In 2016, a guideline (指导方针) by the Ministry of Education and 10 other departments in China promoted study tours for primary, middle and high schools. Many schools have put this form of learning into practice. Primary school students from Anshun, Guizhou Province, toured Balinghe Bridge (坝陵河大桥) near the city. They saw different parts of this huge bridge. “I learned why physics, chemistry and geology (物理、化学和地质学) are important in building bridges in the mountains,” said Zhang Wanling, one of the students.
