Taking a village tour and trying windsurfing. D. Taking a boat tour exploring around the island. 2. How much should a couple with a 10-year-old child pay for the 3-day Inland Cabin? A. $1,200. B. $1,500. C. $1,800. D. $2,400. 3. Where is this text most likely from? A. A science report. B. A travel brochure. C. A tourism website. D. A fashion magazine. B As I wandered out of my New York apartment, behind me someone called out, “Where can I find peaches?” I turned around to see a woman standing outside the greengrocer’s. The absurdity of the moment struck me — why would someone want peaches in the middle of winter? It is just as absurd as sitting by the pool on a blistering summer day and reaching for a warm, woolly jumper. I was already aware of the issues facing the food system: industrial farming ruining soils, unclear supply chains leaving citizens powerless in making the right buying decisions, and the dominance of ultra-processed foods with zero nutritional value in supermarkets. But this encounter made me see how normalized it was to expect food out of season. After graduating, I worked at Wall Street in New York, managing portfolios (投资组合). Despite the breathtaking view and fast-paced stock market, I was troubled by the greed underlying my work. Cooking was my escape. It had always been a passion, whether in Buenos Aires, at university, or in New York. As I neared my 30s, I knew I needed a change and food became my north star. Through my work visiting markets and farmers around Europe, I saw first-hand why seasonality is critical in our ability to regain control of, and fix, our food system. All around me I could see how quickly flavour was disappearing from our plates. I wanted to reintroduce phenomenal flavour into people’s lives, and to re-educate and reconnect consumers with nature. In 2004, I took over Natoora, a French-founded company with a small base in London, determined to reintroduce great flavor to people’s lives and reconnect them with nature. My two-decade-long devotion to flavor, initially a pursuit of personal pleasure, has given my work a deep sense of purpose. Flavor can emotionally connect us to food and bring joy back into our relationship with it. Changing careers opened a new world for me, filled with purpose and love for my work, and I hope it inspires others to fight for a better food-centric world. 4. Why does the author mention the encounter with a woman? A. To illustrate an absurd shopping choice. B. To highlight a problem in the food system. C. To compare between peaches and jumpers. D. To show people’s separation from farming. 5. What does the author think of cooking? A. Healing. B. Troublesome. C. Demanding. D. Instructive. 6. What can we infer from paragraph 4? A. People will improve flavors on their tables soon. B. Consumers are not willing to get close to nature. C Our food system is in need of our great attention. D. All the markets in Europe sell food out of season. 7 Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text? A. Add a Unique flavor to Your career B. The Great Power of Seasonal Eating C. Approaches to Fixing the Food System D. From Wall Street to the World of Flavor C Spending time in space might sound thrilling, but it takes a serious impact on the human body. Weightlessness affects everything from muscles to blood flow. Hence, before astronauts head to the Moon or Mars, scientists must find ways to reduce the physical effects of long-term space travel. To help, ten healthy male volunteers aged from 20 to 40 with no allergies or dietary restrictions signed up for an unusual challenge, agreeing to spend ten days lying flat in a lab in France. Run by the European Space Agency (ESA), the experiment began on March 13, 2025, where the volunteers stayed in bathtub-like containers covered with waterproof fabric, floating chest-deep in water (arms and heads above surface). These temporary waterbeds were designed to make like the weightlessness experienced in space. Meals were eaten flat on their backs, with pillows folded behind for support. Even bathroom trips were an adventure. The volunteers had to stay stretched out while being rolled away on a handcart! This method, called dry immersion, offers a cheaper and simpler way to study how the body reacts to the absence of gravity. It produces many of the same effects, including blood rushing to the head and bone and muscle loss. After the ten-day immersion, the volunteers stayed at the lab for another five days for medical tests and recovery routines, which allowed the researchers to monitor how their bodies adjusted to normal conditions. Ten days after leaving the facility, the men returned for a final checkup to ensure there were no persistent effects from the experiment. ESA scientists believe that data from this study—and others like it—will be key to preparing astronauts for deep-space missions. However, the benefits of this research could also be of use to help people on Earth. Studying how the body responds to long periods of inactivity might lead to better treatments for laid-up patients, the elderly, and those with mobility issues. “Bridging the gap between spaceflight and ground-based research is essential for human space exploration,” said Marc-Antoine Custaud, who led the study. “Our findings have significant implications for Earth-based medicine, particularly in age-related conditions.” 