Anne Shirley is an 11-year-old orphan. She has bright red hair and a very active imagination. By mistake, she is sent to Green Gables—a small farm in Avonlea. As time passes, Anne grows up. She studies very hard and becomes a smart, kind young woman. Sadly, Matthew gets seriously ill and passes away. This makes Anne and Marilla very sad. Anne loves Green Gables and Marilla deeply. In the end, she gives up a good chance far away and decides to stay. She gets a job as a teacher in her hometown to take care of Marilla. This shows how much she thanks and loves the family that gave her a real home.
