Teaching Aids 【教学工具】 an English book,a tape recorder and CAI Teaching Steps 【教学步骤】 ★Step 1 Lead in【情景导入】 Ask the Ss to answer the following questions: ①What is your hobby? ②Can you tell a story about making friends through sharing a hobby? ★Step 2 Pre-task【准备任务】 Page 40,1 1.Show the pictures on page 40-41 to the Ss, and then ask them to answer the following questions. ①What hobby do the pictures show? ②What can you get from this hobby? 2.Give the Ss some prompts.For example, writing,share, joy, friend, idea and story. 3.Let the Ss see the title and the pictures and predict: ①What things did Emma do? ②Why was it an adventure? ★Step 3 While-task【过程任务】 Page 40,2 1.Ask the Ss to read the story and answer the question: What is Emma’s adventure? 2.Let some Ss say their answers. 3.Check the answers with the class. Page 42,3 1.Ask the Ss to read again and complete the notes with the words and expressions from the story. 2.Let some Ss say their answers. 3.Check the answers with the class. Page 42,4 1.Ask the Ss to answer the following questions. ①“Emma shook her head and stopped writing.” How did Emma feel? ②“Her eyes opened wide.” How did Emma feel? ③What other action words can you find in the reading passage? What feelings do they show? 2.Let some Ss say their answers. 3.Check the answers with the class. ★Step 4 Post-task【后续任务】 Page 42,Think and share 1.Ask the Ss to think and share: ①What was the best ending for Emma? ②Do you think hobbies can help you make more friends? Why or why not? 2.Give the Ss some prompts. 3.Let some Ss share their answers and check the answers with them. Page 43,5 1.Ask the Ss to write a short paragraph about making friends through sharing a hobby. 2.Give them some prompts.Ask them to do as follows. ①Write your answers to the following questions. What is your hobby? Who do you share it with? How did you become friends? What did you learn from the experience? ②Organise your answers above into a short paragraph. ③Check your paragraph as follows. Did you describe the experience clearly? Did you use the words from the reading passage? Did you give your opinions on hobbies and friendship? 3.Ask some Ss to share their paragraphs with the class. ★Step 5 Language points 【语言要点】 1.try 的用法 try 表示“尝试;试图;努力;设法”,常见用法:try to do sth.表示“尽力做某事”,强调付出努力,但不一定成功;try doing sth.表示“尝试做某事, 试着做某事”,含有“看结果如何”之意。如: Please try to move the stone.请尽力移开这块石头。 Why didn’t you try riding a bike to school?为什么不试着骑车去学校呢? 2.shake 的用法 (1)作动词,意为“摇动,(使)颤动;摇头;颤抖;握手”。例如: Jane shook her head at the idea.简对这个意见直摇头。 (2)作名词,意为“摇动;抖动;颤抖;奶昔”。例如: Give the bottle a good shake before opening.在打开瓶子之前,使劲摇一摇。 常见短语:shake one’s head摇头shake hand 握手milk shake 奶昔 3.leave 的用法 (1)leave sb. /sth. to do sth.“让某人/某物做某事”。例如: Leave the rice to cook for 20 minutes.把大米煮 20 分钟。 (2)leave sb./sth.+adj.“让某人/某物处于某种状态”。例如: Leave the door open,please.请把门开着吧。 (3)leave sb. /sth. doing sth.“让某人/某物一直做某事”。例如: Don’t leave her waiting outside in the rain.别让她一直在雨中等候。 (4)leave sth.+地点状语“把某物遗忘在某地”。例如: I left my bag on the bus.我把包忘在公共汽车上了。 ★Step 6 Summary 【课堂小结】 Ask the Ss to use the students' self-assessment form to check what they have learned in this lesson.
