They remember 10% of what they read from textbooks, but get nearly 90% of what they learn by teaching others. The most common form of teaching others is peer tutoring(同伴辅导). It means that students teach each other and help each other. Peer tutoring is popular because it makes learning more exciting and it makes people feel like they are part of a team. Also, it makes them satisfied when their partners make progress. To do peer tutoring, students can take turns(轮流) being the teacher. The teacher explains a subject, and the student tries to understand it. If the student doesn’t get it right away, the teacher helps him understand it. It’s important to ask questions and give positive feedback(积极反馈) to each other. Then, they can both learn and have fun at the same time. Peer tutoring is really good for our brains because it helps us remember things better. When we teach others, we have to think really hard about the knowledge to make sure we explain it right and make it easy to understand. And when others teach us, we need to listen carefully and try to understand what they’re saying. This helps us learn better. 根据语篇与任务要求,在空格处填上适当的短语或句子。 Report Today I’d like to share a way of learning that I just learned from an article. It’s called“peer tutoring”. When the students put on the VR glasses, it seemed that they were taken into a new world where they could see for themselves. They could enjoy the views along the way, allowing more knowledge to be kept in mind. VR language learning is now starting to be widely used in many schools. Think of it like this. Now you are learning English in China, you don’t have enough chances(机会) to use English if you are not in English classes, but if you learn English in English⁃speaking countries like America or the UK, it’ll be much easier for you to make progress. Nowadays, a lot of apps have also been designed(设计) to serve VR language learning. The app “House of Languages” is one of them. It is already available on the Samsung VR. It can sense(感觉到) your movement and the acts of your eyeballs,  arms and hands. When you are learning English on it, lovely racoon (浣熊) called “Mr. Woo”, will guide you to communicate in English. You can use English by finishing tasks Mr. Woo gives you. For example, you will be asked to find certain things at your home according to the English words that Mr. Woo gives you. After you’ve found these things,  you should “take” them “back” to Mr. Woo and “give”  them to him. Then he will say “thanks” to you. Sometimes, Mr. Woo may have some activities like family party so that you will have more tasks to finish in that situation. You will learn English so quickly that you will even forget you are learning. Virtual Reality will be playing an important part in language education and the day isn’t far away. It will surely become one of the most important ways to help students to learn. Some students even believe that in the near future, they can use Virtual Reality to learn 4   1.Can VR be used in English classes? Yes./Yes, it can.   2.What can Samsung VR sense?  It can sense our movement and the acts of our eyeballs,  arms and hands.   3.【归纳总结】Why can VR help students learn English better?  Because it can make students have chances to use English  even if they are not in English classes and make students  enjoy learning English quickly.   v v v v v v 4.【补全文章】What subject can students use VR to learn? How? Please complete the passage. I discovered(发觉) that I didn’t need to listen word by word, so I tried to get the meaning from the characters’body language and the expressions on their faces. It really worked! For me, listening is the secret to language v v v v v learning. When I heard some interesting sentences(sentence),  I would look  them up(查阅它们) in the dictionary and take  notes(做笔记). Then I would read them out aloud(/əˈlaʊd/) to memorize(记忆) them. But how to learn well depends on your learning habits. Here are some good learning habits.  First, connect(联系) what you need to learn with something interesting. Studies show that if you are interested in something, your brain(大脑) is more active(/ˈæktɪv/) and it is easier for you to pay attention to(关注) it for long.  Second, practice more and learn from mistakes. Nobody can succeed overnight(一夜之间). v v v v v v Third, develop your study skills and look for ways to review what you have learned. We are often told, “Work hard, become successful, and then you’ll be happy.” Is it true? Can Success Bring Happiness? Happiness helps you get success; it’s not the other way around. Studies show happier people are more likely to be successful, but successful people are not always happier. Success can cause a short increase in happiness, but it cannot guarantee a long one. Shortly after achieving success, you return to your usual level(水平) of happiness. ▲   Experts say that happiness is both how good we feel in the present(目前的) moment and how good we feel when we look at our lives in the past. We all experience difficult times, and it’s natural for us to feel sad and angry. Happiness is about being able to enjoy the good times, but it’s also about dealing with the bad times. Is Happiness Being Satisfied With What You Have? Does the thought of “not having enough” or “wanting something better” trouble you all the time?Actually, it makes you miss a lot. Instead of focusing on getting more, you need to focus on what you have in your life at the present moment. Sure, you can work hard for success. But success won’t necessarily lead to happiness. True happiness is in the climb itself. So, focus on being happy right now. Be proud(骄傲的) of where you are in life and who you are. Be happy first, and embrace(拥抱) the journey to success. Some statistics (数据) from the survey(调查) done by the European Commission showed that 62% of the British people only speak English. 