Based on traveler votes and editor analyses of weather, crowds and events, among other factors, some places are listed here for you. Costa Rica March and April offer near-constant sunshine and daytime temperatures in the high 70s to low 90s. You can take advantage of heart-pumping activities like whitewater rafting tours or hike s through the rainforest. Because most of spring falls within Costa Rica’s peak tourist season, hotels often fill up months in advance. Yellowstone National Park As the snowfall starts to slow down, baby animals emerge in Yellowstone, making this national park an excellent place to spot wildlife. Hikers can walk on the trails, keeping their eyes for bears coming out of winter sleep with their youngs. Puebla This city in central Mexico attracts visitors with its UNESCO-recognized historic structures, art museums and yummy food. Spring marks the final few months of Puebla’s dry season before a rainy summer, just right for wandering through the city’s main square, and admiring baroque (巴洛克式的) architecture at the Templo. Lake Tahoe This year-round destination on the California-Nevada border is at its most peaceful in spring. By mid-April, skiers have left Lake Tahoe’s mountains, and the summer boating crowd hasn’t arrived yet, making it the perfect place to find some peace and quiet as you hike along the Tahoe Rim Trail. But do remember that spring here is much cooler than other destinations. 21.Which season is suggested for a visit to the places? A.Spring. B.Summer. C.Autumn. D.Winter. 22.For an animal lover, which place is the best choice? A.Costa Rica. B.Yellowstone National Park. C.Puebla. D.Lake Tahoe. 23.What is the author’s advice especially for the visitors to Lake Tahoe? A.Carry food enough for several days. B.Get ready for cold weather. C.Keep their family informed of their position. D.Never make noises when hiking. B Maria Isabel Rodriguez, a trained chef and food writer, was born in Puerto Rico, moved to New York City as a baby, and grew up eating food from her homeland. She thought it would be easy to find recipes. “I went to the Internet, did some search but only found two books, which I thought immediately, ‘Wow, this is funny,’” Rodriguez said. It was at the moment that Rodriguez determined to do something to safeguard her culture. Her idea became BoriSoul, a platform (平台) launched in 2015 to preserve her traditional food culture through stories, cooking classes and recipes. And now, that mission has turned into The BoriSoul Cookbook: Puerto Rican Recipes. Rodriguez said that the book started coming together through her desire to interview the women in her family and learn their recipes. But when friends heard about her project, they were excited to share recipes and stories from their families. She started seeking stories and recipes from her community and got responses from around the world. The interviews she collected became The BoriSoul Cookbook, with 80 recipes from 25 women. “The way that I brought in the culture was through the women in my family and they fed me.” They also shared lessons on life and love. “So there was the food that built my physical form. And as I was at the table, these stories were feeding the part of my soul that longed to connect, that longed to belong.” She eventually secured a contract (合同)for The BoriSoul Cookbook from Harper Wave, an imprint of Harper Collins. About the publication, Rodriguez said. “It’s about making sure that what cost a lot to learn isn’t forgotten.” 24.What inspired Rodriguez’s idea of BoriSoul A.Wish to be a well-known chef and writer. B.Interest in traditional and modern cooking. C.Lack of Puerto Rican recipes. D.Desire for the Internet culture. 25.How did women in Rodriguez’s family help her? A.They gave her material and emotional supports. B.They fed her to grow up with nutritious food. C.They funded her cookbook to be published. D.They taught her traditional cooking skills. 26.Which of the following can best describe Rodriguez? A.Positive and generous. B.Friendly and adventurous. C.Creative and determined. D.Outgoing and confident. 27.Who may be the readers of The BoriSoul Cookbook? A.Puerto Rican food lovers. B.Female publishers. C.Experienced housewives. D.Women neighbors. C This year, the Chinese animated film Nezha2 has taken the global box office by storm, achieving widespread praise and leading to a travel boom across the country. The “China Movie Consumption Year” campaign started this April nationwide, inviting audiences not only into theaters but also onto movie-inspired journeys across the country. On April 19, a special train called “Yichun” set off from Harbin in China’s Heilongjiang Province, carrying more than 100 tourists from Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries on an immersive (身临其境的) tour that combined cinema and travel. Organized by the National Film Administration and the China State Railway Group, this “film + tourism” train project aims to create new travel experiences by combining film culture with rail tourism. With the convenience of China’s railway network, the program connects movie scenes with real-world destinations, offering travelers a unique cultural adventure. Once on board, travelers can enjoy screenings of classic historical and