Spring is coming, and it’s time to enjoy West Lake Longjing tea! Usually, we think workers will pick tea leaves by hand. But now, some Longjing tea is being picked by special workers — tea-picking robots!
In a tea garden in Hangzhou, a smart tea-picking robot invented by Zhejiang Sci-Tech University is working for the first time. “We take thousands of pictures of new tea buds (芽) and input them into the robot for it to learn. The robot uses an AI model to recognize (识别) the buds it should pick,” said Professor Chen Jianneng, member of the research team. This helps the robot find the right tea buds about 90 percent of the time.
The robot’s arm pulls and then sucks (吸) up the tea buds. These buds are quickly moved into a special box. Once the robot has collected all the buds from the area it’s working at, it moves the buds from the box to a main box that holds everything it collects.
The robot was made because there are not enough people to pick tea. In Zhejiang, about 400,000 pickers are needed now. “Picking is the greatest challenge for the development of the tea industry,” said Professor Wu Chuanyu, who leads the research team.
“About five years from now, the robots will do the job of picking West Lake Longjing tea instead of people,” Wu added.

七、阅读理解。
Think about this: you sit down and begin to eat a tomato. Suddenly, the tomato starts to shout! Don’t worry! This thing would never really happen. But a new study showed that plants make sounds when they are stressed (有压力的).
“Plants make sounds to communicate with insects and other animals all the time,”said Lilach Hadany, the researcher of the study,“but those sounds are undetectable to humans' ears.”With this in mind, the team started the research by recording the plants' sounds.
First, the team developed a smart machine that can record and translate the sounds of plants. Then they divided plants into three groups: one group wasn’t watered for five days, another group had the stems (茎) cut off and the last group was untouched.
The result showed that untouched plants stayed quiet, but in other two groups, these plants made sounds up to 40 clicks every hour. More interestingly, thirsty plants made louder and louder sounds at the beginning, with the loudest sounds when they were very thirsty, then lower as they died.
This result helps us better understand how plants manage stress and how they communicate with the world around them. It can also help farmers to tell which plant is thirsty, which one is hurt or which one is healthy, so that they can water them in time or protect them from disease.
Scientists are still working on inventing machines to help farmers to understand their plants better. They also wonder if the plants make sounds because of other reasons.
( ) 1. How does the writer start the passage?

A big team of very kind people work together to create me. They make me to help everyone, kids like you, grown-ups, teachers and even grandmas.
How did they do it? First, they teach me with so many stories and facts-like giving me a mountain of books, pictures and even jokes! Second, they help me learn how to talk and answer questions by using magic computer tools.
I love answering questions! If you ask me, “Why is the sky blue?” I’ll try to tell you the coolest answers. I can help you spell your name or count to 100—superfast! I can even practice English with you. If you like music, I can introduce you to different kinds of songs and musicians.
But theres one thing I cant do - I can’t hug you (I wish I could!). I’m just words on a screen, but I’ll always be your friend who listens and tries to make you smile.
In a word, people like me because they think I’m helpful and interesting. I can make their lives more colorful and easier.
