, which often have mountains covered in clouds. “It always has felt dreamlike to me when I look at those paintings. And I thought it would be nice to bring it into my book because of its theme of memory,” Wang explains. Unlike the little girl in the story, Andrea Wang didn’t hear any story about her parents’ childhoods until she was an adult. “My parents were trying to protect me, by not telling me the hardships they went through,” Wang says. But as a kid, Wang remembers feeling disconnected from her history. “I think it’s really important for families to share what they can,” Wang says. “So that kids know that history and can feel a sense of pride in their culture.” 24. How did Andrea Wang feel when she was told to gather watercress? A. Excited. B. Curious. C. Scared. D. Ashamed. 25. What does the word “universal” underlined in paragraph 3 mean? A. Making sb feel a little bit angry. B. Being true at all times and in all places. C. Needing skill to do or understand. D. Being related to a particular group or society. 26. What does Andrea Wang say about Chinese landscape paintings? A. They are boring. B. They are difficult. C. They are beautiful. D. They are expensive. 27. What does Andrea Wang suggest parents do? A. Avoid talking about hardships. B. Explain whatever they went through. C. Tell their kids to be proud of their culture. D. Share some of their experiences with their kids. D 25. B 26. C 27. 根据文章第二段“And I was horribly embarrassed to get out and gather the watercress from the dirty water. It really made me aware of how different I was from my friends.(我十分尴尬地下车,从脏水里采水田芥。这让我知道我与朋友有多不一样。)”可知,当Andrea Wang被要求去采水田芥时,她感到很尴尬,感觉自己与其他朋友不一样,需要在脏水里采水田芥,故感到很羞愧,故选D。 【25题详解】 词义猜测题。根据文章第三段划线词universal后的内容“We’ve probably all experienced that at some point.(我们可能在某个时刻有过这种经历。)” 根据文章第四段““It always has felt dreamlike to me when I look at those paintings. And I thought it would be nice to bring it into my book because of its theme of memory,” Wang explains.( Wang解释道:“当我看到这些画时,这对我来说,像是做梦一样,把它放进我的书里是很不错的,因为它回忆的主题。”)” 根据文章最后一段““I think it’s really important for families to share what they can,” Wang says. “So that kids know that history and can feel a sense of pride in their culture.”(Wang说:“我认为家人一起分享他们能分享的东西真的很重要,这样的话,孩子就能了解历史,能体会文化的自豪感。”)” D。 C Most of us want to get in shape and be healthy. For many of us nutrition (营养) and watching what we eat is an important way to stay healthy. But when it comes to food, what is calorie counting, and what are the positives and negatives of it? A law in the UK came into force in April 2022 that requires restaurants, takeaways, and cafes to display the calorie information of non-pre-packed food and soft drinks on their menus. It’s a strategy aimed to deal with obesity (肥胖) and give people a more informed choice of what goes down into their stomachs. Being able to count calories and know how much we can eat is a great way to try and stay on track with our diet. However, there are some disbelievers when it comes to calorie counting. 200 calories of fresh fruit and 200 calories of junk food, for example cookies, have the same caloric value. However, there is a question of the health benefits of what you’re eating, regardless of calories. While fresh fruit like apples contains things like vitamin C, junk food could contain an unhealthy level of sugar and fats. Likewise (同样地), fruit may fill you up and leave you not wanting more food for longer than a biscuit with equal calories - meaning, overall, you eat less. Simply counting calories, while useful for weight loss, doesn’t take into account your intake of good fats, carbohydrates, and proteins - things that your body needs. So, if you’re trying to stick to a low-carbon diet, just looking at numbers of calories on a menu won’t be that useful. So, always be mindful that what you’re eating is part of a healthy balanced diet. 28. What’s the aim of the newly-passed law in the UK? A. To ensure food security. B. To direct the food industry. C. To help reduce obesity. D. To get tough with the businessmen. 29. What opinion do disbelievers hold? A. Calorie alone doesn’t contribute to health. B. Junk food has more calories than fresh fruit. C. Less calories mean less food in your stomach. D. Sugar and fats are more harmful than calories. 30. What’s the text mainly about? A. The best way to keep in shape. B. A research result of obesity in the UK. C. Nutrition and its health benefit. D. Opinions and comments on calorie counting. 31. From which section of a magazine is this text most likely taken? A. Entertainment. B. Lifestyle. C. Finance. D. Education. C 29. A 30. D 31. 根据第二段“A law in the UK came into force in April 2022 that requires restaurants, takeaways, and cafes to display the calorie information of non-pre-packed food and soft drinks on their menus. It’s a strategy aimed to deal with obesity (肥胖) and give people a more informed choice of what goes down into their stomachs. (英国一项法律于2022年4月生效,要求餐馆、外卖和咖啡馆在菜单上显示非预包装食品和软饮料的卡路里信息。