The phoenix coronet fridge magnet (凤冠冰箱贴) from the National Museum of China in Beijing is a big hit. A large number of museum visitors list it as one of the “most wanted cultural and creative products”.
The fridge magnet looks like a real ancient phoenix coronet from the Ming Dynasty and comes in two styles: wooden and metal. The metal coronets come with AR effects that allow people to see themselves wearing them after scanning a QR code ( 扫描二维码).
Visitors can buy the fridge magnets at the museum’s gift shop. Fu Zicheng, a 12-year-old student from Beijing, first saw the phoenix coronet fridge magnet online. He liked it so much that he went to the National Museum of China to see the real thing and learn about its story. After seeing the real coronet and a large number of other exhibits in the museum, Fu shared, “It’s amazing to see the richness of Chinese history.”
Today, the “museum fever” is heating up in our country. Tourists’ interest in culture is one of the reasons behind it. To attract more visitors, museums across the country have introduced cultural and creative products related to their exhibits, from fridge magnets and key rings to soft toys. Li Shizhen, a well-known medical scientist of the Ming Dynasty, is considered a great master of medicine in China. He put his heart and soul into medicine to save the dying and help the sick.
Li was born in 1518 in Hubei. His grandfather was a country doctor who travelled from place to place with a bag of herbs ( 药草). Such doctors were called lingyi (bell doctors), because they could announce their arrival by ringing a bell. Li’s father was also a famous doctor in their local area.

Unit 3 Robots
一、阅读理解。
Sophia is a human-like robot developed by Hanson Robotics, a company based in Hong Kong. Designed to look and act like a human, Sophia has a lifelike face, smooth skin, and expressive eyes that can show emotions such as joy, sadness, or curiosity. She can hold conversations, answer questions, and even tell jokes using advanced artificial intelligence (AI).
One of Sophia’s key features ( 特点) is her ability to recognize ( 辨别) faces. Her eyes have cameras that help her “see” people and remember their appearances. For example, if you meet her twice, she might say, “Nice to see you again!” This skill allows her to interact naturally with humans. Sophia’s creators want her to help people in different fields. She has worked in hospitals to support doctors by guiding patients, appeared in TV shows, and even made a speech at the United Nations about the role of robots in society.
Sophia’s AI system learns from experience. Although she sometimes makes mistakes, her knowledge grows over time. In 2017, Saudi Arabia made history by giving her citizenship, making her the first robot to receive such a status. This event caused global discussions about the future of robots and humans.
Some people worry that robots like Sophia might take over human jobs. However, Hanson Robotics explains that their goal is to create robots that work with humans, not replace them. For example, robots can do repetitive tasks in factories and companies, while humans focus on creative work. Sophia’s team also believes robots could help in education, teaching students languages or science in fun ways.
Today, Sophia continues to improve. She can now speak over 20 languages and even create art! While she is still learning, her existence shows how quickly digital evolution ( 数字进化) is advancing. Scientists predict that in the future, robots like Sophia might become common helpers in homes, schools, and offices.
Sophia reminds us that robots are not just machines—they could be our partners in building a better world.
1. ( )What is one of Sophia’s key abilities mentioned in the article?
A. Cooking delicious meals for humans.

On April 19, the world’s first half-marathon for humanoid ( 类人的) robots was held in Beijing. The robots waited beside human runners, starting from the same line.
“I saw many robots running. Some were surprisingly fast, others had very lovely designs, and their running styles were quite different,” said Zhang Huihui, who took part in the race.
During the 21-kilometer-long race, the robots had to run on two legs. Some even wore running shoes. Each robot was supported by a team of human guides, operators ( 操作员) and engineers. They could have their batteries changed during the race. Teams could even use new robots when the old ones could no longer run.
There were 20 teams in the race and six of them made it to the end. Tiangong Ultra won the first in two hours and 40 minutes. “It crossed the finish line about 30 minutes earlier than expected,” said Xiong Youjun, CEO of a robot center. “In general, all the robots today could deal with challenges such as turns and speed bumps. We made history together.”
“Robots’ completing the race isn’t the finish line. It’s the starting point for the growth of the robot industry,” said Liang Liang, from Yizhuang’s Administrative Committee.
Although the robots fell from time to time, the event proved that they could do real-life tasks. Liang added, “Their small steps today will become giant leaps for human technological progress tomorrow.”

Astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore never imagined that they would spend nine months in orbit. Their first trip to the International Space Station (ISS) in June last year was supposed to last just eight days. 1. _______
Now they are finally returning home. Although they are both experienced astronauts, staying in a lowgravity environment for a long time has probably affected their bodies. 2. _______
Muscles and bones
Without the constant pull of gravity on our arms and legs, muscle and bone mass quickly get weaker. The muscles that are most affected are those that help us keep our posture, such as the back and neck. After just two weeks, muscle mass can decrease by 20%, and by as much as 30% during longer missions.
3. _______ Astronauts can lose 1%—2% of their bone mass per month spent in space and up to 10% over a six-month period. This can increase the risk of fractures (骨折) and the time it takes to recover. It can take up to four years for their bone mass to return to normal after they return to the Earth.
Weight loss
4. _______ Although NASA tries to ensure that its astronauts have different kinds of nutritious foods, the low-gravity environment can still affect an astronaut’s body. Scott Kelly, a NASA astronaut who took part in the most in-depth study of the effects of the long-term spaceflight after staying on board the ISS for 340 days, lost 7% of his body mass.
