When I got to school in the morning on the first day, I realized how large the school was, and how many students went there. I ended up in the wrong classroom because of the size of the school. Luckily, a kind senior showed up and guided me to my homeroom before I was late. I was happy to see that in a class of unfamiliar (不熟悉的) faces, the only open seat was next to my good friend Casey. My science teacher seemed like a good teacher. She was exciting and fun. After finishing four classes without too much of a challenge, I didn’t feel too bad about ninth grade. However, the fifth class changed everything. I didn’t feel ready after all. My teacher’s name is Mr. Valassidis but he told us to call him Mr. V. Mr. V told us that we would have to write 40 essays (文章) and read AP-level books such as The Odyssey this year. I love reading and writing. But come on. 40 ESSAYS? AP-level books? Now I was afraid. The courses in high school seem like they’re going to get much harder, but they haven’t yet. Even though my classes look hard, they look really exciting too. The first week passed quickly. Although a lot of things were overwhelming (令人不知所措的): the size of the campus, the crowds (人群) and the seniors, having a totally different experience than I had ever had before was really exciting. C In the 1994 film Forrest Gump, there's a famous saying, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get. The surprise is part of the fun. Now blind box toys(盲盒)are bringing the magic of surprise to online shopping. A blind box toy is hidden inside similar boxes but invisible from the outside. You don't know what will be inside, although the toys typically come from pop culture, ranging from movies to comics and cartoons. Blind boxes have become popular since they were first introduced from Japan to China in 2014. According to a 2019 Tmall report, the mini-series of Labubu blind box designed by Hong Kong-born Kasing Lung, was named Champion of Unit Sales with 55, 000 sold in just 9 seconds during the Singles Day shopping event. Most customers for blind boxes are young people aged 18 to 35. According to The Paper, blind box toys are popular in part because of their cute appearances. The typically cute cartoon figures(人物)come in small sizes, making them suitable for display almost anywhere. Even if blind boxes are not their top choice for decorations, the mystery and uncertainty of the process also attracts people. It's the main reason why people buy blind boxes one after another. "Expecting the unknown is always a part of the box-opening process," said Miss Cao, 24, who lives and works in Shenyang. Speaking to Sina News, she said: "Until you open all the boxes, you cannot know what it is inside." Opening a blind box is a delightful little surprise for our mundane daily lives, something small but fun to wait for each day, week or month. When people open this simple little box, they may be disappointed, but the uncertainty is part of the fun. People will open more blind boxes and hope for a better outcome. When someone re-makes Forrest Gump, don't be surprised if he says, "Life is like a blind box." 8. What do we know about blind boxes? A. They may bring surprise to our life. B. They are visible from the outside. C. They are popular among all ages. D. They were first designed in 2014. 9. Why do people buy blind boxes according to Miss Cao? A. Because blind boxes are fashionable gifts. B. Because blind boxes are educational gifts. C. Because people enjoy box-opening process. D. Because people prefer the colorful boxes. 10. What does the underlined word "mundane" probably mean? A. Wonderful B. Interesting C. Amazing. D. Boring. 11. Where is the text most likely from? A. A diary. B. A magazine. C. A novel. D. A guidebook. D Adults who had close contact with natural spaces during their childhood could have a better mental health than those who had less contact, according to a new study by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (IS Global),an institution supported by “la Calxa,” involving four European cities—Spain, the Netherlands, Lithuania and the UK. The all-adult study gave 3,600 participants a questionnaire on how frequently they used natural spaces during childhood — for example, playing in a garden, riding a bike at the park or hiking in a forest. They were also asked about the importance they put on using such places. Volunteers were then given a psychological test, which included a variety of questionnaires and problem-solving activities, to analyze their nervousness and feelings of depression within a four-week period. The results consistently showed that the people who were more exposed (暴露的) to natural spaces had higher mental health scores compared to those with lower childhood exposure — as did those who attached higher importance to using green spaces. The study’s coordinator (协调员), Wilma Zijlema, wrote that the results “show the importance of childhood exposure to natural spaces for the development of a nature-appreciating attitude and a healthy psychological state in adulthood”. She also stressed the importance of “recognizing the meaning of growing up in environments with limited opportunities for exposure to nature”. According to the study, 73 percent of Europe’s population only has limited access (接触机会) to natural spaces. Mark Nieuwenhuijsen, director of IS Global’s Urban Planning, said that “Many children in Europe lead an indoors lifestyle, so it would be desirable to make natural outdoor environments available, attractive and safe for them to play in. We make a call on policymakers to improve the availability of natural spaces for children and green school yards.” While this study was based in Europe, a lack of green space can affect anyone, anywhere. So remember to make time to immerse yourself in nature, as your mental health is just as important as the physical one. 12. What can we learn about the study according to Paragraph one? A. It was carried out only in four European cities. B. It is supported by all the adults who are physically healthy. C. It indicates the more contact with nature, the happier one’s childhood will be. D. It shows adulthood mental health could be related to childhood exposure to nature. 