Scrooge was a businessman. One night, his dead business partner Jacob Marley walked through the wall. “Jacob!” cried Scrooge “Why are you here? ”“When I lived, I should have cared about people, ”said Marley. “But I did not, so I must do it now. Scrooge! You are far worse than I was! You too will become restless (不安), unless you change! Tonight, three spirits will visit you. Only (A) they can help you to change! ”cried Marley. “Learn from them! ” Then he stepped out of the window.
At one o’clock, Scrooge woke. Near his bed stood a strange figure (人影) as small as a child, but with long white hair and a wise old face. “I am the Spirit of Christmas Past, ”it said quietly. The Spirit led him to a school. The school boys laughed, and wished each other a merry Christmas, as they travelled to their homes for the Christmas holiday. Inside, in the long, cold, silent classroom, a lonely boy sat reading near a small fire. When he saw his poor forgotten past self, Scrooge sat down and cried. “Poor boy! I (B) wish —but it’s too late now. ” “What’s the matter? ”asked the Spirit. “There was a boy singing Christmas carols (颂歌) at my door yesterday. I’m sorry I didn’t give him anything. ”Hearing this, the spirit smiled, “Let’s see another past Christmas! ”
The schoolroom became darker and dirtier. There was the young Scrooge again, a little older and bigger than before. He was not reading this time, but was walking up and down, looking very unhappy. The door opened, and a little girl, much younger than him, came in. Putting her arms round his neck, she said lovingly to him, “I’ve come to bring you home, dear brother! Father is so much kinder than he used to be! I asked him if you could come home, and he said yes! And we’re going to spend Christmas together! ”

Passage 2
(23-24九年级上·山东聊城莘县·期中)
One of my favorite great books is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, by Mark Twain. The story is set in the town of St. Petersburg Missouri, in the US. It tells some exciting stories about a boy who has many adventures.
Tom, the hero of the book, lives with his aunt Polly. He is a lively and clever boy. He does not like people telling him what to do, so he always gets into trouble. He and his best friend, Huck Finn, run away to an island in the middle of the Mississippi River. Tom has more trouble because a bad man named Injun Joe is looking for him. Later, Tom escaped from a cave with another friend, Becky. He also finds Injun Joe’s treasure box and takes it away.
My favorite part of the book is when Tom and Huck start their adventure on the island in the Mississippi River. At first, they are happy. But when they hear that everyone thinks they are dead, they feel very sorry, so they come back home. They hide and watch for a time when they see their family and neighbors coming to their funeral in the church. Then, Tom and Huck suddenly appear. Everyone is surprised to see them at first, but very pleased to find that they are alive.
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a great book. It is more than an adventure story. Mark Twain wrote it in 1876. It describes people’s lives in the southern states of America at that time. It tells how young people grow, how people love each other and how bad people pay for their actions. It is written in everyday English, and the dialogues sound especially real. 现在它仍然被世界各地的人阅读和喜爱, and it is thought to be one of the greatest American stories.

阅读下面短文,完成1至5小题。
Throwing away unwanted food has become a big problem in the developed world, While some of us throw away unwanted food, people in other parts of world are short of food and are starving. It’s a shocking fact that a third of the world’s food is wasted each year. That is about 1.3 billion (十亿) tons of food. It is enough to feed a billion (A) hungry people.
You may think supermarkets are the main ones to waste food. After all, they do throw things that have past their sell-by-date. They also encourage people to buy more than they need through promotions (促销) such as (B) “buy one get one free”. But we are the biggest ones for creating food waste. In Europe, 53% of food waste comes from households, which results in 88 million tons of food waste a year. Unluckily this leads to global warming and climate (气候) change.
In Denmark, a woman called Selina Juul has been working hard to solve this problem. She encouraged people to buy only what they needed. She wrote a cookbook to teach people to cook the left food. And she’s now set up an education programme in schools. This has helped to make food waste less. It shows that something can be done. Clearly, we need to think twice when we put something in our shopping bag, and when we’re at home, we should make the most of the food we have-using cookbooks to use up our left food materials or even sharing our food with our friends and neighbors.
1.Which word has the similar meaning as (A) “hungry” in Paragraph 1?

