A A moon crystal found by China on the nearside of the moon is giving scientists hope of providing limitless power for the earth forever. The moon crystal has a key ingredient(成分)for the nuclear fusion(核聚变)process, a form of power production that controls the same forces that supply energy for the Sun and other stars in space. The crystal was found in the matter collected from the moon in 2020 and makes China the third country to discover new moon matter, behind the US and the former Soviet Union. One of the primary ingredients found in this crystal is helium-3,which scientists believe may provide an ever-growing energy source for nuclear fusion reactors. The ingredient is hardly seen on Earth, but it seems to be fairly common on the moon.China's next moon project is to send up Chang'e-6 in 2024,which will attempt to collect the first samples()from the other side of the moon-which never faces the Earth. For years, scientists have been attracted by helium-3 and its possible source of energy for nuclear fusion.Nuclear fusion reactions happen naturally, when two light atoms crash into a heavier one, under extreme pressure and heat. They take place inside stars, but humans have yet to create a fusion reactor with enough energy to start the process. Helium-3 is promising as it produces less radiation()and nuclear waste than other ingredients, according to the European Space Agency. The present nuclear fission (process used in nuclear power plants, delivers not only energy but radioactivity, and the used nuclear energy must be reprocessed into harmful chemicals and other waste. It's a process that has raised serious safety concerns, and as a result, scientists have been searching for a way to create nuclear power from nuclear fusion, rather than fission. During the fusion process, radioactive waste is not produced, possibly making a safer energy source. Many countries hope to mine the moon for helium-3,and this latest discovery could start the race. 1.Which part of a website is the text probably taken from? A.Travel. B.Space. C.Geography. In April,a Spanish athlete named Beatriz Flamini came out of a cave where she had spent 500 days as part of a study on social isolation.During her time 70 metres underground,Flamini had no human contact at all. However, she did record videos of herself and was monitored continually by scientists. Doctors measuring the effects of isolation are building up a picture of how it can change the way people experience the passing of time, and how it affects the body's natural clock.Flamini first entered the cave on 20 November 2021,but she lost track of time 65 days later.During her time underground, she sometimes experienced auditory hallucinations, which means that she was hearing noises that weren't there. The isolation affected her balance when she came out of the cave, and she also had to get used to being in sunlight. Isolation studies are important for planning for long-lasting space tasks.Although astronauts()often work with other members, the teams are small and their living quarters are small, too. For example, the astronaut Kjell Lindgren spent 141 days on board the International Space Station with never more than five teammates for company. This summer, four volunteers will start a year of living inside a big box,as part of NASA's Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog. The aim of this experiment is to find out how astronauts will manage extreme isolation and stay healthy while living on Mars. 5.What does the underlined word "adore"in Paragraph 1 mean? Why do people love it? 9 Xuanwu Lake provides a peaceful escape right in central Nanjing, with temples, teahouses and restaurants located in nearby Xuanwu Lake Park.Unlike city walls in Beijing or Xi'an,Nanjing's old wall isn't geometric(几何图形的)and instead contours the lake and mountain areas.10 The sense of surprise delivered by these central natural expanses(广阔的☒域),like the Yangtze River,Zhongshan Mountain range and Xuanwu Lake,is what new residents love about living here. What's it like living here? For those who miss the foods of home, there's no shortage of foreign restaurants and cafes that cater to expats and international students.11 Nanjing has an efficient and expansive metro system that covers most of the city, but cycling is also an option, with bike-friendly wide and straight roads. Residents rave about how affordable Nanjing is compared to other Chinese cities, especially when it comes to housing.12 That said, the weather can be rough in winter, since most buildings lack central heating.Summers are also very hot and humid (潮湿的). In general,a certain traditionalism and conservatism can be felt more strongly here than in other Chinese cities, which can make it more of a challenge to make local friends quickly. The language and cultural barrier tends to be high.13 A.Getting around the city is easy. B.The city also has plenty of low-key and live-music clubs. C.As a result, natural sites often appear in unexpected areas of the city. D.So learning and speaking Mandarin Chinese can help with integrating()into the local community. E.If you want to experience more of Nanjing's past, the streets of Lao Men Dong is a must-see. F.Rent for an 85-sq-m apartment is more than 50%cheaper than Beijing and 65% less than Shanghai. G.Though home to 8.3 million people,Nanjing is one of the few big cities left in China to offer easy access to peace. A girl complained to her father about her life and that things were so hard for her.
