Passage 1
The Magic of a Book
One day when I was 11, my mother gave me an order: I was to walk to the public library, and borrow at least one book for the summer. This was one more weapon for her to defeat (战胜) my strange problem—inability to 1 .
In the library, I found my way into the “Children’s Room”. I sat down on the floor and pulled a few books off the 2 at random (随机的). The cover of a book caught my eye. It presented a picture of a beagle. I had recently had a beagle, the first and only animal companion I ever had as a child. He was my secret sharer, but one morning, he was gone. I never forgot my beagle.
There on the book’s cover was a beagle which looked the same to my dog. I ran my fingers over the 3 of the dog on the cover. My eyes run across the title, Amos, the Beagle with a Plan. Unknowingly, I had read the title without 4 the book. I borrowed it from the library for the summer.
Under the shade of a bush, I started to read about Amos. I read it with difficulty. Though pages were turned 5 , I got the main idea of the story about a dog who, like mine, had been separated from his family and who finally found his way back home. That dog was my dog, and I was the little boy in the book. At the end of the story, my mind continued the final scene of reunion, on and on, until my own 6 dog and I were, in my mind, running together.
My mother’s call made me 7 to the real world. I suddenly realized something: I had read a book, and I had loved reading that book. Everyone knew I could not read. But I had read it. Books could be incredibly wonderful and I was going to read them.
I never told my mother about my “miraculous” (奇迹般的) experience that summer, but she saw a slow but noticeable 8 in my classroom performance during the next year.

Max’s Good Habit
Max reads more than anyone he knows. He loves to read during all of his free time. He always puts some books in his bag and reads them in his spare time. His friends laugh at him because he would rather read than play video games, but his parents and his teachers are proud of him. They say 1 is important, and it will help him learn about the world around him. They also tell him it is a good habit to read every day.
One day Max was reading a magazine article about volcanoes (火山). He told his friends all about volcanoes and what causes them to erupt (喷发). The very next week, his class was told to do a science 2 about volcanoes. Guess who everyone wanted in their project group? Max’s friends don’t 3 at him anymore.
Max ended up being in a group with Liz, Anna and Josh. The project was to create a poster board with information about volcanoes and to build a volcano model.
Max made copies of the magazine articles about volcanoes so his project 4 could read about them too. They also went to the library to look for more information about volcanoes. The group met at Anna’s house that night to organize the information and decide what they wanted to put on the poster board. They all asked Max what he thought was the most 5 . Then they decided what they should write on the poster together.
The next night they met at Josh’s house to 6 their volcano. They used cardboard (纸箱) and modeling clay (可塑形的土). First, they made a volcano shape with the cardboard, and then they covered the shape in brown and red clay. The red was lava (岩浆) flowing down the volcano. They also stuck the red clay to the top of the volcano to make it look like it was erupting.
The volcano looked great. Max, Liz, Anna and Josh were very proud of their hard work. When they turned in their project, their teacher was 7 with their wonderful work. Thanks to Max’s good 8 , they earned an A+ on both parts of the project.

Passage 3

When I was young, I read a lot, but I read only comic books. My mother was an avid(酷爱的)reader, and she tried to get me to read some novels, but they seemed 1 to me. Why would anyone want to read a book without pictures, I wondered. It would be like watching a movie with your eyes closed. And 2 seemed like they would be so long! In my mind, a comic book was a rollercoaster(过山车)ride while a novel was five hours in rush hour traffic.
Whenever she saw me with a comic book, my mother would 3 . It totally ruined my comic book reading experience. One summer, she even warned me. “If you don’t 4 at least one book this summer, we’re not going to go on our camping trip,” she said. What could I do? I was looking forward to that camping trip!
“Fine,” I agreed, “I’ll read one.” My mother took me down to the local library. The librarian recommended(推荐)the Witch and the Wardrobe, the first book of The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. I reluctantly(勉强地) 5 the book.
When we got home, I opened the book and started reading. I thought I would read the first few pages then skip(跳过)to the end because I knew my mother would 6 me about it. Imagine my 7 when my mother called me to dinner and I was half way through the book! If a comic book was a rollercoaster ride, this novel was all the rides at Disney World that were rolled into one!

