I still remember my first day at senior high school as if it happened yesterday. That morning, I woke up earlier than usual. The sky was still dark, but I was too nervous to sleep any longer. After breakfast, I checked my schoolbag again and again, afraid that I might forget something important. With my uniform (制服) on, I stood in front of the mirror for a while, trying to look more confident, though my heart was beating fast.
The school gate was crowded with new students. Some were talking loudly, while others looked as nervous as I felt. When I entered my classroom, I chose a seat near the window. For a few minutes, nobody spoke to me. I felt a little lonely and wondered if the whole day would be this hard.
Then our headteacher came in. With a warm smile, she welcomed us and encouraged us not to be afraid of challenges. Her words gave me some courage. Soon it was time to introduce ourselves. My hands were wet with sweat, but I forced myself to stand up. I said my name, my junior high school, and even shared my interest in writing stories. To my surprise, several classmates smiled at me, and one girl said that she liked writing too. At that moment, I felt the ice breaking.
In the afternoon, we had our first physics experiment. I was not very confident, but I decided to take the first step. I suggested a method to my group, and though it was not perfect, it helped us finish on time. The teacher praised our teamwork, and my group members gave me a thumbs-up. A sense of pride replaced my earlier fear.
On the way home, I realized something important. The first day had not been easy, but because I tried to be brave and active, it turned out much better than I expected. A beginning full of effort and courage can light up the path ahead, making the days to come less frightening and more hopeful.
4. How did the author feel in the early morning of the first day?
A. Terribly nervous. B. Quite calm.
C. Rather frightened. D. Very confident.

6. What did the author do during the physics experiment?
A. The author made some mistakes.
B. The author made a helpful suggestion.
C. The author asked the teacher a question.
D. The author worked alone without teamwork.
7. What lesson did the author learn from the first day at senior high?
A. No pain, no gain. B. Practice makes perfect.
C. Well begun is half done. D. The early bird catches the worm.

We all know sitting too long is bad for you. Our bodies aren’t made for sitting so much — it can lessen the good of exercise and even cause discomfort in the buttocks (臀部). Sitting isn’t exactly “the new smoking,” but too much of it can still make your life shorter.
“Sitting actually makes you age faster,” said Katy Bowman, an expert on body movement and the writer of My Perfect Movement Plan. She added that many things people think are signs of aging — like weak bones or joints (关节), less muscle, or low energy — are greatly affected (影响) by how much time they spend sitting.
Americans sit a lot every day. Experts don’t agree on the exact number, but it could be as long as 9.5 hours. Studies show women sit a little less than men, but almost everyone sits more than people did in the past.
The results of too much sitting are serious. Earlier this year, a study looked at 480,000 people in Hong Kong who were over 13. It found that those with sedentary jobs had a 34% higher risk of dying from heart disease than those who sat less during the workday. Their overall risk of dying was also 16% higher.
Sitting for a long time hurts your heart, joints, muscles, and mood. Even 30 minutes of non-stop sitting can affect how your blood vessels work. Sitting over 4 hours can press on your back and cause pain. After 30 minutes of sitting, your leg and buttock muscles stop working—over time, they get weak and cause pain. Sitting also burns little energy, which can lead to weight gain and Type 2 diabetes. It even makes you more likely to feel sad or worried, and hurts your thinking ability.
To lower these risks, the study’s writers said people can add 15 to 30 minutes of exercise to their daily routine. Other studies say people who sit a lot need to do twice the usual weekly exercise. Neville Owen, a scientist from Australia, said, “The main thing is: sitting too much is a big new health risk.”
8. What can we learn about sitting for a long time from paragraph 1?
A. It is as harmful as smoking.
B. It is suitable for our body’s design.
C. It can weaken the benefits of exercise.
D It can make senior citizens age faster.
9. What is the purpose of paragraph 3?
A. To explain why sitting habits differ.
B. To compare male and female health.
C. To show how common too much sitting is.
D. To recommend ways to control sitting time.
10. What does the underlined word “sedentary” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Needing little movement.
B. Providing high income.
C. Requiring low concentration.
D. Depending on partners.
11. How can people lower the health risks caused by sitting according to the text?
A. By taking work more seriously.
B. By working out more than usual.
C. By exercising for 15 minutes every hour.
D. By changing their diet instead of exercising.
D
When it comes to most new technologies, early users usually know and understand the tools best. With artificial intelligence(AI), the opposite seems to be true. This finding comes from new research, which suggests that the people most drawn to AI are those who understand the technology the least. AI seems mysterious (神秘的) and even magical to these people, the researchers found, leading to a sense of wonder about AI’s ability to complete tasks. This is especially true when the task is traditionally related to human skills, such as writing a poem or creating a new dish.
“When you don’t really understand what’s happening inside, AI creating these things seems amazing, and that’s when it can feel magical,” says Stephanie Tully, an associate professor of marketing at the University of Southern California and one of the study’s authors. “And that feeling can actually increase people’s willingness to use it.”
That finding goes against the idea that more knowledge will naturally lead to more use of AI. “In other areas, like wine (葡萄酒), the people who know the most about it are wine lovers,” says Tully.
Across seven studies, the researchers checked people’s AI literacy (认知水平) in different ways, including a 25-item questionnaire they created and a 17-question test created using two AI systems.
In one experiment, the researchers asked 234 students to take the test and then imagine writing four papers, such as one about World War I or a poem about love in Venice. The students were asked if they would use a free AI system to help them.
The students with lower AI literacy were more likely to use AI than those with higher AI literacy. It wasn’t about believing that AI is smarter or more useful than their own knowledge, says Chiara Longoni, a co-author. It was about how unthinkable it is that AI can complete human-like tasks.
In other studies, including those in 27 countries, people with lower AI literacy also showed stronger willingness to use AI. Those with higher literacy, however, understood that AI is just a program, not magic.
12. What does paragraph 1 focus on?
A. The research method.
B. The research results.
C. The research subjects.
D. The research background.
13. What does Stephanie Tully want to show by mentioning wine?
A. Wine lovers usually know a lot about wine.
B. AI is the same as other common daily things.
C. Having more knowledge brings more interest.
D. People’s attitude to AI is opposite to that to wine.
14. What can we learn from the experiment?
A. Students had to write four real papers with AI.
B. The test for the students included 25 questions.
C. Students with high AI literacy refused to use AI.
D. Students with low AI literacy used AI more often.
15. What is the best title for the text?
A. Why Some People Use AI.
B. How Students Learn to Use AI.
C. How AI Literacy Affects AI Use.
D. Why AI seems Magical to People.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)