documentary films, music from popular movies, poster exhibitions, cultural souvenirs, and interactive film-themed activities — all while taking in scenic views and tasting local food. What sets this journey apart is its immersive experience: passengers can visit actual filming locations along the route and engage in discussions on movies, bringing cinema to life in an engaging way. This approach has proven to be particularly appealing to younger audiences and international visitors. “This journey was truly unforgettable and absolutely fantastic. It showcased the global appeal of Chinese cinema and culture,” Prayut, one of the passengers on this trip, said. “Traveling China through film” is more than just a journey — it’s a deep cultural encounter. When movies guide the route and the journey brings the movies to life, the combination of film and tourism opens new chapters in cultural exploration. 28.What do we know about the train “Yichun”? A.It runs across many countries. B.It offers tourists film-themed experiences. C.It shows Chinese railway achievements. D.It is the most comfortable train in China. 29.What makes this train journey special? A.It has the most advanced railway technology. B.It offers free cultural souvenirs to passengers. C.It creates an immersive film-travel experience. D.It provides shooting training at filming locations. 30.What is the core value of “Traveling China through film”? A.Bringing movies to life. B.Bridging film and tourism. C.Improving film technology. D.Promoting cross-cultural exploration. 31.What is the author’s purpose in writing this passage? A.To recommend a popular Chinese film. B.To demonstrate the richness of Chinese culture. C.To introduce a new cultural-tourism form in China. D.To praise the convenience of Chinese transportation. D Gifts shaping children’s skills carry societal weight. New research led by Mathilde Meyer and Felix Riede suggests that inadequate or outdated toys contributed to the collapse of Norse settlements in Greenland. In 985, Norse settlers from Iceland established communities on Greenland’s fertile coastline, thriving for centuries until the world entered a cold period called the Little Ice Age (1300 — 1400). While the Inuit people who arrived later survived, the Norse had to leave their settlements by 1400. Archaeologists long puzzled over why, as Norse diets increasingly included seafood — contradicting earlier theories about their refusal to adapt. To find an answer, Meyer and Riede conducted a comparative analysis of the toys from both cultures. They examined 72 toys from Norse settlements and a remarkable 2,397 toys from Inuit settlements in similar environmental conditions. The toys were divided into five categories: weapons (such as harpoons and swords), tools (like cooking pots and lamps), transport (boats and sledges), social play (dolls and figurines), and skill play (tops and balls). The results were striking: not only did Inuit children have far more toys, but the variety of their toys was also much greater. For example, while Norse children had only toy arrows, axes, and swords, Inuit children had a wide range of hunting-related toys, including bows, crossbows, and harpoons. As time went on, the gap between the two cultures in terms of toy diversity became even more obvious. From 1000 to 1200, there were 8 social-play toys in Norse settlements compared to 23 in Inuit settlements. By 1200 — 1400, this gap expanded to 11 versus 158. The Inuit continuously increased the number of toys related to sea hunting, such as seal figurines, while the Norse still focused on land-based toys like horse figurines. The researchers argue that Norse reliance on traditional toys hindered children’s ability to innovate in a changing environment. In contrast, the Inuit’s focus on diverse, context-relevant toys equipped children with adaptive skills, ensuring long-term survival. This study serves as a warning: in the game of survival, the toys children play with may shape the fate of a society. 32.What is the central mystery addressed in the passage? A.Why the Norse residents preferred farming to fishing. B.How the Inuit people maintained toy diversity over time. C.Why the Norse settlements collapsed despite seafood diets. D.How climate change affected Greenland’s early inhabitants. 33.How did the researchers carry out their study? A.By defining a new concept. B.By examining previous essays. C.By comparing climate changes. D.By investigating ancient toys. 34.What does the underlined word “hinder” probably mean? A.Promote. B.Prevent. C.Ignore. D.Determine. 