Passage 1
The Civilian Mobile Library offers books for free. Readers are invited to take one book every 15 days. They are encouraged to pass it on to someone else once they’ve finished reading. And they are not expected to return the book.
The library is just seven square meters in size but houses thousands of books on different subjects. “It might be the smallest library in the world,” said Xu Dawei, the owner. “But in another sense, it’s also the biggest because the books keep moving. Once, a reader took a book on Chinese garden history. After finishing it, the reader passed it to a neighbour. The neighbour then took it to Germany!”
“I’ve read thousands of books,” Xu said. “Books have truly changed my life.” The idea of starting a library took shape in 2000, when Xu recommended (推荐) online a list of his favorite books to university students, but many of them said they couldn’t find those books in their school libraries or local bookstores. So he began sending his books to readers for free. “They all wrote me letters expressing their thanks. It inspired me to take it farther, turning my book-gifting into a physical space,” Xu said.
“All the readers have to do is to come. Even if they finish a book and decide not to pass it on, at least the book benefited (使受益) one person and perhaps their family, helping them fall in love with reading,” Xu said. “And this is my dream.”

Passage 2
Reading is not just about learning a certain skill. Nor is it just about learning how to create prettier combination (联合) of words. Reading is a form of communication which is in a higher rank than just conversation.
Many successful people have shared the same kind of wisdom that if you want to become a kind of person you should try your best to spend time with this kind of people. If you want to become someone with good manners, you should try to make friends with people who have good manners. If you want to become someone learned, you should try to stay in touch with learned people. If you want to become someone successful, you surely should communicate with those who are actually successful.
But unluckily, excellent people are usually far away from us. If you yourself are not excellent enough, it’s almost impossible for you to reach them. And this is what reading is for. A good book is the embodiment (化身) of a great mind. Through reading you can communicate with those great minds. And this kind of communication is beyond time and space.
Reading can bring you out of the cage of your daily life. It shows you new chances that you’ve never seen. For a lot of people, this may be the only way to change their lives. No matter how busy you are, don’t forget to spare some time to do it. If you don’t find time to read, you’ll finally find yourself without any time to live the life that you want to live.

Passage 3
Reading is more than just a fun activity—it can actually change the way you brain works. Studies show that reading can improve your brain’s health, make you feet better, and even help you focus. Let’s take a look at how reading can have a good influence on your brain.
Your brain works hard when you read. It has to understand the words, think about their meaning, and imagine the story. This helps your brain get stronger and improves skills like memory, problem-solving, and thinking. Scientists believe that reading regularly is helpful, because it can protect your brain from getting weaker as you grow older, keeping it sharp for a long time.
Reading can help you feel less stressed. In one study, it was found that reading can reduce (减轻) stress by up to 68%. When you read a book, you focus on the story, which helps take your mind off your worries. This is similar to how activities like listening to music or doing yoga can make you feel relaxed.
Reading stories can help you understand how other people feel. When you read about characters in different situations, your brain learns to feel what they are feeling. This makes you more understanding—able to understand other people’s feelings. Studies show that people who read stories are better at connecting with others and understanding their feelings.
When you read, your brain produces chemicals (化学物质) that make you feel good. For example, dopamine (多巴胺) is produced when something exciting happens in the story Serotonin and oxytocin helps improve your mood (情绪). These chemicals make you feel happy and relaxed.
Reading is not only enjoyable—it is also good for your brain and mood. It can make your brain stronger, reduce stress, and even help you understand others better. So next time you read, remember: you are changing your brain chemistry for the better!

