Know about tie-dyeing
23021
Amy is learning about the craft of tie-dyeing and has found an article about it. Read the article and answer the questions below.
Do you have a tie-dyed T-shirt? Tie-dyeing is an old art with a history of over 1,500 years, and it became most popular in the Tang Dynasty.
Here are the steps for tie-dyeing. First twist a piece of cloth and tie it with thread. Then dye the material and when it is dry, untie it. The tied part stays the same colour as before, but the rest has a different colour.
Today, in some parts of Yunnan Province, for example, local people still use traditional tie-dyeing methods to make different products like scarves and bags. Tie-dyeing is not only a form of art but also a lifestyle.

a piece of cloth?

Last Saturday, I went to Millie’s home. We made a cute little doll from an old glove.
First, we chose a clean glove with bright colours and a fun pattern.
Next, we made the doll's legs from the two longest fingers of the glove and its arms from two of the other fingers.
Then, we used the main part of the glove as the head and the body. For the eyes, we glued two buttons.
Finally, we added some colourful thread onto the head— that was the doll’s hair.
After we finished, we gave the doll to Millie’s neighbour, a little girl. She loved it! We felt very proud and happy.

This afternoon, I made a beautiful bookmark using dried flowers and cardboard.
First, I collected some flat dried flowers and leaves that I had pressed in a book last month. Then, I cut a piece of white cardboard into a rectangle. Next, I arranged the flowers on the cardboard gently to create a pretty pattern. After that, I used clear glue to stick them carefully and covered the bookmark with a thin layer of transparent film to protect it. Finally, I punched a hole at the top and tied a blue ribbon through it.
I gave the bookmark to my younger sister. She smiled and said it was the best gift ever. I felt so happy and creative!
