根据文章“Stating the performance and choice of seats, enclosing a cheque, postal order, or your credit card details to Oscar Theatre Box Office, PO Box 220, Main street.” A选项“A group of ten adults going to a performance can claim a discount.” A school party of 15 persons that book in advance pay $135 in total for a performance. 文中school parties of ten or more can book $9 tickets in advance and will get every tenth ticket free. Someone accompanying a wheelchair user to a performance receives a discount. 文中half-price seats are available for people with disabilities and one companion. An 18-year-old teenager is eligible for Saver discounts. Savers are available for children up to 16 years old, 根据文章Standby部分的best available seats are on sale for $6 from one hour before the performance for people eligible(有资格的) for Saver and Supersaver discounts and thirty minutes before for all other customers. B School clubs are more than just extracurricular activities. They are a vital part of school life that can make learning more enjoyable and help students grow. Academic (学术的) clubs encourage students to participate in learning beyond the classroom. For instance, a math club might hold competitions and group talks that help students think in new ways and understand difficult ideas better. A science club could do fun experiments showing how school lessons work in real life. These activities make learning more interesting and help students remember what they study. Confidence plays an important role in both academic success and social interactions. Clubs offer a supportive environment where students can discover new passions and get better at things they enjoy. Whether speaking in a debate club, acting in a theatre club, or building robots in a tech club, students get praised for their work, which makes them feel good about themselves. Overcoming challenges in a club setting — such as presenting in front of an audience or leading a group project — helps them become stronger and more confident in all parts of life. Besides learning skills, clubs help students make friends. When students like the same things, they become friends who can share thoughts, get advice and help each other. Liking the same things creates strong friendships that continue after school. Feeling part of a group is especially helpful during tough school times, giving students support and reasons to keep trying. Clubs naturally need teamwork, whether planning activities, sharing materials, or working toward group goals. Through these experiences, students learn to work well with others, divide up jobs, and solve problems together. Being a club leader, like president or project helper, teaches students to be reliable, make choices, and encourage their classmates. These lessons prepare students to work well with others and lead with confidence in the future. School clubs offer endless opportunities for personal development, fun, and friendship. Whether you are already a club member or are thinking about joining one, remember that every club experience is a step toward becoming the best version of yourself. 4. What is the main benefit of joining academic clubs? A. They focus on group competitions. B. They offer fun after-school activities. C. They give students more after-class exercises. D. They help students learn outside the classroom. 5. How do school clubs help students make friends? A. By creating a competitive environment. B. By offering both fun and learning experiences. C. By creating a space for students to meet different people. D. By allowing students to meet others with similar interests. 6. What can we infer about club leadership roles? A. They are mainly about organizing events. B. They involve working without considering others’ ideas. C. They help students improve their academic performance. D. They teach students how to manage complex tasks. 7. Where does this text probably come from? A. A student handbook. B. A research paper. C. A teacher’s blog. D. A business website. D 5. D 6. D 7. 根据第四段“Besides learning skills, clubs help students make friends. When students like the same things, they become friends who can share thoughts, get advice and help each other. Liking the same things creates strong friendships that continue after school.(除了学习技能之外,社团还能帮助学生结交朋友。当学生们喜欢相同的事物时,他们就会成为朋友,能够分享想法、寻求建议并互相帮助。喜欢相同的事物会建立起深厚的友谊,这种友谊在放学后也能持续存在)”可知,学校社团通过让同学们有机会遇到与自己有相同兴趣的人,帮助学生结交朋友。故选D。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“Being a club leader, like president or project helper, teaches students to be reliable, make choices, and encourage their classmates. These lessons prepare students to work well with others and lead with confidence in the future.(作为社团负责人(如社团主席或项目助手),会教导学生要守信、做出选择,并鼓励同学们。这些课程能帮助学生学会与他人良好合作,并在未来自信地领导他人)”可知,俱乐部的领导角色教学生如何处理复杂任务。故选D。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“School clubs are more than just extracurricular activities. They are a vital part of school life that can make learning more enjoyable and help students grow.(学校社团不仅仅是课外活动而已。 A。 