As I entered the school gate, I was greeted by a crowd of students. The hallways were filled with talking and laughter. It was a lot to handle, and I felt like a tiny fish in a vast ocean. I held my schedule tightly, trying to find the right classroom. My heart raced as I was scared of getting lost. My first class was English, and as I walked in, I spotted familiar faces from my previous school. I breathed a sigh of relief as I took my seat, surrounded by friendly smiles. My English teacher, Mrs Johnson, introduced herself and made everyone feel comfortable. She explained what we would be studying during the semester and encouraged us to share our thoughts and ideas. The next class was mathematics, which happened to be my weakest subject. I felt a tight feeling in my stomach as I entered the classroom, but my maths teacher, Mr Smith, turned out to be very patient. He promised us that we would learn and improve together. His words of support made me feel more relaxed, and I began to believe that I could overcome my maths struggles. During lunchtime, I sat with a group of students who quickly became my friends. We shared stories, and talked about our expectations for high school. It was during this time that I realised that high school wasn’t just about academic subjects; it was also about building friendships and making lasting memories. The rest of the day flew by with a variety of classes, faces, and experiences. My first day of high school was filled with moments of anxiety, joy, and the promise of new beginnings. 1.Why did the author feel like a tiny fish in a vast ocean at first? A.Because of excitement and curiosity. B.Because of the school’s welcoming atmosphere. C.Because of fear of the unfamiliar environment. D.Because of good preparations for the new school. 2.Which words can best describe the English teacher? A.Generous and powerful. B.Responsible and patient. C.Inspiring and friendly. D.Outgoing and warm-hearted. 3.How did the author feel when entering the maths class? A.Excited. B.Anxious. C.Relaxed. D.Confident. 4.What did the author realise during lunchtime? A.High school only focused on studying. B.High school was an extremely challenging place. C.High school was full of old friends and classmates. D.High school was also about wonderful social experiences. 根据第一段中的“As I entered the school gate, I was greeted by a crowd of students. The hallways were filled with talking and laughter. It was a lot to handle, and I felt like a tiny fish in a vast ocean. I held my schedule tightly, trying to find the right classroom. My heart raced as I was scared of getting lost.(当我走进学校大门时,一群学生迎接了我。走廊里充满了欢声笑语。这一切让人难以应对,我感觉自己就像茫茫大海中的一条小鱼。我紧紧拿着课程表,努力找到正确的教室。我害怕迷路,心跳加速。)”可知,作者一开始感觉像茫茫大海中的一条小鱼,是因为对陌生环境的恐惧。故选C项。 2.推理判断题。根据第二段中的“My English teacher, Mrs Johnson, introduced herself and made everyone feel comfortable. She explained what we would be studying during the semester and encouraged us to share our thoughts and ideas.(我的英语老师约翰逊夫人做了自我介绍,让每个人都感到很自在。她解释了这学期我们要学习的内容,并鼓励我们分享自己的想法和观点。)”可知,英语老师让人感觉自在,还鼓励学生分享想法,是鼓舞人心且友好的。故选C项。 3.细节理解题。根据第二段中的“The next class was mathematics, which happened to be my weakest subject. I felt a tight feeling in my stomach as I entered the classroom, but my maths teacher, Mr Smith, turned out to be very patient.(下一节课是数学,而数学恰巧是我最薄弱的科目。走进教室时,我感到肚子一阵发紧,但我的数学老师史密斯先生其实非常有耐心。)”可知,作者进入数学课时感到焦虑。故选B项。 4.细节理解题。根据第三段中的“It was during this time that I realised that high school wasn’t just about academic subjects; it was also about building friendships and making lasting memories.(就是在这段时间里,我意识到高中不仅仅是学习学科知识,还关乎建立友谊和创造持久的回忆。)” I knew my first day of high school would be challenging. There would be higher expectations and the teachers would be stricter. Would I fit in? Would I make friends? Would I have nice teachers? Would I look like an ugly duckling (丑小鸭) among my classmates? But my mum told me that I was great. Then I was hopeful about the new day. On Friday, one day before the first day of school at La Canada High School, the phone rang, sounding incredibly serious. The principal said that school would be delayed until Tuesday because of the fire in La Canada Flintridge. Disappointed as I was with the fire, strangely, I was also happy because I had several extra days of vacation. On Monday evening, I was preparing for my big day. My red backpack was filled with new notebooks. Then the phone rang. Again, the principal told me to stay at home. I could feel the anxiety growing inside of me. When was school going to start? I just wished that the first day of school would hurry up