Passage 4
Today, an increasing number of digital materials are available to students. They come at much lower prices than printed materials. However, when students are asked which materials they prefer, surprisingly, most of them like printed ones better.
A group of scientists did a study. They found that when students read a text longer than one page, their understanding of its main idea was equally (同样地) good whether it was from printed materials or digital materials. However, when they were tested on details (细节), they performed better when they learned from printed materials.
Scientists believe that understanding details in a long text requires more attention than simply understanding its main idea. Distractions (分心的事物) influence the understanding of details when students learn from digital materials. The act of moving texts up and down on a computer draws students’ attention. Lots of hyperlinks draw their attention, too. Reading the articles the hyperlinks offer makes it hard for students to remember what they have read.
So, which is better, digital materials or printed materials? Actually, they both have their own merits. Digital materials cost less, are easier to get, and allow students who need to read a lot to read faster. As for printed materials, it’s easier for students to mark important points and to find them again when they need to review them. Printed books can be kept for a long time. Many e-books are only available for one year or so.
We know that digital materials are here to stay and their use is growing. Over time, students’ preferences may change, especially if some of the things students dislike about digital materials are avoided.
1.What can we know from Paragraph 1?
A.Printed materials allow students to read faster.
B.Printed materials are more popular with students.
C.Printed materials are cheaper than digital materials.
D.Printed materials are easier to get than digital materials.
2.What is the result of the study?
A.Longer texts were difficult to understand.
B.Students found mastering main ideas more difficult than details.
C.Students understood details better from printed materials.
D.Printed materials and digital materials were equally educational.
3.What does the underlined word “merits” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.Standards. B.Difficulties. C.Advantages. D.Achievements.
4.What’s the best title for this text?
A.Digital and Printed Materials: Students’ Preferences.
B.The Hyperlinks of Digital Learning.
C.Reading Choices: Digital Materials Win.
D.The Future of Printed Materials.
Passage 5
In many cities around the world, families are finding the joy of reading together. This trend has led to the creation of community reading groups where parents and children gather to enjoy books. The program is often called “Family Reading Hour”.
Two years ago, in a neighborhood in London, a small group of parents and their kids started meeting in the local library every Saturday. Firstly, there were just a few families, but soon the group expanded to over 100 participants (参与者).
The Family Reading Hour begins at 10:00 a. m. every Saturday. A list of books to be read is shared in advance, so everyone can prepare, Instead of reading quietly alone, families share stories, discuss roles and even act out the stories. With laughter and excitement, the reading hour feels like a fun adventure.
While many families used to read individually (各自地) at home, they found it much more enjoyable to read together in a group. Parents have noticed that reading together helps improve their children’s language skills and encourages a love of books. They also appreciate the chance to connect with other families in their community.
Recently, pictures and stories about Family Reading Hour have gained popularity on social media. Many people admire this simple yet effective idea, recognizing how easy it is to participate. As more families join in, the community becomes richer in sharing stories and experiences.

Passage 6
Imagine picking up a new book that you’re excited to read, sitting in your favorite corner, and turning to the last chapter (章节). While most readers open to page one, there are many people who jump right into the juiciest part of the book—the end, before going back to the beginning and starting from there. Because that changes the normal experience of reading the book, some people say readers should always begin with the first chapter. Others think starting at the end is perfectly acceptable and may even be the best way to read a book. What do you think? Is it OK to read the last chapter first?
There are many different ways to enjoy a book, and none of them are wrong. Starting with the last pages makes some readers even more curious about the story and helps them decide whether the book is worth reading. Other people don’t like to worry about what happens to the characters. Reading ahead helps them relax and appreciate the writing similar to when people reread a book and get more out of it the second time. Some people also enjoy the excitement of guessing exactly how the story will reach an ending they already know.
However, some people think books are meant to be read in the order in which they’re written. Part of the enjoyment of reading a good book is following the action from start to finish, discovering new information about the story and characters bit by bit, and being surprised by the story. Reading the last chapter first is disrespectful to the writer who put in a lot of effort. And if you know the ending, you have to avoid making other people who are reading it feel terrible. That means it’s safer not to discuss it with them, though talking about a book can be a big part of the fun of reading it.
1.How does the writer lead into the topic?
A.By comparing facts. B.By describing a scene.
C.By listing numbers. D.By giving an example.
2.What does the underlined word “appreciate” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Question. B.Collect. C.Admire. D.Translate.
3.Which is a reason for reading the last chapter first according to Paragraph 2?
A.To reread the book more easily.
B.To keep curious about the ending of the book.
C.To know which is the most interesting chapter.
D.To decide if it’s necessary to read the whole book.
4.What can we know from the last paragraph?
A.Reading is a process of discovering a book.
B.Reading from the end shows respect to the writer.
C.Talking about a book makes reading less interesting.
D.Discussing the ending while reading is always acceptable.
Passage 7
It’s a common habit around the world that just before going to bed, people would pick up a book by their favorite author. But even for book lovers, finding the opportunity to read can be a challenge. So it comes naturally that audiobooks (有声书) become a preferred choice. With the help of audiobooks, you can enjoy your favorite books while exercising, cleaning your bedroom or on the way to school.
Just as British publisher Drummond Moir told the Guardian: “We’re seeing audiobooks really attract people who may not have the time or wish to pick up a print book.” By winning the battle for people’s time and patience, the audiobook industry is growing, making almost $1 billion (7 billion yuan) last year in the United States.
In a blog post, Agnete Steine wrote, “audiobooks are able to provide the listener with a new dimension (维度) to their reading experience”. Indeed, audiobooks give the stories you read a voice, offering you a more intimate (亲密的) and emotional tie (情感纽带) to the story.
▲ . Listeners can create images through the story, and also from the voice they hear. With the help of the pictures and voices, we can remember people’s ideas and feelings much better. Then we can have a better understanding of the theme. Among the most listened audiobooks in the UK is the Harry Potter series which are read by famous English actor and presenter Stephen Fry, whose voice makes people crazy.
Although audiobooks have grown more and more popular, some people think that they sometimes are not good for readers to understand different scenes (场景). Writing for Time magazine, Steven Poole wrote “the actor in the studio has to choose just one delivery (演说方式)” when faced with a “line or poem balanced between two possible meanings”
While this may be true, audiobooks are undoubtedly a useful way to escape the stresses of modern life and a good way to keep busy. As GQ put it, “audiobooks are the new Netflix”.
1.Audiobooks are getting popular because ________.
a. the actor just uses one delivery.
b. it is easier for people to listen to a book than read a print book.
c. audiobooks are much cheaper.
d. reading out the story gives a better way to understand it.
e. people can find more to read in audiobooks than in print books.
A.ad B.bd C.cd D.be
2.What can we infer from the passage?
A.You can enjoy your favorite audiobook when walking to school.
B.Book lovers like print books more than audiobooks.
C.Audiobooks may encourage more people to join in reading.
D.Audiobooks may take the place of medicine to help people who are stressed out.
3.Which of the following sentences can be put in the ________?
A.Audiobooks read by famous actors and actresses are more popular.
B.Hearing words from a real person helps create a deeper understanding
C.Words in voice are full of imaginations and feelings.
D.People like to read such interesting audiobooks as Harry Potter series.
4.The writer talks about audiobooks with a ________ attitude (态度).

