Have you ever seen a windsock (风向袋) blowing in the wind? Well you can make one of your own! This is a fun game that you can do with things you may have at home. You just need to follow a few easy steps.
You will need:
·one piece of colored paper ·five ribbons (丝带)
·strong tape ·a string (绳) ·a pencil
What to do:
Step1: Decorate the paper. You can draw pictures on it. You can also write your name. Do anything that will make it special to you.
Step2: Make the paper into the shape of a tube (管子). Then stick the tube together at each end and in the middle with a strong tape.
Step3: Use a pencil to make a hole into both sides of the tube. The holes should be only on one end of the tube. Pull the sting through both holes. Then tie the ends of the string together.
Step4: Now make five holes around the top of the other end of the tube. Put a ribbon through each of the holes. Tie a knot (结) in the end. Make sure the knots are bigger than the holes.
Now your windsock is ready to use, but how does it work? The shape of the tube plays an important part. Wind flows through the tube and makes it fly and dance around. Hold the windsock up in the air by its string and run around. It will fly behind you. Now you can enjoy watching it dance around on its own!

What would you do if your best friend and you have different ideas? At first, I didn’t know what to do when I found that my best friend Karina disagreed with me on some things.
When we first met in a summer camp, we got along so well.
But then something happened at a picnic. “Did you hear about the shopping center news?” asked one of our friends Levar. “They want to cut down lots of trees to make room for a shopping center.”
“That’s terrible! We have to stop that,” I said.
“I disagree,” said Karina. “The shopping center would give new jobs to people in need.”
“But animals would lose their homes!” I said. “I want people to have jobs, but it doesn’t mean cutting down trees.”
I wished Karina could agree with me about saving the trees, but she had her reasons for believing what she did. I was so angry that I didn’t talk to her for days.
Later, my mother knew it and said to me, “No two people are the same. You should respect each other. And no matter what happens, the difference doesn’t mean losing a good friend.”
After listening to my mom’s words, I said sorry to Karina and we are still good friends now.

C. Friends should respect each other. D. Good friends tell each other everything.

Dear Adam,
I’m on vacation in Central America and having a great time. I’m in Guatemala. It’s a small country but there is so much to see and do! There are volcanoes (火山), mountains, rainforests , beaches and Mayan temples (玛雅寺庙) in the country.
The Mayan people have a long and interesting history. They built many temples. Last Friday I visited a Mayan temple at a place called Tikal. The temple has a history of about 1,300 years. It is a wonderful place to visit.
I am staying at Lake Atitlan now. Some people say it is the most beautiful lake in the world. It is a very big lake and there are mountains and volcanoes around it. You can walk around the lake and even climb to the top of a volcano.
The volcanoes at Lake Atitlan are not active volcanoes (活火山), but tomorrow I am going to see an active volcano called Pacaya. Active volcanoes can be dangerous because they still erupt (爆发) sometimes. I want to climb Pacaya. It erupted in 2010. I hope it won’t erupt when I’m there!
I’ll send (发送) you another e-mail soon.
All the best,
Kate

Friends are the ones who we walk through life together. If we share our ups and downs, and pains and joys with our friends, we will get more happiness and less sadness. 41
Be friendly to others. 42 You should try to make a stranger feel at home wherever he happens to be. That is exactly the first step of making friends.
Realize your fear. Some of us see meeting new people as a terrible event. We are worried about making a bad impression (印象), how to let the conversation go end and so on. Actually, all these fears are just in our head.
Be yourself. 43 Just be yourself. You can meet real friends when you are who you are. The truest friendship is built with both accepting each other for who they are.
44 This connection between you and the other one can only begin when your heart is open. You can’t form any new connection if you mistrust others. It’ll send the wrong information and cause them to close off their hearts to you, too.
Be there for them. A friendship is a union (联盟) that supports two people. 45 When you help your friends, you should help unconditionally (无条件地). The satisfaction you get from helping others is greater than anything you can get in return.

Some hotels also provide electric bikes that make it easier to go up hills and on longer trips. Some cities also have motorbikes, and you can pick up one easily. It’s not free but very cheap.
Way 3 If you have to take transportation in a city, try to take public transportation. Most cities now show lots of information and very clear maps about the public transport on the city’s website. So find them on the city’s website when you arrive in a city.
