三、阅读理解
Do you have true friends? Do you want to know better between you and your friends? There are three different kinds of friends: “pest friends”, “guest friends”, and “best friends”.
The first kind of friend is simply acquaintances (熟人), and all you usually know about them is their names. You may meet this kind of friend at school, at work, or on the bus, but you don’t miss them when they’re not around. When this kind of friend does something bad, you don’t tell them. That is why they are called “pest friends”.
The second kind of friend could also be called “social partners”. They are closer than acquaintances, but not as close as true friends. You know their names, a little of what they like or dislike, and a little of their family histories; you usually have a few things in common, but you don’t talk about anything deep (深), such as your wishes or fears (害怕), and they don’t open up to you how they really feel.
The last kind of friend, the “best friend”, is the one you know the deepest. You’re like family, and know everything about each other. You have no problem staying at each other’s houses, and you share your deepest feelings and thoughts. They will correct you when you’re wrong, and though they may not be perfect (完美的), they at least will always care about you, and never do anything on purpose (故意地) to hurt you.
We all have our pest, guest, and best friends. We should value (重视) all friendships and remember, all best friends start out as just acquaintances.
1.If you and David are neighbors and classmates, and do things together, but don’t share your feelings, you are “________”.

C.what a “best friend” is D.what a best friend can do for you

Wilbur was lonely. He lay down in the straw, staring at the wooden beams of the barn (畜棚). He could not sleep. He missed Fern, the little girl who had raised him on a bottle from the time he was a tiny piglet (小猪). He thought about her gentle hands and her sweet, comforting voice. Wilbur loved her very much, and without her, the barn seemed so empty and quiet. He wished she was there to talk to him or to play games, but Fern was back at her home, leaving Wilbur alone in the big, old barn.
As he lay there, feeling the cool night air and listening to the rustling (沙沙声) of the leaves outside, a soft voice suddenly broke the silence. “Why are you so lonely?” it asked. Wilbur jumped to his feet and looked around, his heart pounding with surprise and curiosity. “Who’s there?” he whispered, peering (仔细看) into the shadows of the barn.
“I’m right here,” the voice answered gently. “Look up in the corner.”
There, in the corner of the barn, Wilbur saw a large spider spinning a web. The spider smiled down at him. “My name is Charlotte,” she said softly. “I’ve been watching you, little pig, and I think we could be friends. You seem like a nice pig, and I think you could use a friend.”
▲ He had never had a spider as a friend before. “You want to be my friend?” he asked, feeling both hopeful and confused (困惑的). He had always thought spiders were scary, but Charlotte seemed different.
“Of course,” Charlotte answered warmly, her many eyes twinkling in the moonlight. “We all need friends, Wilbur, especially in a place like this. I can see that you have a good heart, and I believe we could be very good friends. You don’t have to be lonely anymore.”
Wilbur felt a warm glow in his heart as he listened to Charlotte’s words. He could hardly believe it. Maybe he wouldn’t be so lonely after all. He watched in fascination as Charlotte continued to spin her web. Wilbur realized that having a friend, no matter how different they might seem, could make life feel less lonely and much more exciting. The barn no longer felt quite so empty, and for the first time in a while, Wilbur felt a sense of peace and happiness.

Five years back, Sally was the new kid in class. I don’t know what it was, but something special about her drew me to her. She was the friendliest person I had ever known. We started as classmates, but after a few months, we were like best friends. So, I never expected her to hurt me in such a big way.
I don’t know what made me tell Sally about my personal life. She made the matter bigger than it was, telling everyone at school. It was like someone had stabbed (刺伤) me in the back. After she gave away my secrets, everyone at school started laughing at me, looking at me whenever I passed by! I had to change a school. Sally called me many times, but I didn’t answer. My heart was broken.
I tried hard to heal (治愈, 康复) from the pain she left on my heart. After five years, my life went back to the way it was, with new friends. But one day, I met Anna, my classmate from the third grade. She told me that it was Mary who brought my secrets to light. Mary was our school’s big mouth who always wanted to stick her nose into other people’s business.
I wished I could have asked Sally about this. I wished I could go back in time and fix my mistakes. From that, I learned a life lesson that we should trust those we love because one little mistake could really harm our lives.

A.Because Sally didn’t want to be friends with the writer.
B.Because Sally might spread the writer’s personal secrets.
C.Because Sally laughed at the writer in front of others.

2.The underlined phrase “big mouth” in Paragraph 4 refers to a person who ________.
A.likes talking a lot, and who cannot keep secrets
B.does something harmful to somebody who you trust
C.would like to tell people about her own secret information
D.tries to remember everything that makes her worried
3.From the last paragraph, we can infer the writer will be most likely to ________ later.

C.tell Mary about her secrets D.call Sally and say sorry to her

A.pest friends B.guest friends C.best friends D.not friends
2.The fourth paragraph mainly tells us ________.
A.how to make a best friend B.how to learn from your best friends
C.what a “best friend” is D.what a best friend can do for you
3.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?
