Chinese Names vs. Foreign Names
In different countries, people have different ways to name themselves. Let’s look at Chinese names and foreign names (like English names).
First, Chinese names have a big difference in order. A Chinese name usually has two parts: the family name (surname) and the given name. For example, if a person’s name is Li Ming, “Li” is his family name, and “Ming” is his given name. The family name always comes first. This shows respect for the family.
But foreign names (such as English names) are the opposite. The given name comes first, and the family name comes later. Take Tom Smith as an example. “Tom” is his given name, and “Smith” is his family name. People often call each other by their given names, like “Hi, Tom!” to be friendly.
Another difference is about the meaning. Many Chinese given names have good wishes. For instance, “Jian” means strong, and “Ya” means elegant. Foreign given names also have meanings, but they are not always as easy to tell as Chinese ones. “Emma” means “whole” or “universal”, but not everyone knows this.
Both Chinese names and foreign names are special. They carry family love and good hopes.

1. 答案:B
- 依据:文中第二段明确提到“A Chinese name usually has two parts: the family name (surname) and the given name... The family name always comes first.”(中文名字通常由两部分组成:姓和名……姓总是在前面)。
- 解析:题目问中文名字的第一部分是什么,根据原文信息,“姓(Family name)”排在前面,因此选B。
2. 答案:C
- 依据:文中第三段指出“foreign names (such as English names) are the opposite. The given name comes first, and the family name comes later. Take Tom Smith as an example.”(外国名字(如英文名字)则相反,名在前,姓在后,以Tom Smith为例)。
- 解析:英文名字的正确顺序是“名+姓”,选项中只有“Tom Smith”符合这一规则,因此选C。
3. 答案:B
- 依据:文中第二段结尾提到“The family name always comes first. This shows respect for the family.”(姓总是在前面,这是为了表示对家庭的尊重)。
- 解析:题目问中文姓在前的原因,原文直接说明是“表示对家庭的尊重”,对应选项B。
4. 答案:C
- 依据:文中第四段提到“For instance, ‘Jian’ means strong, and ‘Ya’ means elegant.”(例如,“健”意思是强壮,“雅”意思是优雅)。
- 解析:原文明确“Jian(健)”的含义是“strong(强壮)”,因此选C。
5. 答案:B
- 依据:文中最后一段提到“Both Chinese names and foreign names are special. They carry family love and good hopes.”(中文名字和外国名字都很特别,它们承载着家庭的爱和美好的希望)。
- 解析:题目问两种名字都承载什么,原文直接给出“家庭的爱和美好的希望”,对应选项B。