38% speak at least one foreign language and 18% speak two or more. Compared with the British people, 56% of the people in other European countries speak at least one foreign language and 28% speak two or more. From this you can see that the British people are famous for not speaking foreign languages and that they are not good language learners in Europe. And the survey also showed that no other foreign language is spoken as widely as English. Many European people can have a conversation in English. That’s why my people don’t think it is necessary to learn a foreign language. In Britain, students are not required(要求) to learn a foreign language. That means learning a foreign language is only an option(选择) at school. In the UK schools it is common for children to start learning a foreign language at 11 and many of them give it up at 14. So why don􀆳t students continue learning foreign languages at school? Because they think it is more difficult to get good marks in languages than in other subjects such as science or history. To solve this problem, the British government is looking for different ways to improve language learning at school. When kids start learning languages,  starting in the early grades of primary school is better because kids learn new things fast. Another way is to add more languages to school lessons for students to have more language⁃learning choices. Changing the British attitude (态度) to learning foreign languages may be a hard task but the government decides to try! ★理清文意 阅读短文,补全下文中所缺信息。 In fact, the British people are not good language learners. So, when learning a new language, you have to learn to move your mouth in a completely different way. ②But how do you do that? Try tongue twisters (绕口令)! A tongue twister is a sentence that’s difficult to read because it includes words that have similar sounds. Here’s an example:  She sells seashells by the seashore. ③This one has a combination(结合) of /s/ and /ʃ/ sounds. It’s very difficult to say. Then you can choose tongue twisters that focus on those sounds. ⑤Besides, similar sounds can be difficult. To clearly pronounce them, you need to make very small changes in your mouth. Tongue twisters can help by making you repeat similar sounds one after another. This will help train your brain to remember the small mouth changes. ⑥Speaking with a partner is an important part of language learning, but it’s not always possible. The greatest thing about tongue twisters is that you don’t need a partner. Just choose the sounds you want to practice, and go for it! ⑦Here are some fun tongue twisters. New research shows that kids do get new knowledge and learn new skills faster than grown⁃ups. It all comes down to something in the brain called GABA, which helps newly learned things stick(铭记) in your mind. Researchers have found GABA levels(水平) increase rapidly in the brains of children of primary school age while they are learning new tasks or information. However, GABA levels in the brains of adults,  aged 18 to 35, don’t change during or after lessons in new tasks and information. “Our results show that children of primary school age can learn more within a given period(时期) of time than adults,”said Takeo Watanabe, a professor at Brown University in the US. Dr Sebastian Frank, from the University of Regensburg in Germany, said their findings agreed with the common opinion that children outperformed adults in their learning abilities. “GABA plays a key role in making learning efficient,” added Dr Frank. The researchers suggested teachers and parents should give children as many chances(机会) as possible to develop new skills, from learning the times table to riding a bike. Professor Watanabe said the findings could also be used to help adults learn better. “For example, a new technology or therapy(疗法) could be developed to increase the level of GABA in the brains of adults.” ( A ) 1.【图示理解】Which shows the changes of children’s and adults’GABA levels when they learn new things? v ( B ) 2.【词义猜测】What does the underlined word “efficient” in Paragraph 4 mean? efficient /ɪˈfɪʃnt/ adj. For example, some apps can listen to our pronunciation and point out mistakes quickly. They tell us how to move our mouths and tongues(舌头) to make the right sound, just like a patient teacher. There are also apps that offer personalized reading materials(素材). If we like stories, it will offer interesting English stories at our level(水平). After reading, we can answer some simple questions to check our understanding. Another great use of AI is in writing. When we write an English article and enter it into an AI writing helper, it can correct(纠正) grammar mistakes and give suggestions on better words or sentences. It helps us learn how to express our ideas more clearly. For example, when we repeatedly use basic words, it will offer more expressive words. As a result, our writing gets more vivid(生动). Moreover, AI can create an immersive(沉浸式的) language environment. Through virtual(虚拟的) conversations with AI characters, we can practice speaking English freely. We can talk about our daily life, hobbies, or even discuss a movie we watched. The AI will respond(回应) and keep the conversation going. All in all, AI is really helpful in our English learning. It makes learning more interesting and effective(有效). But we should also remember that it is just a tool. We still need to work hard and practice more to truly learn the English language well. With the right use of AI, we can open a new door to the wonderful world of English learning. 根据语篇与任务要求,在空格处填上适当的短语或句子。 1.AI in English Learning/Study 2.improve our pronunciation 3.changes basic words 4.Language Environment Creation v v v v $