C Wildfires in Australia, heat waves across Europe, floods in South Asia... Climate change continues to make headlines around the world, yet many people still find it hard to understand, as many of these events are remote (遥远的) from their daily lives. But every person contributes to climate change, with the average carbon footprint (碳足迹) reaching 6 tonnes every year. So the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has teamed up with Sony PlayStation platform, Dreams, to create an immersive (沉浸式的) virtual reality (VR) experience about climate change. The experience includes high technologies that heighten (增强) it for viewers; 3D pictures, and surrounding sound that makes users feel like the noise is all around them. In the experience, your carbon footprint is shown as an 18-meter-high orange gas ball. This ball guides you through different everyday moments, like eating breakfast, which then turns into rising sea Level’s. Ligia Noronha, director of the economy division at UNEP, said that 2.6 billion people play games, which makes gaming one of the biggest communication media on the planet. Since one in five gamers is under the age of 21 and many young people today are worried about climate change, there is a great opportunity to spur environmental and nature-focused action with gaming. Hopefully, the experience can push young gamers to take action. “We want to take creative measures to deal with the problems holding people back from understanding their role in climate change,” she said. “By placing this story in VR, we hope to challenge some common misunderstandings and urge people to think about their carbon footprint in the same way again.” “Gaming has a wide reach across the world, and has the power to bring social change,” said Kieren Mayers, director of environment and technical compliance at Sony Interactive Environment. “We have partnered with UNEP to explore different ways to use gaming and VR to educate and bring messages of hope and are excited to see this video as one of the first efforts in this.” 8. Why do UNEP and Sony work together? A. To measure each user’s carbon footprint in real time. B. To teach people ways of preventing natural disasters. C. To create a new video game about many natural disasters. D. To improve people’s understanding of climate change. 9. What is paragraph 2 mainly about? A. How people can reduce their daily carbon footprint. B. How the VR experience teaches about climate change. C. How UNEP and Sony work together on a new project. D. How daily meals influence sea levels around the world. 10. What does the underlined word “spur” in paragraph 3 probably mean?· A. Value. B. Encourage. C. Understand. D. Evaluate. 11. What is stressed in Kieren Mayers’ statement in the last paragraph? A. The challenge of VR technology. B. The popularity of educational games. C. Sony’s advantages in game development. D. Gaming’s role in making positive change. D 9. B 10. B 11. 根据第一段中“So the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has teamed up with Sony PlayStation platform, Dreams, to create an immersive (沉浸式的) virtual reality (VR) experience about climate change.(因此,联合国环境规划署(UNEP)与索尼PlayStation平台Dreams合作,创建了一个关于气候变化的沉浸式虚拟现实体验)”和第三段中“Since one in five games is under the age of 21 and many young people today are worried about climate change, there is a great opportunity to spur environmental and nature-focused action with gaming. Hopefully, the experience can push young games to take action.(鉴于五分之一的游戏玩家年龄在21岁以下,而当今许多年轻人都对气候变化感到担忧,因此通过游戏来推动环保和自然保护行动潜力巨大。希望这种体验能激励年轻玩家采取行动)”可知,联合国环境规划署和索尼合作制作了一个关于气候变化的沉浸式虚拟现实体验游戏,是为了提高人们对气候变化的认识。故选D项。 【9题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第二段“The experience includes high technologies that heighten (增强) it for viewers; 3D pictures, and surrounding sound that makes users feel like the noise is all around them. In the experience, your carbon footprint is shown as an 18-meter-high orange gas ball. This ball guides you through different everyday moments, like eating breakfast, which then turns into rising sea Level’s.(这种体验包括为观众增强的高科技;3D图像和环绕声让用户感觉噪音就在他们周围。在体验中,你的碳足迹显示为一个18米高的橙色气球。这个球会引导你经历不同的日常时刻,比如吃早餐,然后变成海平面上升)”可知,第二段主要介绍了虚拟现实体验是如何教导人们关于气候变化的知识的。故选B项。 【10题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线词所在句“Since one in five gamers is under the age of 21 and many young people today are worried about climate change, there is a great opportunity to spur environmental and nature-focused action with gaming.(鉴于五分之一的游戏玩家年龄在21岁以下,而当今许多年轻人都对气候变化感到担忧,因此这是通过游戏来spur环保和自然保护行动的绝佳机会)”中“Since”引导的原因状语从句可知,许多年轻人对气候变化感到担忧,所以游戏是一个促使他们采取行动的机会。 根据最后一段中Kieren Mayers说的话“Gaming has a wide reach across the world, and has the power to bring social change(游戏在世界范围内有着广泛的受众,并且有能力带来社会变革)”可推知,Kieren Mayers强调了游戏在带来社会变革方面的作用。故选D项。 