Step 1 Pre-reading
(1) Show pictures of the Spring festival.
Free talk: Why do you think so many Chinese people travel far to go home for the Spring Festival?
(2) Prediction. Look at the title and the topic picture and predict.
• Look at the key phrase "going home" in the title. What do you think the story might be about?
• Who is going home?
• Where is his or her home?
Step 2 While-reading
(1) Read the story and answer the questions.(关注文本体裁)
• What is the passage about?
It's about the writer's experience of going home for the Spring Festival.
• What is the text type?
• What are some basic elements in a story? (Who, When, Where, What, How)
(2) Fast reading. Read the story quickly and answer the first two questions of 1b.
(3) How many characters are there in the story? What did they do? Circle the characters and underline their behaviour. Then work on 1c.
(4) How did they feel? What words are used to describe people's feelings?
· 从行为描写上推断,如 wait for us in the cold wind、walked quickly to greet them、smile、tears、held my hands 等。
· 从话语和语气上推断,如 “Ah, home again!”“Mm, the familiar taste of home!”
(5) Work on 1d. Discuss the questions in a group.

Step 3 Post-reading
(1) What is your feeling about home? Why so?(用一些家人的日常行为或言语作为 细节支撑。)
(2) Work on 1e. Read the poem and opinions. Share your understanding of “home”.
(3) 阅读活动1e中其他人对于家的阐释,圈出其中的拟人手法。

(4) Write down your understanding of “home”. Then share with your desk mate.
Activity: Write a poem
1. 教师带领学生朗诵活动1e的诗歌,感受诗歌的节奏和韵律。教师还可以课件形式呈现更多“家”主题的诗歌,为学生提供灵感。
2. 教师鼓励学生以小组为单位,汇总组员对家的理解,并将其写成一首诗歌。教师巡视课堂,提供必要的帮助,指导学生完成作品。
3. 学生以朗诵的形式,向班级分享本组的作品,由全班评选出最动人作品、最佳朗诵者等。课后,学生可以把诗歌制作成海报,张贴在教室里。

基础层
1. Review what you learn today like “Spring Festival”, “Spring Festival travel rush” and “reunion”,抄写这些词汇和短语各5遍,并尝试用它们各造1各简单句。
2. 朗读教材中的阅读语篇,录制音频发送给老师,要求发音准确、语调自然。
提高层
1. Write a passage on “My Spring Festival” with no less than 80 words.
拓展层
1. 采访自己的家人(至少3位),了解他们心中“家”的意义以及最难忘的一次春节经历,用英语整理成一份采访报告。
2. 查找一些关于其他国家新年(如圣诞节、元旦等)庆祝方式的资料,对比其与中国春节的异同,用英语写一篇小短文(不少于100词)。