35.Which can be the best title of the passage? A.Besides Toys: Society’s Cultural Clues. B.Beyond Culture: the Settlement Factors. C.Rather than Climate: Toy Roles in Collapse. D.More than Play: the Skill-shaping Tools. Most of us enjoy travelling, whether we’re traveling abroad, or exploring where we live. When back home, keep in mind what we value in this trip. Sometimes, it’s the conversation we have with a local, or the experience of seeing the city from a new perspective that stays in our mind. A.The time we spend in nature brings us more friends. B.Understanding its purpose can help us plan the trip better. C.In other words, it allows us to grasp what kind of persons we are. The program was carried 56 at the Dadiwan Site, dating around 8,000 to 4,800 years ago, in Qin’an County, Gansu Province. The F901 site, having 57 history of over 5,000 years, stands as the most complicated housing structure from China’s prehistoric times. In early 2020, I planned a trip to the Black Hills in South Dakota and arrived there on June 23rd, not knowing I was about to have an adventure. The most exciting part of my adventure in South Dakota happened on July 5th in Custer. I woke up at 3:47 am, crawled out of my sleeping bag, and ate an energy bar. Then I walked to a hot air balloon company in downtown Custer for a 5 am meeting. There, I met other sleepy tourists who were there for the same reason as me. After filling out some paperwork and paying the fees, we got into a car and were taken to a field, followed by four trucks full of colorful materials. In the field, I got out of the car and watched as four colorful hot air balloons were fitted and inflated (充气). A few minutes later, I climbed into a basket along with other passengers. The basket was divided into four sections around the pilot in the center. Two couples and a family were in the other sections. However, all good things had to come to an end. From the pilot’s radio, I learned that due to a sudden change in the weather, the wind became unstable, and we needed to find a safe place to land quickly. We seemed to be descending (下降) very fast. I noticed the pilot struggling against the wind. He was constantly adjusting the burner and the parachute vent (伞阀) to control the balloon’s descent speed, but the strong wind made it difficult. As we continued to descend, he said, “Everyone, I need you to sit down, face backward, and cover your heads.” We followed his instructions. The basket shook violently back and forth. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The few seconds, during which the balloon was landing on the grass, was like hours. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司1 / 23 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Oh, man, I feel awful. You certainly have the clearest possible view of the world beneath the waves. Children love IT, and it's really amazing for adults too. When you get hungry, there is a relaxed family dining area serving snacks, cold drinks and ice creams. Near the main entrance, there is an excEllent bookshop, and there is also a souvenir shop selling all kinds of things connected with the sea, so I warmly recommend this visit. Well, the new sea life center at limit is an extremely exciting place. There are so many things to see, and everything is enjoyable as well as educational. Special attractions for children include a quiz and hourly feeding times for all the different animals and fish. Starting at nine thirty, you can see everything here from the most enormous sea creatures to the smallest. Every morning from ten o'clock, there are slide and video shows for children in the sea life theater, and someone is always there to answer questions about what you've seen. If you are in a group of six or more people, they can give you a special guided tour of the center, but you need to arrange this at the information desk when you arrive. For a completely different cultural experience, I highly recommend the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an. This UNESCO World Heritage site features thousands of life-sized clay soldiers guarding China’s first emperor since 210 BCE. Unlike the Forbidden City’s imperial architecture, these remarkable figures showcase ancient China’s military might and artistic sophistication. Each warrior’s unique facial expression reveals incredible craftsmanship. The site’s archaeological significance makes it one of China’s most valuable cultural treasures. I’m certain you’ll be amazed by this historical wonder. Wishing you another fascinating cultural discovery in China! Yours, Li Hua 第二节(满分25分) The basket shook violently back and forth. We were thrown from side to side as the balloon bounced across the uneven ground. I kept my head covered and held tightly to the edge, feeling the impact with every jolt. One couple cried out, but I focused on staying low and bracing myself. The pilot shouted calm instructions, reminding us not to stand until he gave the all-clear. Dust and grass flew into the air, making it hard to breathe. Finally, the movement slowed, and the balloon came to a stop, half-collapsed on its side. The few seconds, during which the balloon was landing on the grass, was like hours. When the pilot confirmed it was safe, we slowly stood up, shaken but unharmed. Despite the rough landing, everyone felt a sense of relief and even excitement. We had faced an unexpected challenge together. The ground crew arrived quickly, helping us out and beginning the process of packing the balloon. Looking back, though frightening, the experience deepened my appreciation for nature’s unpredictability and the skill of the pilot who kept us safe. ………………○……………… … 学校:______________姓名:_____________班级:_______________考号:______________________ Unit 4 History and Traditions(单元测试·提升卷) (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.Why does the man look terrible? Start by figuring out what we want to gain from the trip. 39 Additionally, consider what we’ve valued about the past trip, and whether this fits with what we want to do now. 40 That could be anything from visiting a new café and trying something on the menu, to challenging a new sport. D.The enjoyment of a day trip can last long after you are back home. E.One of the most important parts of travel is experiencing something new. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共8页) 试题 第4页(共8页) 试题 第1页(共8页) 试题 第2页(共8页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ Unit 4 History and Traditions(单元测试·提升卷) (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.Why does the man look terrible? I just checked my phone and it said that the storm everyone was talking about is going to pass by us. I heard the opposite on the radio earlier, but I think the report is more updated now. M: I agree that it looks like the weather will stay nice, but I feel like the air smells like rain and that happens right before the storm usually. W: I don’t care if we get wet. M: I don’t, either. M: And how often do you hear of a crash? Once or twice a year? W: But planes fly so high and fast that once is enough. M: There are more road accidents per day than air deaths per year. Air transport is really safe compared with road transport. W: I still prefer to go by sea. Ships may not travel fast but at least you can relax. M: It’s fine if you’re a good sailor, but have you ever traveled far in a rough sea? W: No. I’ve only been in a boat once. But if you pay to join the gym, you’ll be more likely to succeed.   W: You might have a point, but there must be something else I can do. M: I know! There are so many things to see and everything is enjoyable as well as educational. Special attractions for children include a quiz and hourly feeding times for all the different animals and fish, starting at 9:30. You can see everything here, from the most enormous sea creatures to the smallest. Every morning from ten o’clock there are slide and video shows for children in the sea life theatre, and someone is always there to answer questions about what you’ve seen. If you are in a group of six or more people, they can give you a special guided tour of the center. But you need to arrange this at the information desk when you arrive. The latest attraction at the center is a big glass tunnel you can walk through. All around you, you will see enormous fish swimming. Sometimes even over your head. You certainly have the clearest possible view of the world beneath the waves. Children love it and it’s really amazing for adults too. When you get hungry, there is a relaxed family dining area serving snacks, cold drinks and ice creams. Near the main entrance there is an excellent bookshop and there’s also a souvenir shop selling all kinds of things connected with the sea. So I warmly recommend this visit. A Best Places to Visit Now it is the ideal time to visit many of the world’s most popular vacation destinations. 根据第二段中“While the Inuit people who arrived later survived, the Norse had to leave their settlements by 1400. Besides relaxation of travel, it is also a wonderful way of learning more about ourselves and strengthening our social bonds. The well-being benefits of travel are what drive us to set off. Most of us follow a routine every day. 36 Travel, whether it is a few days off, or a longer journey, is a way to relax ourselves both emotionally and mentally. Travel is a good chance to better understand ourselves. It helps us develop awareness of not only our own existence, but also our thoughts and surroundings. 37 Moreover, it teaches us what is important and what happiness means to people. Travel also teaches us the significance of communicating with others. Going for a walk with friends in the local countryside helped us realize that time in nature with loved ones is something we’d like to do. 38 To enjoy our travel, several aspects should be taken into consideration. Start by figuring out what we want to gain from the trip. 39 Additionally, consider what we’ve valued about the past trip, and whether this fits with what we want to do now. 40 That could be anything from visiting a new café and trying something on the menu, to challenging a new sport. D.The enjoyment of a day trip can last long after you are back home. E.One of the most important parts of travel is experiencing something new. I’m certain you’ll be amazed by this historical wonder. Wishing you another fascinating cultural discovery in China! Yours, Li Hua Dear Chris, How wonderful that you appreciated the Forbidden City! For a contrasting cultural perspective, may I suggest the Classical Gardens of Suzhou? 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 The basket shook violently back and forth. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The few seconds, during which the balloon was landing on the grass, was like hours. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: The basket shook violently back and forth. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①抛:throw/toss ②专注:focus on/concentrate on ③回顾:look back/reflect on it now/think back 情绪类 ①惊吓:frightening/scary/alarming ②宽慰:relief/comfort 【点睛】【高分句型1】We were thrown from side to side as the balloon bounced across the uneven ground.