There’s a question about oranges. Is the fruit named orange for its color, or is the color named for the fruit? The answer to this question is actually pretty simple: Orange the fruit was named before its corresponding (对应的) color was.
How Did the Orange Get Its Name?
Less simple is how the orange got named in the first place. The fruit is usually thought to come from the Malay Archipelago and other parts of tropical (热带的) Asia. It’s possible that the name for oranges also came from tropical Asia. As this sweet fruit went northwest, different versions (版本) of orange showed up in other languages.
When Did Orange Become a Color?
By the 1400s, the word orange—for the fruit—had finally become an English word. It took another century or so for English speakers to use it to describe the reddish-yellow (红调黄) color of the fruit and anything else that matched it.
The earliest example is from an account book (账本) in 1532. In the book, orange was used to describe a color. There used to be other spellings for “orange” such as “Oringe” and “orenge” once appeared in some books, but “orange” finally became the standard (标准的) spelling.

Do you yawn (打哈欠)? There are about 20 reasons that scientists think are possible for yawning after research. They do not know exactly why yawning happens, but they do know many facts about yawning.
We know that everyone yawns in the same way. First you open your mouth slowly. Your mouth stays open for about five seconds. You take in a lot of air and then push it out. Then you quickly close your mouth. We also know that yawning is contagious, when you see someone yawn, you yawn, too.
Many people say they yawn because they are bored or tired. That might be true. People do often yawn before they sleep and after they wake up. However, we know that people also yawn when they are excited or nervous. Olympic runners, for example, often yawn before a race. Why is that? In 2007, scientists found that a yawn can help a warm brain cool down.
Some scientists believe that yawning makes you notice things more quickly. When you yawn, you breathe deeply. You also stretch (强化) the muscles (肌肉) in your face, mouth, and neck. Your eardrums stretch. too. Maybe this helps you to be quicker to notice things.
In some countries, people think yawning is not nice. People put their hands over their mouths to cover a yawn. In other countries, people think yawning is healthy. They think that opening the mouth very big can let good things in. When they breathe out, they think that bad things go out of the body with the air.
Scientists do not spend much time studying yawning. That is probably because yawning does not hurt. It is just something we do.

阅读短文,根据要求完成下面各小题。
The past few years have witnessed an increase in the number of families that keep a pet dog. One of the things dog owners need to do every day is to walk their animals. 3 However, some dog owners are not walking their dogs in a “civilized (文明的)” manner, leading to many problems. Here are some suggestions for them.
Firstly, when dog owners walk their animals, they should always keep them on a leash (牵狗用的皮带). The leash is an important piece of equipment. It can prevent tragedies (悲剧) such as dogs getting lost or fighting with other dogs. Besides, it can prevent dogs from running into road traffic and causing traffic accidents. Most importantly, with a leash, dogs won’t jump at passers-by. Dog owners must understand that not everybody likes dogs. Some people are very afraid of dogs.
Secondly, dog owners should avoid walking their animals in the rush hour. On early mornings or late evenings, there are few people walking hurriedly on the street. These are better times for dog owners to walk their dogs. People don’t have to clear of (绕开) dogs, and dogs can probably enjoy themselves more.
Also, dog owners must clean up their dogs’ mess (粪便) in time. They should always bring along with them some old newspapers or toilet paper. 4 It will be terrible if someone steps on the mess their dogs have left.
Last but not least, dog owners should train their digs to behave themselves when they’re in public.

(24-25九年级上·山东东营·期中)阅读短文,根据要求完成下面各小题。
The relationship between parents and children is one of the longest lasting connections in life. How can you show love to your parents? Here are some ways.
Spend time together. Doing activities that you all enjoy can help you understand your parents better. For example, if you like rock climbing, invite your parents to an easy climbing wall with you. This gives you the chance to teach them something, and they may support your hobby more if they’ve experienced it with you.
Remember that quarrelling (争吵,分歧) is normal. Say sorry if you’ve done or said something hurtful. Learn other ways to express your anger, such as writing to a friend for advice. If your parents are doing something that annoys (使生气,惹恼) you, try to deal with it calmly and suggest a good way.
Talk to your parents about the things they do that upset you. Your parents don’t know what’s bothering or annoying you. They won’t be able to try to change their behavior. Choose a quiet moment to have a talk with them. Plan what you want to say first in order not to have disagreements with your parents.
Talk to your parents about the challenges you’re facing. Ask questions about your parents’ experience of being a teenager, because they have useful experience about growing up. Use an example from a TV show or an article as a way to break the ice. Sometimes it’s easier to begin a difficult topic by expressing yourself in writing.