and come soon. Finally, it was Wednesday, the real first day of school. I walked past the school gate feeling nervous. Everything looked different. The middle school buildings looked so cute. I looked at my schedule. The first period was German. I took a deep breath as I opened the door to my first class. Class started and quickly I was fascinated by the teacher. He was a magician who had a superpower that kept me spellbound (着迷的). The other teachers were also so great. My first day slipped away quickly before could even realize it. In the evening, I recalled what had happened on my first day of high school. All in all, it was really amazing. I enjoyed all my teachers, classmates and classes. I was able to see my friends who I didn’t see all summer. But most importantly, I am now in high school. I am well on my way toward a successful high school career! 1.What removed the author’s anxiety according to paragraph 1? A.Making new friends soon. B.His/Her successful experience. C.His/Her mother’s encouragement. D.Greater expectation of the new life. 2.How did the author feel at the principal’s first announcement? A.Lonely but hopeful. B.Disappointed but happy. C.Depressed and worried. D.Angry and disappointed. 3.What can be inferred about the author’s first day at high school according to the text? A.It went by slowly and made him/her homesick. B.It began with an interesting physics lesson. C.It started as planned despite an unexpected fire. D.It made him/her hopeful about his/her high school life. 4.In what order is the text organized? A.Time. B.Place. C.Character. D.Importance. 根据第一段中“But my mum told me that I was great. Then I was hopeful about the new day. (但是我妈妈告诉我我很棒。然后我对新的一天充满了希望。)”可知,母亲的鼓励消除了作者的焦虑。故选C项。 2.细节理解题。根据第二段中“The principal said that school would be delayed until Tuesday because of the fire in La Canada Flintridge. Disappointed as I was with the fire, strangely, I was also happy because I had several extra days of vacation. (校长表示,由于La Canada Flintridge的火灾,学校将推迟到周二开学。虽然我对火灾感到失望,但奇怪的是,我也很高兴,因为我有了几天额外的假期。)”可知,对于校长的第一次通知,作者感到失望但又高兴。故选B项。 3.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“All in all, it was really amazing. I enjoyed all my teachers, classmates and classes. I was able to see my friends who I didn’t see all summer. But most importantly, I am now in high school. I am well on my way toward a successful high school career! (总而言之,真是太棒了。我喜欢我所有的老师、同学和课程。我可以见到我整个夏天都没见过的朋友。但最重要的是,我现在是在高中。我正在迈向成功的高中生涯。)”可知,作者觉得高中第一天的经历很棒,很高兴自己迈向高中生涯。由此可知,这让作者对自己的高中生活充满希望。故选D项。 4.推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是第二段中“On Friday, one day before the first day of school at La Canada High School (周五,也就是La Canada高中开学的前一天)”、第三段中“On Monday evening (星期一晚上)”、第四段中“Finally, it was Wednesday (终于到了星期三)”和最后一段中“In the evening (到了晚上)”可知,文章遵循时间顺序结构,从作者最初对开启高中生活的焦虑开始,然后详细说明由于火灾开学一再推迟,最后是作者开学第一天的经历。故选A项。 Do you remember the name of your kindergarten teacher? I do. Her name was Mrs. White. I don’t remember much about what we learned in her class, but my mother once told me that we used to write a lot. And I would bring back what I wrote and she would look at it and see there were so many mistakes but no red corrections. Instead, there would always be a star or even a “Good!” During a parent-teacher meeting, my mother asked Mrs. White why she never corrected my mistakes. Mrs. White explained that the children were just beginning to get excited about using words and forming sentences, and that she didn’t want to make them sad with red Ink(墨水). Spelling and grammar could wait, but the wonder of words wouldn’t. Looking back, I realize that if Mrs. White had been stricter with her red pen, I wouldn’t be telling you about this now. Her restraint with the red pen allows the joy, wonder, and excitement of expression to bloom (绽放), even if imperfectly. Because to bloom is better than not to bloom. I used to misspell “beautiful” often. I could never quite remember that the e went before the a. It drove my high school teacher crazy. She thought that if I was going to use the word so often, I should at least spell it correctly. Finally, the letters went into their right places without my conscious (有意识的) effort. And I’m glad that I didn’t wait for them to line up perfectly. “Pretty” is easier to spell, but it doesn’t always reach the depth of meaning. Thanks to Mrs. White, I had no worry about writing what I. meant even if I couldn’t spell every word correctly. Life isn’t pretty; it’s beautiful. 1.What did Mrs. White use to write on the author’s writing? A.Clear advice. B.Red corrections. C.Positive comments. D.Detailed explanations. 