教学过程
1. Warming - up (5 minutes)
Greet the students as usual.
Show some pictures of famous international landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower in France, the Great Wall in China, and the Statue of Liberty in the USA. Ask students: "Have you ever been to a foreign country? Which country have you been to? Why did you go there? Which places did you visit?" Encourage several students to share their experiences. This activity can quickly attract students' attention and arouse their interest in the topic of international exchanges.
2. Presentation (15 minutes)
Vocabulary Teaching
Use flashcards or PPT to show the new words one by one. For example, when showing the word "exchange", explain: "Exchange means an act of giving one thing and receiving another thing in return. In our topic, it often refers to educational exchange, like students from different countries go to each other's schools." Read the word aloud, ask students to repeat several times, and then let them practice spelling it. Do the same for other words such as "culture", "host family", etc.
Teach some phrases. Write "stay with" on the blackboard. Explain: "We use'stay with' to describe living or spending time with someone. For example, you will stay with your host family during the educational exchange." Let students make sentences with this phrase.
Concept Introduction
Show a picture of two students from different countries shaking hands in a school. Ask students: "What is this? Do you know what an educational exchange is?" Then explain: "An educational exchange is a school programme. Students from two different cities or countries go to each other's schools and stay with host families for a short time." Let students read the definition aloud to strengthen their memory.
3. Practice (15 minutes)
Picture - based Practice
Show a series of pictures related to educational exchanges, such as students studying together, visiting local places, trying local food, etc. Ask students to describe what they see in the pictures using the new words and phrases they just learned. For example: "The students are staying with their host families. They are learning about local culture." Invite several students to describe each picture.
Group Discussion
Divide students into groups of four. Give each group a topic: "What do people probably do on an educational exchange?" Let students discuss in groups and write down their ideas. After 5 minutes, ask each group to report their discussion results. Some possible answers may include "learn a new language", "make new friends", "try local food", "visit places of interest", etc.
4. Production (8 minutes)
Role - play
Set a situation: Suppose a student from the UK is coming to study in your school as part of an educational exchange. You are going to introduce your school and local culture to him/her. Divide students into pairs, one acts as the local student and the other acts as the exchange student from the UK. Let them make a dialogue using the vocabulary and knowledge they have learned. Walk around the classroom to provide guidance and help. After 5 minutes, invite several pairs to come to the front of the class and perform their dialogues.
5. Summary and Homework (2 minutes)
Summary
Summarize the key points of this class with students, including the new words, phrases and the concept of educational exchanges. Ask students to recall what they have learned.
Homework
Ask students to write a short passage about what they would like to do if they have a chance to participate in an educational exchange. The passage should be at least 80 words and use at least five new words or phrases learned in this class.
教学反思
After this class, overall, most students showed great interest in the topic of educational exchanges. The warming - up activity effectively activated their prior knowledge and engaged them in the class. The vocabulary teaching through visual aids like flashcards and PPT was helpful for students to remember the new words. However, during the group discussion, some students were a bit shy and did not actively participate. In the future, more encouragement and specific guidance should be given to these students. Also, in the role - play activity, some students had difficulty using the language fluently. This indicates that more practice opportunities and language input are needed. For the homework, it is expected that students can further consolidate what they have learned in class and express their own ideas about educational exchanges.