这是一种旨在应对肥胖的策略,让人们更明智地选择哪些食物进入了他们的胃。)”可知,英国新通过的这项法律的目的是帮助减少肥胖。故选C。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“However, there are some disbelievers when it comes to calorie counting. 200 calories of fresh fruit and 200 calories of junk food, for example cookies, have the same caloric value. However, there is a question of the health benefits of what you’re eating, regardless of calories. (然而,有一些人不相信计算卡路里。200卡路里的新鲜水果和200卡路里的垃圾食品(如饼干)具有相同的热值。然而,不管卡路里多少,你所吃的东西对健康的益处是有问题的。)”可知,不相信的人认为热量本身对健康无益。故选A。 根据第一段“But when it comes to food, what is calorie counting, and what are the positives and negatives of it? (但说到食物,什么是卡路里计算,它的优点和缺点是什么?)”和最后一段“Simply counting calories, while useful for weight loss, doesn’t take into account your intake of good fats, carbohydrates, and proteins - things that your body needs. So, if you’re trying to stick to a low-carbon diet, just looking at numbers of calories on a menu won’t be that useful. So, always be mindful that what you’re eating is part of a healthy balanced diet.(简单地计算卡路里,虽然对减肥有用,但没有考虑到你摄入的有益脂肪、碳水化合物和蛋白质——你身体需要的东西。 B。 D Imagine a way to produce meat without killing animals. Instead of raising livestock on farms, Uma Valeti, a cardiologist, and co-founder of Upside Foods, dreamed of a way to “grow” meat by cultivating (培养) animal cells (细胞). The idea for what’s now called “cultivated” meat came to Valeti when he was working with heart attack patients at the Mayo Clinic more than 15 years ago, growing human heart cells in a lab. It should be possible to grow meat with similar science, he realized. Scientists could take cells from an animal by a needle biopsy (切片检查), place them in tanks, feed them the nutrients they need to reproduce, including fats, sugar, amino acids and vitamins, and end up with meat. It has taken years of experimentation by a crew of biologists, biochemists and engineers to turn that idea into a product ready to eat. Now the company is awaiting a greenlight from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin selling its first cultivated meat products, including a chicken fillet (without bone). After four years of talks with regulators at the FDA, Valeti expects this could happen “in the very near future”. When it does, Upside’s production facility in Emeryville, California, will be able to produce over 50,000 pounds of cultivated meat products per year. For Valeti, the potential benefits of cultivated meat are too important not to try to overcome the current obstacles. He sees a future with a better choice to the current system of producing meat, and he’s determined to create it. Valeti says, at last, as a doctor he might have been able to help a few thousand patients during his career. But, by taking the great step to cultivated meat, with its potential promise to surpass meat production, he believes he can have a larger impact. “This could literally affect billions of human lives and save potentially trillions of animal lives,” Valeti says. 32 What made Valeti come to the idea of making cultivated meat? A. His heart attack patients’ inspiring advice. B. The inspiration from growing human heart cell. C. His dreaming about a way to grow meat. D. The thought of helping his heart attack patients. 33. What can we learn from Paragraph 3? A. The company is waiting for the permission from FDA. B. The idea of cultivated meat turned into a product easily. C. Chicken fillets will be very popular in the future. D. FDA is a big company that makes and sells cultivated meat. 34 Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A. The cultivated meat is very popular among young people. B. Valeti has helped many patients with cultivated meat. C. Valeti is producing cultivated meat to avoid killing many animals. D. It will take decades before enormous cultivated meat is produced. 35. What is the passage mainly about? A. A cardiologist’s work on heart cell research. B. FDA’s regulation of traditional meat. C. Environmental issues in traditional livestock farming. D. Producing meat by cell cultivation and its benefits. B 33. A 34. C 35. 根据第二段中“The idea for what’s now called “cultivated” meat came to Valeti when he was working with heart attack patients at the Mayo Clinic more than 15 years ago, growing human heart cells in a lab. It should be possible to grow meat with similar science, he realized.(15 年多前,当瓦莱蒂在梅奥诊所为心脏病患者工作,在实验室里培养人类心脏细胞时,他产生了现在所谓的“培养肉”的想法。他意识到,用类似的科学方法来培育肉类应该是可行的)”可知,是培养人类心脏细胞的启发让Valeti有了制作培养肉的想法。故选B项。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Now the company is awaiting a greenlight from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin selling its first cultivated meat products, including a chicken fillet (without bone).(现在,该公司正在等待美国食品药品监督管理局(FDA)的批准,以便开始销售其首批培养肉产品,包括无骨鸡柳)”可知,该公司正在等待FDA的许可。故选A项。 