For years, Chinese students have practised English by writing letters as "Li Hua"-a fictional (虚构的) name used in middle school tests. These letters, usually talking about school life or personal hobbies, often end with, "I look forward to your reply." Recently, American users on the internet started replying to these letters. One reply came from a US user named Miranda, who shared a picture of her handwritten reply in Chinese. She spent over an hour writing the reply. She said, "I wanted to show how much it meant to me." Her message reads:
My dearest Li Hua,
I apologize(道歉)for taking such a long time to write back. I never read your letters, but they have blessed(祝福) my life. I no longer feel alone now, as I know we travel the world side by side.

Vanessa and Niki had just begun a friendship. Niki was new to the school, and Vanessa had thought she was a snob(势利的人). That was mostly because Niki said little, and besides, that was the rumor(谣言)about her. But then, Niki left her notebook on the playground by accident, and Vanessa picked it up and returned it to her. Then the two girls started to talk, and they got to know each other. Now Vanessa knew that Niki wasn't a snob, but she still didn't understand why Niki wouldn't talk to anyone.
One day, Nik explained herself, "I don't really know anyone here except you, and I'm kind of shy. I know everybody thinks I'm a snob, but I'm not. I just don't know what to say to people." Vanessa had an idea for helping Niki. "If my other friends get to know you," she told Niki, "they'll like you, too. So why don't you sit with my friends and me at lunch tomorrow? Then everybody will see what you’re like." Niki was very uncertain, but she was tired of everyone thinking she was a snob. So she agreed to have lunch with Vanessa and her friends.
The next day, Vanessa and Niki waited in the dining ball for Vanessa’s other friends. Niki was nervous, but Vanessa said, "Don't worry. Just be yourself. You’ll be fine."At last, everyone else arrived.
