Ⅰ.阅读理解 [话题 建立迪斯尼乐园] There is a famous story about how Walt Disney was inspired to build Disneyland. The story goes that during an afternoon visit to Griffith Park located near the Burbank Studios, Walt took a seat while his two young daughters rode the merrygoround.Walt thought there should be a place where both children and their parents could enjoy spending some time together in an environment that would be both entertaining and pleasing to the eye, so with this thought came the idea for Disneyland. Walt's original plan was to build an eightacre park located near the Burbank Studios that would be a place for his employees and their families. Those plans were put on hold because of the start of World War Ⅱ.By 1952, Walt had created a special department to build the park. Finally in 1953, the first steps in building the park happened when Walt hired the Stanford Research Institute to make a survey to determine the best possible location for the future park.Considering population growth and the future freeway construction, they finally found a location in Anaheim and 160 acres of land were bought for the site of the new park. The building of the park was very expensive and to create funding for the project Walt developed the idea of the “Walt Disney's Disneyland” television show.It turned out to be a marvelous idea — not only gaining the money to build the park but also presenting the park to the American public. Construction officially began on July 21, 1954, and it was an ambitious(野心勃勃的) building schedule of less than one year to complete the new park for the projected opening day.Walt watched over the park's construction and progress continued with just a few minor holdups. Finally, the park was ready for the Opening Day on July 17, 1955. 1.What inspired Walt Disney to build Disneyland? A.The special design of Griffith Park. B.A trip to a park with his daughters. C.Requests from his family and employees. D.The idea to build a park for his daughters. 2.What is mainly considered in choosing the location of Disneyland? A.Walt Disney's personal preference. B.The natural environment. C.The advice of the public. D.Local traffic. 3.What does the underlined word “marvelous” in Paragraph 4 mean? A.Funny. B.Wild. C.Wonderful. D.Imaginative. 4.What can we learn about the construction process? A.It was smooth generally. B.It was affected by World War Ⅱ. C.It was completed later than expected. D.It was influenced by a shortage of money. 根据第一段的“The story goes that during an afternoon visit to Griffith Park located near...thought came the idea for Disneyland.(故事是这样的:有一天下午,Walt去了Burbank Studios附近的Griffith Park,他的两个小女儿在坐旋转木马。Walt认为应该有一个地方,让孩子和他们的父母都能在一个既有趣又赏心悦目的环境中享受共度时光,所以就有了迪士尼乐园的想法。)”可知,和女儿的公园之行启发了Walt Disney建立迪士尼乐园的想法。] 2.D [细节理解题。根据第三段的“Considering population growth and the future freeway construction, they finally found a location in Anaheim and 160 acres of land were bought for the site of the new park.(考虑到人口增长和未来的高速公路建设,他们最终在Anaheim找到了一个地点,并购买了160英亩的土地作为新公园的所在地。)” 根据倒数第二段的“not only gaining the money to build the park but also presenting the park to the American public(不仅获得了建造公园的资金,而且还向美国公众展示了公园)”可知,这是一个很好的主意,划线词marvelous的意思是“极好的”,和C选项wonderful意思相近。] 根据最后一段的“Walt watched over the park's construction and progress continued with just a few minor holdups.(Walt监督着公园的建设,除了几次小停顿外,工程仍在继续。)” Purchasing a large area of forest far from downtown for a giant nature preserve, or buying a network of smaller patches of forest throughout town that add up to the same size, which is better for protecting species in and around town when you only have limited resources? __1__ The disagreement — single large or several small — has been confusing conservation biologists and land managers for long. Throughout the debate, both sides have exchanged strong and convincing points. Some believe that a single large nature preserve is better. __2__ A single large circle has less edge than multiple small ones. And many species don't like edges. For example, some species such as mountain lions require a lot of space to reside, while others prefer central forested areas far from edges. If a nature preserve was split into many small sections, they would hardly attract these species to settle down. Therefore, it is necessary to have a larger preserve. 3__ Imagine trying to find huge wild spaces in urban areas.Despite the incredible cost, it might even be impossible to find a huge amount of land there. In that case, it is wise to have a network of several small nature preserves. This setup may make the preserves easier to manage. __4__ Small preserves also boost biodiversity by covering varied habitats.Isolated sections may even survive disasters like wildfires. The SLOSS debate may not simply end with an absolute answer. __5__ However, it is very meaningful to have debates like SLOSS as it gives both scientists and land managers the opportunity to discuss the best solution for protecting local wildlife, depending on the situation at hand. A.But the reality challenges this. B.Mathematically, this can be proven. C.There's no onesizefitsall approach in conservation. D.Managing separated preserves often increases touristrelated income. E.Some sections can be strictly protected, while others allow public access. F.This question has sparked intense discussions known as the SLOSS debate. G.For instance, tropical rainforests show higher survival rates in continuous reserves. 根据上文“Purchasing a large area of forest far from downtown for a giant nature preserve, or buying a network of smaller patches of forest throughout town that add up to the same size, which is better for protecting species in and around town when you only have limited resources?(在资源有限的情况下,是购买远离市区的大片森林作为大型自然保护区,还是在城镇各处购买多个面积总和相同的小片森林来保护城镇内及周边的物种,哪种方式更好呢?)” 根据上文“Some believe that a single large nature preserve is better.(一些人认为单一的大型自然保护区更好。)” 3.A [根据下文“Imagine trying to find huge wild spaces in urban areas.Despite the incredible cost, it might even be impossible to find a huge amount of land there.(想象一下在城市地区寻找大片的荒野空间。尽管成本高得惊人,在那里甚至可能找不到大片土地。)” 可知,选项承接下文说明现实对单一大型保护区观点构成挑战。故A选项“但现实挑战了这一点。”符合语境。] 4.E [根据上文 “This setup may make the preserves easier to manage.(这种设置可能使保护区更容易管理。)” 5.C [根据上文 “The SLOSS debate may not simply end with an absolute answer.(SLOSS 争论可能不会简单地以一个绝对答案结束。)” Ⅲ.语法填空 [话题 打铁花] Iron Fireworks, also known as Datiehua, is 1. ________ unique form of fireworks in the folk traditions of Henan and Shanxi Provinces.According to historical 2. ____________ (record), it can be traced back to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period.