13. What do we know about the study? A. The participants were from all over the world. B. The participants included both children and adults. C. It focused on the participants’ physical health state. D. It consisted of a questionnaire and a psychological test. 14. What do Paragraphs 5-6 mainly talk about? A. The process of the study. B. The method of the study. C. The value of the study. D. The difficulties of the study. 15. Which of the following is a suitable title of the passage? A. Importance of Physical Health. B. Benefits of Natural Green Spaces. C. Values of Psychological examinations. D. Problems of Europe’s Young Population. 第二节(共5小题:每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。 Five Steps to Better Handwriting Some kids love handwriting, but others hate it when it’s time to put their pen to paper. However, I always ignored the area behind my ears on purpose though my mom would often remind me. One summer, in July of that year, my mom drove me to my grandparents’ house for our annual summer holiday visit. When we arrived, I was told that Grandma had gone on a trip with her friends and wouldn’t be back for another two weeks. Feeling a bit down, I went to the yard to play while my mom and grandpa caught up on some things. Although I couldn’t hear their conversation clearly, I had a strong feeling they were talking about me based on their gestures and expressions. Later, my mom returned home, and she would come back to pick me up two months later. After dinner that night, Grandpa asked me to take a bath before going to bed. Since I loved taking baths, I happily agreed. With the bathtub (浴缸) filled with water, Grandpa reminded me, “Just make sure you clean the area behind your ears really well. You wouldn’t want potatoes to start growing there, would you?” “Potatoes?” I stopped in my tracks and turned back to look at him. “Yes, potatoes. If you don’t clean the dirt behind your ears, potatoes might actually sprout (发芽) and grow there,” he explained, causing my eyes to widen in surprise. “But I don’t have any potatoes behind my ears, Grandpa,” I said as I ran my fingers along the back of my ears. He took a quick glance and replied, “Oh, I see a couple of sprouts: starting right there!” He urged me to get into the bathtub immediately and scrub (擦洗) them away thoroughly. I nodded, still in disbelief. This was the first time I had ever heard such a thing. Why hadn’t my parents warned me about this before? I wondered, but couldn’t find an answer. Nonetheless, I felt shocked by Grandpa’s warning. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I hurried to jump into the bathtub, carefully scrubbing behind my ears. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “What are you looking at behind your ears?” Grandma asked me curiously. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 亳州二中2025—2026学年第一学期第一次教学质量检测 高一英语试题 (试卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟) 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? I didn’t want summer to end, but I was excited about going to high school for my first week. Now, I’m really happy about high school. I have lots of friends in my classes, I really like my teachers and I’m meeting new people. 4. D. (或许他们只是对自己的书写感到担忧。你是否也是其中之一?好消息是:几乎所有人都能提升自己的书写水平)”指出改善书写水平是可能的事,后文段落列出具体的五个步骤,此处需要承上启下的过渡句,引出具体步骤,因此F项“Here are five steps that really help you (以下是真正能帮助你的五个步骤)”符合语境,呼应短文标题,引出后文,其中的“five steps”在标题中有同词复现。故选F。 【17题详解】 前文“But when you hold your pencil the correct way, writing is much easier. (不过当你用正确的方式握笔时,书写会变得轻松许多)”指出正确握笔方式的好处,后文“Hold it in place with your thumb, and your index (食指) and middle fingers. (用拇指、食指和中指稳稳地固定住铅笔)”描述具体的握法,此处需补充正确握笔方式的说明,因此G项“The best way to hold a pencil is to rest it next to the base of your thumb (最佳握笔姿势是将铅笔靠近拇指根部放置)”符合语境,承接前文,和后文语义连贯,其中的“a pencil”是后文“it”的指代对象。故选G。 【18题详解】 前文“Those lines can help you create letters that are of the right size and proportion (比例). (还要确保完全填满线条空间)”给出另一建议,提醒字母和线条空间的关系,此处需具体说明大小比例关系,因此C项“So “a” should be half the height of a capital “A” (因此小写字母“a”的高度应是大写字母“A”的一半)”符合语境,承接前文。故选C。 【19题详解】 本段标题“Lower the pressure (降低压力)”建议写字时避免过度用力,后文“That makes it harder to make the smooth lines. (这样会导致线条难以保持流畅)”指出某行为会导致线条不流畅,此处需点出该行为是过度用力,因此D项“Some kids press down really hard when they write (有些孩子写字时用力过猛)”符合语境,呼应标题,引出后文,选项内容是后文“That”指代的对象,其中的“really hard”和标题中的“the pressure”呼应。故选D。 【20题详解】 后文“Lots of games need you to write or draw pictures. So even though it’s not schoolwork, you’re still using the skills you need to control your pencil better. Last week I was in the boarding area of the airport, excited about my trip home to see my parents. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: I hurried to jump into the bathtub, carefully scrubbing behind my ears. I spent a considerable amount of time ensuring every bit of dirt was gone. When I finally finished bathing, I grabbed a handheld mirror and carefully checked each ear for any signs of potato sprouts. Grandpa noticed my actions and checked my ears with a smile, saying, “Ah, the potato sprouts are all gone.” I felt relieved. From that day forward, I developed a habit of cleaning the area behind my ears and even using mirrors to check. Eventually, Grandma returned home. That evening, as I examined my ears once again, she noticed. “What are you looking at behind your ears?” Grandma asked me curiously. “I’m checking for ‘potato sprouts’,” I replied. She stared at me, puzzled. After I explained, she chuckled and said, “Oh, your grandpa was just teasing you.” “What?” I exclaimed. It was then that I realized I had been completely fooled and then burst into laughter with Grandma. Despite the childish trick, I continued to clean the area behind my ears regularly because it had already become a habit. Grandpa continued with his other “ear stories” for years to come. I was deeply touched by his sense of humor and wisdom. 词汇激活 行为类 ①确保:ensure/guarantee ②完成:finish/complete ③注意到:notice/spot/observe ④回家:return home/come back home ⑤回复:reply/answer ⑥解释:explain/clarify ⑦意识到:realize/recognize 情绪类 ①疑惑的:puzzled/confused ②感动:touch/move 【点睛】[高分句型1] When I finally finished bathing, I grabbed a handheld mirror and carefully checked each ear for any signs of potato sprouts.