2.What does the underlined word “restraint” mean-In paragraph 3? A.Traditional views. B.Great love. C.Self-control. D.Requirement. 3.How did the high school teacher feel about the author’s misspelling of the word “beautiful”? A.Confused. B.Annoyed. C.Surprised. D.Patient. 4.What is the main idea of the text? A.The influence of Mrs. White’s teaching method. B.The importance of using red corrections in teaching. C.The challenges of spelling and grammar in early education. D.The difference between the meaning of “pretty” and “beautiful”. 根据文章第一段“And I would bring back what I wrote and she would look at it and see there were so many mistakes but no red corrections. Instead, there would always be a star or even a “Good!”(我会把我写的东西带回来,她会看,虽然里面有很多错误,但她从不用红笔改正。相反,她总是会在上面画一个星星,甚至写上“好!”)”可知,White老师总是在作者的作品上画一个星星或写上“好!”,这是一种积极的评价。故选C。 2.词句猜测题。根据划线单词上文“Looking back, I realize that if Mrs. White had been stricter with her red pen, I wouldn’t be telling you about this now.(回想起来,我意识到如果White老师用红笔对我更严格一些,我现在就不会告诉你这些了)”以及下文“allows the joy, wonder, and excitement of expression to bloom (绽放), even if imperfectly.(允许表达的喜悦、惊奇和兴奋绽放,即使不完美)”可推知,White老师自己控制红笔的批改,不在学生的作品上用红笔改正错误,允许表达的喜悦、惊奇和兴奋绽放,即使不完美。 根据文章第四段“I used to misspell “beautiful” often. I could never quite remember that the e went before the a. It drove my high school teacher crazy. She thought that if I was going to use the word so often, I should at least spell it correctly.(我以前经常把“beautiful”拼错。我总是记不住“e”应该在“a”前面。这让我的高中老师很抓狂。她认为,既然我要经常使用这个词,至少应该把它拼对)”可知,高中老师对作者拼错“beautiful”这个词感到恼怒。故选B。 4.主旨大意题。根据文章最后一段“Thanks to Mrs. White, I had no worry about writing what I. meant even if I couldn’t spell every word correctly. Life isn’t pretty; it’s beautiful.(多亏了White老师,即使我不能把每个单词都拼对,我也不用担心写出我想表达的意思。生活并不美好;它是美丽的)”以及全文内容可知,文章通过回忆作者与幼儿园老师White老师的互动,特别是White老师对于作者写作时错误的处理方式,来展开叙述。White老师选择不在学生的作品上用红笔改正错误,而是给予积极的评价,以鼓励学生继续表达。由此可知,文章主要讲述了White老师的教学方法对作者的影响,即让作者敢于表达自己的想法,即使拼写不完美也无妨。故选A。 Under a nearly full moon in the darkness of the night sky over Kansas, a group of student star watchers sat in a circle taking turns on the telescope. They seem very happy, very cheerful, and excited to experience new things. It was a bonding experience that was out of this world, especially considering that only a day before they were as foreign to each other as the moon landscape itself. This past summer more than 300 high school graduates signed up for the unique student exchange program. Unlike the well-known foreign exchange model that affords students a chance to study abroad, this program gives students the opportunity to soak in a brand-new culture without ever leaving the country. It’s called the American Exchange Project, or AEP for short, co-founded by 29-year-old Franely McCullough, grandson of the late Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough. “We fund kids to spend a week in the summer after senior year in an American town that is socio-economically and culturally different from the one that they’re growing up in.” McCullough said. For the past three years McCullough’s been giving high school graduates that same experience, and so far at least, it’s having the impact he hoped it would. A week may not seem like a lot of time, but at the end of those seven days, you can see the kids have been bonded so much. One girl from South Dakota said, “I’ve never been a part of a community where I’m not the minority. So, this is very much an experience that I really appreciate so much.” McCullough hopes to offer the program to a million students by decade’s end, and all free of charge, thanks to big name donors, including the likes of Steven Spielberg. “I think this all ought to be as typical to the American high school experience as the graduating party,” McCullough said. “I think every kid in every town should have an experience like this.” 1.What do the words “out of this world” mean in paragraph 2? A.Wonderful. B.Confusing. C.Challenging. D.Meaningless. 2.What can we learn about the AEP project? A.It’s a summer camp for senior students. B.It’s a free week-long trip in a new town. C.It’s in honour of a late famous historian. D.It’s a foreign exchange program in America. 3.Why does the author mention South Dakota in paragraph 5? A.To show the impact of the project. B.To explain the origin of the project. C.To predict the future of the project. D.To invite more kids to join the project. 4.What is the best title of the text? A.Students exploring the universe by the telescope. B.A new American town being open to the students. C.The big names donating fund to the students’ growth. D.A unique program for students to experience a different culture. 