阅读下列文本,完成文后小题。
When things around the house stop working, what do you usually do with them? If you’re like a lot of people, you probably just throw them away.
In some areas, it’s difficult to find people who can make repairs, and fixing things can be quite expensive. Also, some small objects are so inexpensive that it’s often easier to just buy a new one.
In 2009, Martine Postma from the Netherlands decided there must be a better way. Her solution was Repair Cafes: places where people can take broken items. There they will find tools, resources(资源) and volunteer experts who are ready to help with repairs.
Postma’s first Repair Café opened on Oct. 18, 2009, in Amsterdam, and was a huge success. News of the café was known by more and more people, and they began asking how they could start their own. In 2011, Postma set up the Repair Café Foundation. This nonprofit organization provides guidance to those hoping to begin their own neighborhood repair group.
Today, there are about 2,000 Repair Cafés around the world with meetings usually taking place once a month. Around 25 objects are repaired during each meeting. Everything is free, but donations(捐赠物) are greatly welcome.
The cafés not only provide help with repairs, they also strengthen community ties. Neighbors get to know one another as they work together on projects. Moreover, valuable knowledge is passed along and preserved (保存). Items are kept instead of being thrown away, meeting less rubbish in landfills.

Passage 1
(23-24九年级上·山东青岛李沧区·期中)
If you have ever ordered a cup of hot coffee or tea to be delivered (递送) in the winter, it was probably cold when it arrived because of the freezing weather. Wouldn’t it be great if, instead of arriving from a delivery person, you received it in half the time from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)—commonly known as a drone (无人机) right outside your window and was still hot? It’s all happening now, as several Chinese cities, including Shenzhen in Guangdong province, Shanghai and Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, began using UAVs for deliveries. Technology is serving people faster than expected.
Meituan was among the first group to start UAV trials (测验) in the city. “Technologies like UAVs are expected to play a greater role within a three-kilometer serving area,” said Mao Yinian, head of Meituan’s UAV business. According to Mao, the drone can fly at a height of less than 120 meters at a flight speed of 10 meters per second (每秒). It can carry a box of 3 kg and stay in air for up to 20 minutes. “In the next five to 10 years, the cost of unmanned deliveries will be the same to that of human deliveries, and the user experience brought by UAVs will be greatly improved,” he said.
In order to improve the experience of delivery, Meituan started the study of the UAV delivery service in 2017. In 2021, Meituan completed its first drone delivery in Shenzhen. As of December 2022, Meituan’s drone delivery service has landed in Shenzhen and Shanghai, covering 18 office buildings, serving about 20,000 homes, and completing more than 120,000 orders. The usual delivery time of Meituan's UAV in 2022 was about 12 minutes. It is nearly 150 percent faster than traditional delivery models, saving users more than 30,000 hours of waiting time.
1.从文中找出与 As it was really cold, when you received your coffee or tea, it may not be hot.意思相同或相近的句子。
2.Please list the cities using UAV for deliveries.
3.将文中划线句子the drone can fly at a height of less than 120 meters at a flight speed of 10 meters per second.译为汉语。
4.根据短文内容填空,每空一词。

If you’ve ever walked through fog (雾), you might have noticed that your skin and hair get wet. This is because fog is made of tiny water drops. Scientists are helping people collect these drops to make drinking water.
In some towns, there is no fresh water. People there have to use trucks to carry fresh water. It is expensive.
Since rain falls to the ground, it can easily be collected into tanks (水箱). But the water drops that make up fog don’t hit the ground. Instead, they float (漂浮) in the air. To turn fog into water, you have to catch the water drops.
A fog catcher is made of nets with two posts. The nets are usually set up on a hilltop. As fog passes by, the nets catch the water drops. The drops run down the nets and into channels (通道). The channels lead the water into large tanks where it can be stored. A fog catcher can collect 10,000 liters of water a day. Scientists have helped set up fog catchers for towns in Chile, Nepal and Mexico.
Fog catchers are a great way for people in small and lonely towns to have their own fresh water. Centuries before scientists created fog-catching nets, nature was making fog into water on its own. As fog passed through the mountains, large leaves got the drops just like the nets do. People learned to drink the water collected on the leaves. Thanks to modern fog catchers, enough water can be made for a whole town!
1.Why do our skin and hair get wet when we walk through fog? (No more than 8 words)
2.What is a fog catcher made of? (No more than 7 words)
3.What do you think of collecting water centuries ago? (No word limited)

1.将文中划线的英语句子翻译成汉语。
2.Why does Tom always get into trouble?