Passage 1
What does reading mean to you? For Xu Nuoxing and Cui Buyuan, both 16, from Jiangsu, reading is a kind of therapy that could help people build resilience (韧性).
To encourage teenagers to enjoy reading, two high school students created a project called Remor—Read more, emotion more. This project won the Best Team Award at the 2025 GenZEC.
Entrepreneurship Competition (Spring Round) National Venture Capital Summit in March. It also offers services like tailored (定制的) book lists, online reading clubs, and pop-up bookstore.
The two got the inspiration (灵感) from their personal experiences. “When I was in Grade 9, I felt extremely anxious because of the pressure at school and confusion about the future,” said Xu. “It was the stories in books that taught me that it was more important to enjoy the process rather than to be worried about the results.”
Between October 2024 and March this year, Xu and Cui did a lot of research. They sent out surveys to understand teenagers’ reading habits and analyzed (分析) papers on how reading improves mental health. They also spoke to professionals in business, software development, reading, and psychological counseling (心理咨询).
Among all their project’s services, the tailored book lists stand out because they include psychological counseling. Teenagers can buy this service through a WeChat Mini program, pick their preferred book genres types, and have AI recommend books to them.
What’s more, teenagers can communicate with online psychologists (心理学家) to share their problems. The psychologists offer online counseling and then recommend book lists with inspiring and interesting stories.
“It is important to take advantage of the chance to turn ideas into reality. I hope our project can help more teenagers and spread the charm of reading,” said Xu.
1.Why did the two students create the project Remor?
2.Compared with being worried about the results, what is more important in Xu’s opinion?
3.How do online psychologists help with the project?
4.From your perspective, what is the “charm of reading”? (至少2点)
Passage 2
Buddy Reading
Reading a good book is really a great journey. When a reader gets into a well-written book, it’s just like going into a new world and living someone else’s life for some time. This experience becomes even more wonderful when it’s done by buddy reading. That means two or more people read together.
During buddy reading, the buddies do lots of different reading activities. They may take turns to read out loud, share their favorite parts, or talk about the characters and the story. For example, they can stop at an exciting part of the story and argue about what will happen next. This not only makes reading more fun but also helps them understand the book better.
Although having students of the same age do buddy reading is a good choice, schools often like to match older students with younger ones. In 2021, Green School started such a program, and it has been very successful. In this two-year program, both the younger and older readers have got a lot of benefits. They have learned to be kind and patient when listening to each other. A younger student may be a little shy at first when reading out loud, and the older buddy has to wait patiently for him to finish. Also, this program gives chances to practice important life-long skills. Take leadership for example. Older students can lead the talk about the book, helping the younger ones to think carefully. Communication skills are also improved as they share their ideas about the story. Jason, a student from Green School, shared his experience. He said that reading to a younger buddy was really helpful. He became more confident in his reading and speaking after knowing that he was a role model.
What’s more, the school has become a more united (团结的) community because of buddy reading. The reading buddies are looking forward to their meetings and feel a strong connection. The students are really excited when they see their reading buddies in the school hallway.
Now that summer vacation is coming, it’s a perfect time to start reading. So, why not get together with a friend, choose a book you both like, and start this great reading journey together?
1.What does buddy reading mean?
2.How long did the reading program in Green School last?
3.Why did Jason think reading to a younger buddy was helpful?
4.Do you prefer buddy reading or reading by yourself? Why? (Please give two reasons.)
Passage 3
Technology is everywhere and it influences our daily lives including the kinds of books. There are two main kinds of books—paper books and e-books for kids to choose from. The question becomes, is one better than another?
The industry for selling e-books became a mainstream (主流) business in the late 1990s. E-books often have more colorful photos and sounds, and they may appear a lot more interesting than paper books. Research proves that e-books are good for kids. Kids learn more information when they are reading e-books because technology is fun and more enjoyable. Studies have shown that some kids may interact better when reading e-books. Some kids may have difficulties reading certain words. An e-book with lots of images and colors puts their imaginative spirit to the test. Good e-books help kids develop their reading skills faster. Highlighted text draws more attention, and the more time readers spend looking at words and hearing them out loud, the better chances (机会) they have to remember them. What’s more, e-books are lightweight and they can easily be read over and over again.