【答案】1.A 2.B 3.A 4.D 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。 根据第一段“Under a nearly full moon in the darkness of the night sky over Kansas, a group of student star watchers sat in a circle taking turns on the telescope. They seem very happy, very cheerful, and excited to experience new things. (在堪萨斯州漆黑的夜空中,一轮接近满月的月光下,一群学生围成一圈轮流坐在望远镜前。他们看起来很开心,很高兴,对体验新事物很兴奋。)”和划线词后文“especially considering that only a day before they were as foreign to each other as the moon landscape itself.(尤其是考虑到就在一天前,他们彼此还像月球风景一样陌生。)” 所以划线部分out of this world意思为“非常好的”,与A 选项“wonderful(极好的)”为同义词。故选 A。 2. 根据第四段中““We fund kids to spend a week in the summer after senior year in an American town that is socio-economically and culturally different from the one that they’re growing up in.” McCullough said.(‘我们资助孩子们在高中毕业后的夏天在一个社会经济和文化上与他们成长的城市不同的美国城镇度过一周。’麦卡洛说。)”可知,AEP项目是一个让学生在新城镇度过一周的免费旅行。故选 B。 3.推理判断题。根据文章第五段“A week may not seem like a lot of time, but at the end of those seven days, you can see the kids have been bonded so much. One girl from South Dakota said, ‘I’ve never been a part of a community where I’m not the minority. So, this is very much an experience that I really appreciate so much.’(一周的时间可能看起来不长,但在那七天结束时,你可以看到孩子们已经紧密地联系在一起了。来自南达科他州的一个女孩说:‘我从来没有成为过一个我不是少数民族的社区的一部分。所以,这是我非常感激的一次经历。’)”可知,此处提到南达科他州是为了展示这个项目的影响,即让孩子们有了不同的文化体验,更加紧密地联系在一起。故选A。 4. 根据第四段“It’s called the American Exchange Project, or AEP for short, co-founded by 29-year-old Franely McCullough, grandson of the late Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough. “We fund kids to spend a week in the summer after senior year in an American town that is socio-economically and culturally different from the one that they’re growing up in.” McCullough said. D选项“A unique program for students to experience a different culture(一个独特的项目,让学生体验不同的文化)”概括文章主要内容,符合标题。故选 D。 When you think back on your school days, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? The school building itself? A memorable teacher? The friends you made? Chances are that the actual lessons of reading, writing, math and science are not at the top of your list, although they do serve as the basic skills of an education. We may have taken in a lot of information, and know how to access it. But is there something else we should have learned in school? Albert Einstein said, “Education is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind to think.” Learning how to think is more than just memorizing a list of facts and figures. Learning how to think for yourself includes forming opinions and making decisions based on your own understanding. Be curious and question everything. Re-examine your views and values often and be open to opposing(反对) viewpoints. By using critical thinking skills, you can base your decisions on gathered facts, and know that things can change if new information is presented. From the wisdom of Ancient Greece come the words, “know thyself.” By understanding your feelings and discovering your strengths and weaknesses, you develop self-awareness. That will help you make decisions and pursue(追逐) goals in your best interest. Philosopher Aristotle said, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom,” which is the basic quality of having experience, knowledge and good judgment. Combined with the lessons we learned from a formal education, thinking for yourself allows you to find your place in the world. Once equipped, you can move forward to discover your own destiny(命运). 1.The author introduces the topic of the passage by_____. A.raising questions. B.giving examples. C.making comparisons. D.listing numbers. 2.Which statement is true? A.Reading, writing, maths and science are not basic skills on education. B.Education includes the training of the mind to think. C.Turn a blind eye to all the opposing viewpoints. D.We should stick to our views and never change them. 3.Why does the author mention Einstein? A.To introduce a famous figure. B.To support the main idea. C.To make a conclusion. D.To show author’s rich knowledge. 4.Judging from the last two paragraphs, what’s the relationship between “knowing yourself” and formal education? A.The two should be combined together. B.Both are from the wisdom of Ancient Greece. C.“Knowing yourself “is more important. D.“Knowing yourself “gives people less wisdom. 【答案】1.A 2.B 3.B 4.A 【导语】本文为一篇说明文,介绍了学习中独立思考的重要性,并说明应将“认识你自己”与“正规教育”结合起来。 1.推理判断题。