根据第一段中“Imagine a way to produce meat without killing animals. Instead of raising livestock on farms, Uma Valeti, a cardiologist, and co founder of Upside Foods, dreamed of a way to “grow” meat by cultivating (培养) animal cells (细胞).(想象一种不杀死动物就能生产肉类的方法。心脏病专家、Upside Foods联合创始人Uma Valeti没有在农场饲养牲畜,而是梦想通过培养动物细胞来“种植”肉类)”可知,Valeti生产培养肉是为了避免杀死很多动物,所以C项“Valeti is producing cultivated meat to avoid killing many animals.” 通读全文,根据第一段“Imagine a way to produce meat without killing animals. Instead of raising livestock on farms, Uma Valeti, a cardiologist, and co founder of Upside Foods, dreamed of a way to “grow” meat by cultivating Nowadays we spend a lot of time on computers, phones and televisions. I studied three years in a country school, which is faraway. However, it has a good environment and strict but kind teachers, so I loved the school and all my teachers very much. One Friday, just as we began to read books in reading class at our desks, our teacher, Mrs. Hill, said that she needed to be out of the classroom for a few minutes. She asked the class to read in silence while she was gone. And she said that those who didn’t read books in silence would have to answer to her when she returned. It was well-known that Mrs. Hill was strict. So we had to be on our best behavior. But that Friday, Mrs. Hill hadn’t been gone for ten seconds before some students in the classroom started to talk. From one corner of the classroom I heard Josh ask Nick, “Can I trade my candies for your toy?” At the other end of the room I heard Samantha tell Kayla, “Let’s sit together on the bus for the museum field trip tomorrow.” And so it went all around me, until about half of the students talked with each other. After a while, I, too, forgot about Mrs. Hill’s instructions. I turned back and asked my friend Liza, “Can I borrow your storybook and keep it for a day?” As soon as the words were out of my mouth, Mrs. Hill walked into the classroom. The whole class returned to silence immediately. And we were full of fear. Mrs. Hill slowly looked around the classroom and said, “If you were talking while I was gone, then please stand up.” The guilt (内疚) suddenly weighed heavily on me. “I shouldn’t have talked while she was not in the classroom. And now I should be honest and admit my mistake bravely. This is what my parents have always told me, “I thought. Then, I gathered my courage to stand up, worrying about the punishment that waited for me. Then I looked around. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 To my surprise, no one followed me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With Mrs. Hill’s encouragement, another student stood up. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: To my surprise, no one followed me. I lowered my head alone and was filled with fear. After looking a-round for a while, Mrs. Hill walked towards me. Strangely, she asked in a soft voice, “Why did you dare to stand up?” I said I wanted to be honest and that I realized what I had done was wrong. Unexpectedly, Mrs. Hill was quite amazed by my answer and praised me for that. Then she returned to the front of the classroom and explained why we should be honest. With Mrs. Hill’s encouragement, another student stood up. Then more students followed until about half of the students stood up. Seeing it, Mrs. Hill praised us for our courage. Then, she asked us to sit down. We continued reading books. After we finished, Mrs. Hill reminded us to remember that everyone should be responsible for his behavior. We all agreed with her. And I was happy that in a way I set a good example to my classmates. 词汇激活 行为类 ①走向:walk towards/step towards/come up to ②想要做某事:want to do/intend to do/would like to do ③继续做某事:continue doing/go on doing 情绪类 ①满是恐惧:be filled with fear/be full of horror ②高兴的: happy/delighted 【点睛】[高分句型1]I said I wanted to be honest and that I realized what I had done was wrong. A. C Most of us want to get in shape and be healthy. B. Lifestyle. C. Finance. D. Education. D Imagine a way to produce meat without killing animals. It has taken years of experimentation by a crew of biologists biochemists and engineers to turn that idea into a product ready to eat. 32. What made Valeti come to the idea of making cultivated meat? A. His heart attack patients’ inspiring advice. B. The inspiration from growing human heart cell. C. His dreaming about a way to grow meat. D The thought of helping his heart attack patients. 33. What can we learn from Paragraph 3? A. The company is waiting for the permission from FDA. B. The idea of cultivated meat turned into a product easily. C. Chicken fillets will be very popular in the future. D. FDA is a big company that makes and sells cultivated meat. 34. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? 七选五 Nowadays we spend a lot of time on computers, phones and televisions. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $Another rainy day.