1.根据第一段“One of my favorite great books is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, by Mark Twain. The story is set in the town of St. Petersburg Missouri, in the US. 2.根据第二段“He is a lively and clever boy. He does not like people telling him what to do, so he always gets into trouble.”可知,之所以他总是有麻烦,是因为他是一个活泼聪明的孩子。他不喜欢别人告诉他怎样做事。故填Because he does not like people telling him what to do.
3.根据第二段“He also finds Injun Joe’s treasure box and takes it away.”(主动语态)和题干“A treasure box of Injun Joe is found and taken away by Tom as well.”(被动语态),两个句子相比较可知,它们是同义句 ,翻译为“他还找到了印第安人乔的宝箱,并把它拿走了。”。故填He also finds Injun Joe’s treasure box and takes it away.
4.根据汉语提示可知,此句应翻译为被动语态。现在today,句子开头首字母要大写为Today;它it,代词;仍然still,副词,位于主谓之间;被读和被喜爱be read and loved,介绍现在的情况用一般现在时的被动语态,be动词应用is,read 和love的过去分词为read和loved;人们people,被动语态句子中,强调动作的发出者可用by sb.表示,“被人们”翻译成by people。故填Today, it is still read and loved by people all over the world.

It tells some exciting stories about a boy who has many adventures. ”开篇讲述了我最喜欢的一本伟大的书是马克吐温写的《汤姆索亚历险记》,再到后边故事的内容,以及最后一段的写作背景和评价,都说明这篇文章是作者的书评。所以,“It’s about the plot of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and its review.”符合题意。故填It’s about the plot of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and its review.

(24-25九年级上·山东济宁曲阜市·期中)
阅读短文,根据要求完成下面小题。

Passage 2

Passage 3
(23-24九年级上·山东青岛第二十六中学·期中)

Neighbors get to know one another as they work together on projects.”可知这些咖啡馆不仅提供维修服务,还加强了社区联系。题目中使用同义句,即它们帮助提升了邻居们之间的关系,故第三个空填relationship;根据最后一段“Items are kept instead of being thrown away, meeting less rubbish in landfills.”
3.原句意思为“当小区的人们一起修理东西时,他们开始彼此认识了解”,与原文中“Neighbors get to know one another as they work together on projects.”表达意思一致。故填Neighbors get to know one another as they work together on projects.
4.根据第五段“Today, there are about 2,000 Repair Cafés around the world with meetings usually taking place once a month. Around 25 objects are repaired during each meeting.”可知,对2000或25进行提问即可,故填How many Repair Cafés are there around the world with meetings usually taking place once a month?/ How many objects are repaired during each meeting?

Passage 2
(23-24九年级上·山东济宁曲阜市·期中)
阅读短文,根据要求完成文后的题目。
4.请将文中画线的句子翻译成汉语。

【答案】1.Because fog is made of tiny water drops. 2.It’s made of nets with two posts. 3.People were very smart then. 4.收雾器是偏远小镇上人们拥有自己淡水的好方法。 5.Turn fog into water
【导语】本文主要介绍了科学家利用收雾器来帮助人们收集水滴制造饮用水。
1.根据第一段“If you’ve ever walked through fog (雾), you might have noticed that your skin and hair get wet. This is because fog is made of tiny water drops.”可知,我们在雾中行走时皮肤和头发会湿是因为雾是由微小的水滴组成的。故填Because fog is made of tiny water drops.
2.根据第四段“A fog catcher is made of nets with two posts.”可知,收雾器是由带两根柱子的网制成的。故填It’s made of nets with two posts.
3.根据最后一段“Centuries before scientists created fog-catching nets, nature was making fog into water on its own. As fog passed through the mountains, large leaves got the drops just like the nets do. People learned to drink the water collected on the leaves.”可知,从几个世纪前收集水看来,那时的人们非常聪明。故填People were very smart then.
4.Fog catchers收雾器;are a great way是一个好的方式;for people in small and lonely towns对那些住在偏僻小镇上的人来说;to have their own fresh water有自己的淡水。故填收雾器是偏远小镇上人们拥有自己淡水的好方法。