根据文章第一段“When you think back on your school days, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? The school building itself? A memorable teacher? The friends you made?(当你回想你的学生时代,你首先想到的是什么?学校建筑本身?一个令人难忘的老师?你交的朋友)”可知,本文用提问的方式引入话题。故选A。 2.细节理解题。根据文章第三段“Albert Einstein said, “Education is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind to think.”(爱因斯坦说过:“教育不是学习事实,而是训练思维。”)”可知,教育包括对思维的训练。故选B。 3.推理判断题。根据文章第三段及第四段“Learning how to think is more than just memorizing a list of facts and figures. Learning how to think for yourself includes forming opinions and making decisions based on your own understanding. Be curious and question everything. Re-examine your views and values often and be open to opposing(反对) viewpoints. By using critical thinking skills, you can base your decisions on gathered facts, and know that things can change if new information is presented.(学习如何思考不仅仅是背一堆事实和数字。学习如何独立思考包括根据自己的理解形成观点和做出决定。保持好奇心,质疑一切。经常重新审视你的观点和价值观,并对相反的观点持开放态度。通过使用批判性思维技能,你可以根据收集到的事实做出决定,并且知道如果有新的信息出现,事情就会发生变化)”可知,作者通过引用爱因斯坦的观点,来证明学习应学会独立思考,来支持自己的观点。故选B。 4.推理判断题。根据文章倒数第二段“From the wisdom of Ancient Greece come the words, “know thyself.” By understanding your feelings and discovering your strengths and weaknesses, you develop self-awareness. That will help you make decisions and pursue(追逐) goals in your best interest. Philosopher Aristotle said, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom,” which is the basic quality of having experience, knowledge and good judgment.(古希腊有句名言:“认识你自己。”通过了解自己的感受,发现自己的优点和缺点,你会发展自我意识。这将帮助你做出决定,追求你最感兴趣的目标。哲学家亚里士多德说:“认识自己是一切智慧的开端”,这是拥有经验、知识和良好判断力的基本素质)”及最后一段“Combined with the lessons we learned from a formal education, thinking for yourself allows you to find your place in the world.(结合我们从正规教育中学到的经验,独立思考能让你在这个世界上找到自己的位置)”可知,“认识你自己”应与“正规教育”结合起来。故选A。 What a day! I started my new school this morning and had the best time. I made lots of new friends and really liked my teachers. I was nervous the night before, but I had no reason to be. Everyone was so friendly and polite. They made me feel at ease. It seemed that I’d been at the school for a hundred years! The day started very early at 7:00 am. I had my breakfast downstairs with my mum. She could tell that I was very nervous. Mum kept asking me what was wrong. She told me I had nothing to worry about and that everyone was going to love me. If they didn’t love me, Mum said she would send them her way for a good talking to, I couldn’t stop laughing. My mum dropped me off at the school gate about five minutes before the bell. A little blonde girl got dropped off at the same time and started waving at me. She ran over and told me her name was Abigail. She was very nice and we became close straight away. We spent all morning together and began to talk to another girl called Stacey. The three of us sat together in class all day and we even made our way home together! It went so quickly. Our teacher told us that tomorrow we would really start learning and developing new skills. I couldn’t wait until tomorrow and thought that I was really going to enjoy my time at my new school. I only hoped that my new friends would feel the same way too. 1.What was the feeling of the author the night before her new school? A.Excited. B.Tired. C.Worried. D.Relaxed. 2.What did the author think of her mother’s advice? A.Excellent. B.Funny. C.Reasonable D.Clear. 3.What’s the main idea of the third paragraph? A.She met many nice people. B.She had a hurried breakfast. C.She learned some new skills. D.She arrived at school very early. 4.What can we infer from the author’s first day in her new school? A.She was nervous, shy and quiet. B.She disliked Stacey or the life of the first day. C.Her new classmates didn’t love the author. D.She had a nice day and got ready for the new term. 【答案】1.C 2.B 3.A 4.D 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。讲述了作者在新学校的第一天经历。作者在新学校遇到了许多友好的人,结交了一些新朋友,并对未来的学习生活充满期待。