It’s Sunday afternoon. As evening nears, you may feel scared (恐惧的) because tomorrow is Monday. Many people have “Sunday scaries” — anxiety about the new week. A 2022 survey found over 25% of Americans take longer to sleep on Sundays, with young people having higher rates. But the good news is, even though “Sunday scaries” are so common, there are simple strategies to ease these uneasy feelings.
Check your anxious thoughts
____16____ If you fear “I’ll never finish Monday’s emails” stop and ask: “What’s more realistic?” You might feel busy at first, but you’ll probably get through those emails in 1 — 2 hours. Don’t let unrealistic thoughts make you more stressed.
Relax with your five senses
Use your sight, sound, touch, taste and smell to calm down fast. Light warm candles for soft light, play your favorite music, make a cup of tea, use nice-smelling oils, and put on clean, soft clothes. ____17____
Do the opposite of what anxiety tells you
Anxiety often pushes you to hide — like staying in bed all Sunday or only watching TV. ____18____ Instead, go for a short walk outside, tidy your small garden, or have dinner with a friend. You’ll soon feel lighter in mood.
Plan daily fun activities
Monday feels bad mostly because we relate it to tiring work. Plan 15 minutes of fun for each day — like listening to a funny comedian on your way to school or reading an interesting story during lunch. ____19____
Remember anxiety will pass
When anxiety hits, you may think it’ll last forever. But emotions are just like ocean waves: they grow, reach a peak (顶峰), then slowly disappear. ____20____ Just watch it get weaker, and it won’t scare you anymore.
A. No emotion stays with you forever.
B. These small acts help you relax quickly.
C. Allow any emotion to get the better of you.
D. Write down worries about the coming week first.
E. You will return to the past when things calm down.
F. But avoiding things will make your anxiety worse later.
G. Remember to plan small joys for Tuesday to Thursday too.

Emma and I used to be very close. Every morning, she brought strawberry candies from her hometown, and I shared my homemade chocolate chip cookies. After school, we walked home together, talking about our favorite cartoons or complaining (抱怨)about Mr. Smith’s hard maths problems. We also liked giving each other small notes with little drawings or kind words to make each other happy.
But everything changed when her wallet went missing. I was the only one who knew she always kept it in the small pocket of her blue schoolbag. Emma had once told me that the wallet was very special — it was a birthday gift from her late grandma, and she carried it with her every day. I had seen her put it carefully in her bag many times.
On Thursday morning, Emma took all her books and notebooks out of her bag, looking through each one nervously. Her hands shook a little, and her face turned pale when she could not find the wallet. She even checked the small pouch (小袋) in her pencil case and the inside pocket of her water bottle bag, her eyes showing fear. Suddenly, she looked at me, full of doubt. “You must have taken it! No one else knows where I put it!” she shouted. I tried to say, “I didn’t take it, I promise,” but she closed her bag, turned her chair away, and would not listen to me.
For the next three days, we did not exchange a single sentence. She moved her desk slightly away from mine and avoided me at lunch. She even stopped bringing candies to school. After school, I saw her walking ahead of me on the sidewalk, head down, kicking small stones as the wind blew. I wanted to call her name, but I could not make a sound. I left a pink note in her maths book: “I’m here if you want to talk,” but it stayed there, untouched. All our happy moments seemed gone.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
One cold Monday morning, Emma walked over to me, head down.

I sincerely hope this term’s English class will be full of fun and practical activities, helping me improve my speaking and writing. I’m looking forward to your class!

【答案】 One cold Monday morning, Emma walked over to me, head down. She held her blue schoolbag in front of her and spoke softly, “I… I found my wallet at home.” She explained that she had taken some money out a few days ago and forgotten to put the wallet back in her bag properly. It had been hiding in a drawer all along. Her eyes were full of regret as she said, “I’m really sorry for accusing you.” I smiled gently and replied, “It’s okay, I understand,” feeling a weight lift from both of us.
That day we sat together at lunch again. I looked at Emma and said softly, “I hope something like this never comes between us again.” She nodded, a small smile appearing on her face, and we started talking quietly, first about homework, then about cartoons. As we shared a piece of chocolate and one of my cookies, it felt like our friendship was slowly returning, stronger for having been tested. For the first time in days, I felt truly happy to be sitting next to her again.