D Canada is a bilingual country with “co-official” languages. English and French enjoy equal status (地位) as the official languages of all federal (联邦的) government institutions in Canada. This means that the public has the right to communicate with and receive services from federal government institutions in either English or French. Federal government staff have the right to work in the official language of their choice in designated (指定的) bilingual regions. Like the United States, Canada started as a colony (殖民地). Beginning in the 1500s, it was part of New France but later became a British colony after the Seven Years’ War: As a result, the Canadian government accepted the languages of both colonizers: France and England. The Constitution Act (宪法法案) of 1867 legally accepts the use of both languages in federal courts (联邦法院). Years later, Canada contributed more to bilingualism when it passed the Official Languages Act of 1969, which restated the constitutional origins of its co-official languages and set out the protections afforded by its dual-language status. Acceptance of both English and French protects the rights of all Canadians. Among other benefits, the 1969 Act stated that Canadian citizens should be able to access federal laws and government documents, whether their native language was French or English. The general law also requires that products should be equipped with bilingual packaging throughout the country. The Canadian federal government is devoted to advancing the equality of status and use of the English and French languages within Canadian society and provides support to the development of English and French linguistic minority communities. However, the reality is that most Canadians speak English. and of course, many Canadians speak another language entirely. Although the federal government theoretically ensures bilingual services in all areas, there are many regions of Canada where English is the clear majority language, so the local government does not always seek services in French in those regions. Canadians use the phrase “where numbers warrant” to show whether a local population’s language usage needs bilingual services from the federal government. While many Canadians are bilingual, they are not only speaking English or French. Statistics Canada finds that more than 200 languages that were not English or French, were reported as a language spoken by its people. About two-thirds of the respondents who spoke one of these languages also spoke either English or French. 12. What causes the acceptance of two official languages in Canada? A. The convenience for business dealings by using two languages in the country. B. The language-using tradition caused by Canada’s colonial history. C. The welcome attitude toward tourists from all over the world. D. The mastery of two languages of Canadians due to school education. 13. In reality, what decides that federal bilingual services are necessary? A. The legal order from the federal government. B. The popularity of the language in the country. C. The number of schools teaching the language. D. The number of local people using the language. 14. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage? A. Both French and English should be used on products in Canada. B. The legal court usage of French and English was established in Canada in 1969. C. English has gained superior legal position to French because of more users in Canada. D. Canadian people speak either French or English in social communication. 15. What is the main idea of the passage? A. The advantage of using two languages in Canada. B. The history and current situation of two languages used in Canada. C. The disadvantaged status of the French language used in Canada. D. Canadians’ advancements in balancing two languages in political world. 【答案】12 B 13. D 14. A 15. 根据第二段“Like the United States, Canada started as a colony (殖民地). Beginning in the 1500s, it was part of New France but later became a British colony after the Seven Years’ War: As a result, the Canadian government accepted the languages of both colonizers: France and England.(与美国一样,加拿大最初也是一个殖民地。自16世纪开始,它属于新法兰西,但在七年战争之后成为英国的殖民地:因此,加拿大政府接纳了这两个殖民者的语言:法语和英语)”可知,在加拿大,两种官方语言被接受是因为加拿大被殖民的历史造成了两种语言的使用传统。故选B。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“Canadians use the phrase “where numbers warrant” to show whether a local population’s language usage needs bilingual services from the federal government.(加拿大人使用“在数量足够多的情况下”这一表述,来判断当地人群的语言使用情况是否需要联邦政府提供双语服务)”可知,是否需要联邦政府提供双语服务是由当地说法语或英语的人数来决定的。 根据第三段“The general law also requires that products should be equipped with bilingual packaging throughout the country.(该通用规定还要求,所有产品在全国范围内都应配备双语包装)”可知,A选项“在加拿大,产品包装上应同时使用法语和英语”正确。故选A。 B。 