8. What did volunteers have to do during the experiment? A. They needed to taste a variety of food. B. They had to stay in a space-like environment. C. They were kept dry during the whole process. D. They were involved in the research for ten days in total. 9. Who might benefit from the research? A. Patients with blood disease. B. Astronauts with social issues. C. Seniors with limited health checkup. D. Youngsters with movement problems. 10. What did Custaud emphasize about the research? A. Its process. B. Its meaning. C. Its principle. D. Its application. 11. What can be the best title for the text? A. Space Travel: Its profound Benefits for Zero-Gravity Research. B. ESA’s Dry Immersion Experiment: A good way to Study Universe. C. Lying Flat for Science: Ten Volunteers Joined to Aid Space Travel. D. The Impact of Weightlessness: How Astronauts Cope with Space Travel. D Add a little-known species of insects to the list of animals that can make and handle tools. And true to their name, the insects use that tool to draw their prey (猎物) into a trap, researchers reported on May 12 in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Found in Thailand and China, Pababengkakia piliceps (毛角蝽) is a species of insects called assassin bugs that has a taste for the region’s stingless bees. Recordings of them in the wild reveal that the assassin bugs, when lying in wait at the entrance of a hive, use resin (树脂) against the bees, which is applied on their front legs to expertly catch bees that fly by. This is quite unlike worker bees, which leave the sticky stuff on the outside of a hive to trap and attack invaders like ants or spiders. Multiple species of assassin bug are well-known tool users. They use sticky plant material to trap their prey, but P. piliceps go a step further. Lab experiments reveal assassin bugs break up dried blocks of resin at the hive entrance, releasing a smell of chemicals into the air. Tricked by the smell, worker bees may mistake the waiting predator (捕食者) for a trapped invader and go straight toward its unfolded front legs, the researchers say. “They’re not using the resin as it is… They’re manipulating it,” says Fernando Soley, a behavioral ecologist who wasn’t part of the study. Compared with cognitively demanding forms of tool use like those found in humans and chimps, this tool is much simpler. “They have the desire to put resin on their front legs even when bees are not around,” says Li Tian, coauthor of the study and an entomologist at China Agricultural University in Beijing. This indicates that the behavior is an instinct, rather than an action performed with intention. “It’s like being born with a skill without knowing what it’s for,” says Soley. More complex ways of shaping and using tools likely evolved by polishing inborn tendencies. Studying elementary tool usage in insects could help us understand how refined tool usage evolved in animals like humans. 12. How do P. piliceps trap their prey? A. By tasting the broken resin. B. By releasing confusing smells. C. By using resin on their front legs. D. By lying and waiting outside the hive. 13. What does the underlined word “manipulating” mean in paragraph 3? A. Ignoring. B. Improving. C. Modifying. D. Consuming. 14. Why are humans and chimps mentioned in paragraph 4? A. To introduce different natural species. B. To highlight the intelligence of insects. C. To prove tool use is common in animals. D. To compare different tool-use complexities. 15. What contributes to P. piliceps’ behavior according to Li and Soley? A. Basic biological drive. B. Learned living experience. C. Intentional hunting strategy. D. Long-term environmental adaptation. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Globalization has led to a sort of “melting pot” phenomenon. People from different cultures are coming together like never before. Take food, for instance. You can find sushi in São Paulo, tacos in Tokyo, and pizza in Pakistan. It’s amazing, right? But there’s another side. ____16____ Their unique traditions might start to disappear. ____17____ TV shows, movies, and music are consumed worldwide. But is this leading to cultural homogenization (均匀化) ? Are we all starting to dress, talk, and act the same way? It’s a worrying thought. But on the other hand, media can also provide a platform for diverse voices. Language is another hot topic when it comes to globalization. English has become the lingua franca (通用语) of the world. ____18____ But what does this mean for other languages? Some linguists estimate that half of the world’s more than 6000 languages will have disappeared by the end of this century. That is what really needs our attention. Education is also hugely impacted by globalization. Students are no longer limited to their local schools or universities. ____19____ This leads to a more global perspective, but it also means that educational standards are becoming more uniform. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? So, what’s the conclusion on globalization and its impact on culture? Well, it’s complicated. There are definitely benefits—increased diversity, greater understanding, and more opportunities for cultural exchange. But there are also disadvantages—cultural homogenization, loss of traditional practices, and the threat of a global monoculture. ____20____ Globalization isn’t a one-way street. It’s a process of giving and taking, of integrating and borrowing. And it’s up to us to shape it in a way that preserves the best of our cultures and also accepts the new. A. The key is to accept the complexity. B. They are influenced by globalization. C. They can study anywhere in the world. D. Small, local cultures might feel threatened. E. Media plays a huge role in cultural globalization. F. It’s the language of business, science, and the internet. G. However, the spread of English can also contribute to global issues. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 One chilly Christmas Eve, Jordan Huffman, a highway maintenance worker, spotted a trash bag on the U. One autumn afternoon, the basketball team was preparing for the big championship in the gym. “Hey, Thomas! Why don’t you join the team? we could use someone smart like you to help with strategy,” Jake called out to Thomas. Thomas, absorbed in textbooks at a nearby table, looked up, clearly annoyed. “Very funny, Jake, I’m focused on my studies, not your games,” he answered sharply, “Besides, who needs strategy when you’ve got talent?” Jake laughed, not bothered by his response. “Talent only gets you so far, you know. You should try pushing your limits instead of hiding behind those books.” As time went by, Thomas’s goal to keep his top grades began to weigh heavily on him. One night, he stayed up late studying, but soon felt too tired to continue. He suddenly found himself questioning if he was giving up too much just for good grades. Meanwhile, Jake had his own stress. His team relied on him, but he felt the burden of expectations. Lying in bed, he thought about the championship game and his fear of letting everyone down. “What if I mess up?” His stomach tightened with worry. Finally, the big day came. The gym was packed with students, all excited for the game. Thomas sat in the stand, his heart racing — not just from the game, but from his inner struggle. He had promised himself he wouldn’t let his grades slip, yet part of him longed to experience the excitement of supporting the team. At first, Jake played well, but in the fourth quarter, his team was behind by ten points. He took a three-point shot that missed. In that moment, he felt the weight of the world on his shoulders. “What’s wrong with me?” he whispered to himself. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Thomas noticed Jake’s struggle and felt an urge to help. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In the final seconds, Jake had the ball, and the two teams had the same score. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2025年普通高中毕业班仿真模拟测试(一) 英 语 本试卷共8页,47题。 1. I’m thrilled to share with you an enlightening experience from our Chinese literature appreciation class last Friday. We delved into the profound work of Journey to the West, a classical novel that has captivated readers for centuries. My focus was on the Character of the Monkey King, who symbolizes freedom and resilience. His journey is a metaphor for the human quest for knowledge and self-discovery. I was particularly stuck by the timeless wisdom and the vivid storytelling that made the characters and their struggles feel so real. It inspired me to explore more of our cultural heritage and to appreciate the universal themes that connects us all. Best regards, Li Hua 第二节(满分25分) 【47题答案】 【答案】 Thomas noticed Jake’s struggle and felt an urge to help. Standing up, he shouted a strategy he had just thought of, one that took advantage of the opponent’s weakness which he had noticed while watching the game. Jake, hearing Thomas’s voice, turned and saw the determination in his eyes. Trusting his friend, Jake adjusted his play, and soon, the team began to catch up. Thomas felt a thrill he had never experienced in books, a mix of excitement and pride. In the final seconds, Jake had the ball, and the two teams had the same score. The gym was silent, everyone holding their breath. Jake thought of what Thomas had taught him: that talent needed strategy to truly shine. With a deep breath, he dribbled past the defender, who was someone he had studied carefully before the game, and launched a jump shot. When it swished through the net, the gym erupted in cheers. Jake and Thomas hugged, knowing that their friendship and the lessons they had learned from each other had turned this moment into something unforgettable. 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