However, e-books come with several problems, too. Many parents and even experts believe that e-books are not good for the general health of kids. Kids need to read their e-books on devices (设备) such as their mobile phones, computers or e-readers. Since kids already spend too much time using their computers or mobile phones, parents worry that reading e-books makes their kids spend too much time in front of screens. Kids are more drawn by the technology and they care less about the stories. If kids are getting all their answers from e-books, their interaction with other people is greatly decreased (减少). Discussing word meanings and characters encourages interaction and learning with others.
1.What does technology influence?
2.When did the industry for selling e-books become a mainstream business?
3.What devices do kids need to read their e-books?
4.What do you think of e-books? Why? (Please give two reasons)
Passage 4
Did you know that some people don’t do their reading assignments (指定的作业)? It’s shocking, but it’s true. Some students don’t even read short texts that they are assigned in class. There are many reasons for this. They may be distracted or bored. They may be unwilling to focus. They may be unconfident readers. Whatever the reason, it has to stop today. Here’s why.
Reading stimulates (刺激) your mind. It is like a workout for your brain. When people get old, their muscles become worse. They get weaker and their strength leaves them. Exercise can prevent this loss. The same thing happens to people’s brains when they get older. Reading strengthens your brain and prevents declines (下降) in brain power and speed.
You can benefit from reading in the near-term too. Reading provides knowledge. Knowledge is power. Therefore, reading can make you a more powerful person. You can learn to do new things by reading. Do you want to make video games? Do you want to design clothing? Reading can teach you all this and more. But you have to get good at reading, and the only way to get good at something is to practice.
Read everything that you can at school, regardless of whether you find it interesting. Reading expands your vocabulary. Even a “boring” text can teach you new words. Having a larger vocabulary will help you better express yourself. You will be able to speak, write, and think more intelligently. What’s boring about that?
Do not just doubt a text because it is unfamiliar to you. Each time you read, you are exposed to new ideas and perspectives (看法). Reading can change the way that you understand the world. It can give you a broader perspective on things. It can make you worldlier. You can learn how people live in faraway places. You can learn about cultures different from your own.
Reading has a calming effect. It is good for your state of mind. It can lower your stress levels and help you relax. You can escape (摆脱) from your troubles for a moment when you read, and it’s a positive escape. The benefits of reading far outweigh those of acting like a fool. So do yourself a favor: the next time you get a reading assignment, take as much as you can from it. Squeeze it for every drop of knowledge that it contains. Then move on to the next one.
1.What are the benefits of reading for our brain?
2.How can we get good at reading?
3.How can reading improve our state of mind?
4.What do you think of reading? Why? (Please give two reasons.)
Passage 5
The Surprising Benefits of Reading Aloud
Did your parents use to read a story to you at bed time? Have you read anything aloud to your friends? When you recall those memories, do you feel a certain sense of closeness? For me, the answer is yes. After reading aloud, I also feel my reading is so attractive to audiences.
There are two common reading habits: reading silently and reading aloud. Personally, I prefer reading aloud. Last school year, I read aloud to some of my students. Soon I found they were fully involved in the story. When I read to them with vocal variety (声音变化) and emotion, students were able to understand the personality of characters.
Reading aloud allows others to hear the content (内容). It can improve our understanding of the text. This is why in ancient Iraq and Syria more than 4,000 years ago, reading means “to cry out” or “to listen”.
Reading aloud can bring other benefits to us. According to a research, reading aloud can help us to remember 10% more vocabulary than silent reading. If readers have speech difficulties and cannot fully remember the words they read aloud, reading aloud can help those readers to improve their memory. It was said that reading the words to another person resulted in the highest verbal (言语) memory recall. By contrast, reading silently produced the lowest verbal memory recall. Reading aloud can also help doctors to detect (测出) Alzheimer’s disease at an early stage if the reading includes specific mistakes.
Someone may ask: If there are so many benefits, why do we still read silently? According to a study on the effect of writing on the human brain and behaviours by Karenleigh Overmann, a professor at the University of Bergen, Norway, she discovered that silent reading keeps up with the speed of thought much better when people read while writing. Reading aloud will slow down the ability to read quickly because producing a sound needs more time.
Reading silently and reading aloud both have their own advantages and disadvantages. We can choose the suitable reading habit according to our different needs and situations.
1.What are the two common reading habits?
2.What can reading aloud help the readers do if they have speech difficulties?
3.Why will reading aloud slow down the ability to read quickly?
4.Would you like to try reading aloud? Why or why not? (Please give two reasons.)

