Cultural Tip:Bamboo is a special symbol in Chinese culture. It stands for strength, humility and resilience.Even though bamboo is thin, it can bend in strong winds but not break. This shows how to stay strong in hard times.Bamboo is also seen as honest and elegant, like a “gentleman”.It is one of the “Four Gentlemen” in Chinese art, along with plum, orchid, and chrysanthemum.Bamboo is loved in Chinese art, poems, and philosophy for its beauty and meaning.

Teaching Reflection
In this lesson, students explored the cultural significance and practical uses of bamboo through listening, speaking and roleplaying activities. The leadin discussion successfully activated their prior knowledge, and the video helped deepen their understanding of bamboo's symbolism in Chinese culture. The roleplay activities were engaging, but I noticed that some students hesitated to use interjections naturally, suggesting a need for more guided practice.Overall, the lesson achieved its objectives, but I plan to incorporate more interactive and visual aids in future classes to reinforce challenging concepts and encourage more natural language use.
