We’re supposed to describe ourselves in a report. 我们需要在一份报告中描述自己。 (1) be supposed to 应该,表示按规定、习惯、安排等应该做某事,相当于should,后边需要加动词原形。 其否定形式为 be not supposed to do sth e.g. We’re supposed to keep our classroom clean and tidy. 我们应该保持教室干净整洁。 You’re not supposed to feed the animals. 你们不应该给动物喂食。 (2) describe 动词,意为:描述;形容 describe …to/for sb 向某人描述…… e.g. Now look at the picture carefully. Then describe what you saw to us. 现在请仔细观察这幅图。然后给我们描述你看到了什么。 Language point 3 3. I’m finding it a bit challenging. 我觉得这有点儿挑战性。 (1) a bit “有点儿;稍微”,表程度,可修饰动词、形容词等,相当于a little e.g. She is a bit afraid of the dogs. 她有点儿怕狗。 拓展: a bit of 一点儿,修饰不可数名词,相当于a little e.g. There is a bit of water on the ground. Please be careful. 地板上有点儿水。请小心一点儿。 Language point 3 辨析:a bit 与a little 相同点 二者都具有副词的性质,修饰动词,表示程度小,意为“有点”。 不同点 当修饰名词时,a little 可以在后面直接加不可数名词,而a bit 需要先接介词of,然后再加不可数名词。 一语辨异 I have only a little money, so I can buy a bit of bread for you. 我只有一点钱了,因此只能给你买少量面包。 Language point 4 4. You can write about your personal strengths and special talents. 你可以写写你的个人优势和特殊才能。 (1) personal 形容词,意为: 个人的;私人的 由名词person+al (形容词后缀) 构成,常用于名词前作定语。 personal information 个人信息 personal space 个人空间 e.g. Don’t tell strangers about your personal information. 不要告诉陌生人你的个人信息。 拓展:personally 副词,意为:就本人而言;亲自 personality 名词,意为:性格;个性;人格 Language point 5 (2) strength 名词,意为: 长处;力量;强度 e.g. Everyone has his own strengths and weaknesses. 每个人都有他的长处和短处。 Rock climbing needs strength, speed, courage and persistence. 攀岩需要力量、速度、勇气和毅力。 He checked the strength of the rope. 他检查了一下绳子的强度。 (3) talent 名词意为“才能;天资”,相当于gift have a talent for…=show a talent for… 在……方面有天赋 e.g. All the students are looking forward to the talent show on Friday. 所有的学生都期待着周五的才艺表演。 He was a talent ! 他是个天才! 相关词形:talented adj. 有才能的;天才的。常见搭配:be talented in 在某方面有天赋 e.g. Mozart was talented in music. 莫扎特在音乐方面有天赋。 Language point 6 6. What are you proud of about yourself? be proud of “为······感到骄傲、自豪”,of是介词,后边跟名词代词和动名词 e.g. —Dad, I won first place in the exam. ——爸爸,我考试考了第一名。 —Good job. I am proud of you, my son. ——干得不错。我为你感到骄傲,儿子。 be proud to do sth.(因)做某事很自豪/ 骄傲 e.g. They are proud to help others. 他们因帮助别人而感到自豪。 Language point 6 be proud + that 从句 自豪/ 骄傲…… e.g. They are proud that she is doing well at school. 他们为她在学校功课好而自豪。 pride n. 自豪;骄傲;值得自豪的人/ 物(单数用法)。 take pride in 以……而自豪/ 骄傲,可与be proud of 互换。 e.g. He is the pride of his parents. 他是父母的骄傲。 She takes pride in her work. = She is proud of her work. 她对自己的工作感到自豪。 Language point 7/8 7. I’m good at playing the erhu, a traditional Chinese musical instrument. “a traditional Chinese musical instrument”作同位语,对“the erhu ”进行解释说明。 8. Well done!
