Step 1: Warming-up & Lead-in (5 minutes)

Activity: Play a short video about family scenes. After watching, ask students some questions like “What can you see in the video?”, “How do you feel when you see these family scenes?”

Design Intent: This activity aims to arouse students' interest in the topic of family and activate their prior knowledge about family. By watching the video, students can quickly immerse themselves in the family - related context, which helps to create a good start for the following learning.

Step 2: Presentation (10 minutes)

Activity: Show three pictures on the PPT, which are a sea, a tree, and a mountain respectively. Ask students “Which picture reminds you of your father? And why?” Give them some words for reference, such as “silent, heart, quietly, home, care, love”. Then let some students share their answers.

Design Intent: This activity is designed to predict the content of the reading passage.