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段中“I was nervous the night before, but I had no reason to be. While some people enjoy solving math problems, many others are afraid of the moment when they have to deal with numbers and feel really anxious. It might seem discouraging, but this “math anxiety” is quite common, and you’re far from being the only one who feels this way. Besides, our worries and fears don’t always show how able we are. The reason for this problem often begins to appear in our childhood at school. Studies have shown that math teachers who feel nervous about teaching the subject can pass their anxiety to their students, and girls might be more affected by this anxiety. According to the Program for International Student Assessment, around 31% of 15 and 16-year-olds in 34 countries said that they felt very nervous when solving math problems, 33% said they got nervous doing math homework, and nearly60% worried that math classes would be difficult. Shulamit Kahn, from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, told the BBC that providing students, especially girls, with good role models “is important, especially at a young age.” She believes the key is to have people, especially women who love teaching math, educate younger kids. David Robson, writing for BBC Future, mentioned, “It’s unclear why math causes so much fear compared to other subjects like geography. But knowing there’s a right or wrong answer might make you more anxious about not doing well.” And if we believe that we’re not “math people”, we may question about ourselves and avoid solving problems that we could deal with. Researchers have been trying to work out why mental math can make us nervous. This fear might come from all kinds of sources, but some suggest that openly expressing your fears can weaken their control on you and encourage children to see math tests as challenges rather than threat (威胁). We need to have a positive view on math and give it another try. 1.What’s the main idea of paragraph 2? A.Girls are better at math than boys. B.Math classes are difficult for everyone. C.Students’ anxiety only comes from teachers. D.Math anxiety in childhood affect students’ confidence. 2.What might happen if someone believes they’re not a “math person”? A.They will study math harder. B.They will doubt their abilities. C.They will face challenges bravely. D.They won’t see math as a threat. 3.According to the last paragraph, what are children advised to do? A.Find the reasons of math fear positively. B.Give up challenges to avoid anxiety actively. C.Speak out their fears for improvement bravely. D.Examine the reasons for math failure carefully. 4.What might be the best title of the passage? A.Math Anxiety: How to Fix It? B.Math Application: How to use Math? C.Math Learning: The Key to Success in All Fields. D.Math Competition: Race between Boys and Girls. 【答案】1.D 2.B 3.C 4.A 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。许多人有“数学焦虑症”,文章主要分析了其原因以及给出了一些建议。 1.主旨大意题。根据第二段“The reason for this problem often begins to appear in our childhood at school. (限制) student smartphone use recently. School districts are required to pass rules by July 1,2026. The new rules should restrict or ban (禁止) students from using smartphones on school grounds or while students are under the supervision of school employees. The law makes California the latest state to try to reduce student phone access. Florida, Louisiana, Indiana, and several other 'states have already passed laws aimed at restricting student phone use at school The new law is aimed at helping students focus on schoolwork, social development, and the world in front of them, not their screens, when they're in school. It is also meant to address the mental health effects that social media can have on children. But some people have raised worries that school cellphone bans could cut parents off from their children if there is an emergency (紧急情况) !And an official said that many of the students do not always like the rules, which is in part a sign of how hooked they have become to phones. The new law comes after an earlier law of the state that was passed in 2019. The 2019 law allowing school districts to restrict student' phone access makes exceptions for emergencies. The new law does not change that. ShaKenya Edison from the Santa' Barbara Unified School' District, which put in place a ban on student phone use in class during the 2023-to-2024 school year, said teachers have noted that their students have been less distracted (注意力分散的) in class since the start of the ban. Tarik McFall, head teacher of Sutter Middle School in Folsom, said that' before his school's cellphone ban, students recorded fights, filmed entertainment videos and spent lunchtime looking at their phones. “The ban has totally changed the culture of the school. I knew my first day of high school would be challenging. Do you remember the name of your kindergarten teacher? Under a nearly full moon in the darkness of the night sky over Kansas, a group of student star watchers sat in a circle taking turns on the telescope. When you think back on your school days, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? What a day!
