British or American English?
1 Look at each picture and write a word with the same meaning.

Many people are learning English. However, British English and American English are different in some ways. Let’s take a look.
Americans use “-er” instead of “-re”, such as meter and center. They do not have “u” in “-our”, like color instead of colour.
2 Read the passage and tick the main idea.
The British and Americans use different words for food, clothing, and other things. For example, the British take a cab, but Americans take a taxi.
There are differences between British English and American English, but people can understand both.

British English is different from American English in some ways.