题型2 阅读理解

C.Students understood details better from printed materials.
D.Printed materials and digital materials were equally educational.
3.What does the underlined word “merits” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.Standards. B.Difficulties. C.Advantages. D.Achievements.

【答案】1.B 2.C 3.D 4.A

3.细节理解题。根据“Starting with the last pages makes some readers even more curious about the story and helps them decide whether the book is worth reading. ”可知,先读结尾可帮助判断是否值得读全书。故选D。
4.细节理解题。根据“Part of the enjoyment of reading a good book is following the action from start to finish”可知,阅读是逐步发现故事的过程。故选A。

4.What do you think of e-books? Why? (Please give two reasons)

Because firstly reading too many e-books is bad for students’ eyesight. The second reason is that relying too much on e-books might reduce opportunities for discussing stories and ideas with others, which is important for learning and communication.

【答案】1.Reading stimulates our mind, strengthens our brain and prevents declines in brain power and speed. 2.By practicing. 3.It can lower our stress levels and help us relax. 4.I think reading is extremely beneficial. Because it broadens our knowledge and enhances our language skills.

【答案】1.Reading silently and reading aloud. 2.Reading aloud can help them to improve their memory. 3.Because producing a sound needs more time. 4.Yes. Because reading aloud can help me to improve my memory and improve my understanding of the text.
【导语】本文主要介绍大声朗读的好处。
1.根据第二段中的“There are two common reading habits: reading silently and reading aloud.”可知,有两种常见的阅读习惯:默读和大声朗读。故填Reading silently and reading aloud.
2.根据第四段中的“If readers have speech difficulties and cannot fully remember the words they read aloud, reading aloud can help those readers to improve their memory.”可知,如果读者有言语困难,大声朗读能帮助他们提高记忆力。故填Reading aloud can help them to improve their memory.
3.根据倒数第二段中的“Reading aloud will slow down the ability to read quickly because producing a sound needs more time.”可知,大声朗读会降低快速阅读的能力的原因是产生声音需要更多的时间。故填Because producing a sound needs more time.
4.开放性试题,言之有理即可,参考答案:Yes. Because reading aloud can help me to improve my memory and improve my understanding of the text.