E From where I live on the coast of California’s Monterey Peninsula, there is no easy way to go anywhere. We have roads with views that will take your breath away, but few fast lanes. To go north to San Francisco, you take the Old Coast Highway, and then go ahead to 101, a multilane freeway, which, depending on weather and traffic, will finally get you where you’re going or drive you crazy. But the part I feared most was a narrow two-lane stretch of a road that connected the two in the south, where I grew up, such roads are called cow trails. Roads are like people; they have personalities — colored by how we see and feel about them at particular times. My husband taught me this about roads. Randy was an athlete, body and soul. A high school basketball coach, he loved and worked out with his teams. He was a marathoner who could run miles and not be tired. In 25 years of teaching he rarely had a sick day. And then he had cancer. So we began another race down another road: a four-year-long marathon to Stanford University Medical Center for surgeries (手术), radiation, chemo and more than a few emergencies. And to get to the hospital we had to travel those impossible roads — 91 miles, two hours. I hated every minute and inch. I especially hated that traffic-crowded two-lane bottleneck. Then they started construction. Randy never complained. But as he grew weaker, I tried to avoid that cow trail to shorten our drive. I spent hours with maps but found that there was no getting around it. I had no choice but to drive it. Once, when we were running late for an appointment, I muttered, “I hate this stupid road.” “Four miles,” he said. I looked over. His eyes were closed. “What did you say?” I asked. “This part of the road,” he said in his calm voice. “It’s only four miles long. That’s easy. You can do anything for four miles.” I checked the odometer (里程表). He was right. Four miles exactly. I could have sworn it was 20. Suddenly the drive got easier. Four miles was doable and understandable. It was the distance we walked in the evening from our house to the beach and back. It was half the length of a mountain trail he loved to hike in Yosemite, with a baby on his back. Four short trips to our local park to play catch with our kids. A part of the 26 miles he once ran in the Big Sur International Marathon. Four miles was nothing — certainly not a space or time worth wasting in anger when he had only months to live. So I stopped complaining. I started really looking. And there appeared green acres of fields that shined in the sun. Strawberries and roses stand at the roadside. And there was an old white horse watching cars running down the open road. Those things had always been there, but I had never noticed. Randy taught me how to see them. Now when the road is long and hard, I break it into pieces in my soul. I divide it into four-mile stretches. You can endure anything for four miles — even find beauty and acceptance along the way. 16. What can be learnt from paragraph 1? A. You can drive crazily on 101 on a fine day. B. The roads are very dangerous and breathtaking. C. The cow trail joined the Old Coast Highway and 101. D. The roads to go north are narrow and rough. 17. What can be inferred from the last but one paragraph? A. Four miles was nothing worth wasting in anger! B. The author didn’t see the beautiful views on roads. C. Anything is acceptable if you see it differently. D. The author misread the odometer as 20 miles. 18. What is the message conveyed in the passage? A. Complains makes no difference. B. Life is short and time is swift. C. A merry heart makes a long life. D. Situations are affected by our attitude. 19. Which of the following would be, the best title for the passage? A. Last four miles of roads B. A stretch of hard road C. Personalities of roads D. Beauty along the way 【答案】16. C 17. C 18. D 19. 根据第一段中的“We have roads with views that will take your breath away, but few fast lanes. To go north to San Francisco, you take the Old Coast Highway, and then go ahead to 101, a multilane freeway, which, depending on weather and traffic, will finally get you where you’ re going or drive you crazy. But the part I feared most was a narrow two-lane stretch of a road that connected the two in the south, where I grew up, such roads are called cow trails. (我们有景色美得令人窒息的公路,但几乎没有快车道。要往北去旧金山,你得先走旧海岸公路,然后再上101号多车道高速公路,这条公路,视天气和交通状况而定,要么最终把你送到目的地,要么把你逼疯。但我最害怕的路段,是连接南部这两条公路的一段狭窄的双车道,在我长大的地方,这样的路被称为乡间小道。)”可知,原文“a narrow two-lane-stretch of a road that connected the two in the south (一条连接南部两地的狭窄双车道公路路段)”中的“the two”指代前文去旧金山路线中的“the Old Coast Highway”和“101”,这与C项(那条牛道与旧海岸公路和 101 号公路相连)相吻合。 根据倒数第二段中的“Four miles was nothing — certainly not a space or time worth wasting in anger when he had only months to live. So I stopped complaining. I started really looking. And there appeared green acres of fields that shined in the sun. Strawberries and roses stand at the roadside. And there was an old white horse watching cars running down the open road. 根据末段“Those things had always been there, but I had never noticed. Randy taught me how to see them. Now when the road is long and hard, I break it into pieces in my soul. I divide it into four-mile stretches. C Wildfires in Australia, heat waves across Europe, floods in South Asia... Ligia Noronha director of the economy division at UNEP, said that 2.6 billion people play games, which makes gaming one of the biggest communication media on the planet. C To create a new video game about many natural disasters. Value. B. Encourage. C. Understand. D. Evaluate. 11. E From where I live on the coast of California’s Monterey Peninsula, there is no easy way to go anywhere. A.
