教学过程
1. Warming - up (5 minutes)
Greet the students as usual.
Show some pictures on the PPT, such as a person climbing a high mountain, a child standing up after falling down, and a student speaking in front of a large audience. Ask students: "What do you think of these people in the pictures? How would you describe them?" Encourage students to express their initial feelings and descriptions, leading to the theme of "Be strong, be brave".
2. Presentation (15 minutes)
Vocabulary Teaching
Present the new words one by one on the PPT. For each word, show its pronunciation, meaning and an example sentence. For example, for the word "brave", show the pronunciation, and then give the sentence "The brave firefighter saved the child from the burning building." Let students read the word and the sentence after the teacher several times.
Use flashcards to review the words quickly. Show the flashcards with words on one side and pictures on the other side. Ask students to say the words when seeing the pictures and vice versa.
Expression Teaching
Write some important expressions on the blackboard, such as "be afraid of", "have the courage to do sth.". Explain their meanings and usage through examples. For example, "I am afraid of snakes." and "She has the courage to speak in public."
Let students make their own sentences using these expressions and share them with the class.
3. Practice (15 minutes)
Listening Practice
Play a short dialogue recording about a student overcoming the fear of speaking in class. Before playing, give students two or three simple questions, such as "What was the student afraid of?", "What did the student do finally?". After playing, ask students to answer the questions. Check the answers together.
Play the recording again, and this time ask students to listen carefully and fill in the blanks in a hand - out with the missing words related to the new vocabulary and expressions.
Speaking Practice
Divide students into pairs. Ask them to talk about a time when they or someone they know was brave. They can use the learned words and expressions in their conversation. Walk around the classroom to monitor and offer help if necessary.
Invite some pairs to come to the front of the class and share their conversations with the whole class.
4. Production (8 minutes)
Writing Practice
Ask students to write a short paragraph about a brave moment in their lives. They should include at least three of the new words and two expressions learned in this class. Remind them to pay attention to grammar, spelling and punctuation.
After students finish writing, ask them to exchange their paragraphs with their partners. Let them read each other's works and give some simple comments, such as "Your description is vivid." or "There is a small grammar mistake here."
Select several students to read their paragraphs aloud to the class.
5. Summary and Homework (2 minutes)
Summary
Briefly review the key vocabulary, expressions and grammar points learned in this class with the students. Ask students to recall and repeat them.
Emphasize the importance of being strong and brave in life.
Homework
Ask students to write a more detailed story about a brave experience, with at least 100 words. They can add more details, such as how they felt at that time and what they learned from it.
Tell students to prepare for the next class by looking for more examples of brave deeds in newspapers, magazines or online.
教学反思
After this class, I will reflect on the following aspects:
Teaching Objectives Achievement: Check whether students have mastered the key vocabulary and expressions. Observe if they can use the learned language to talk about the theme in speaking and writing. Evaluate if the emotional objectives have been achieved by observing students' attitudes and discussions during the class.
Teaching Methods: Consider whether the teaching methods, such as presentation, practice and production, are effective. For example, if students have difficulty in understanding the new words, I may need to use more vivid ways, like more real - life examples or short videos, in future teaching.
Student Participation: Analyze the level of student participation. If some students are less involved, think about how to encourage them to participate more actively in the next class, such as by giving more individual attention or designing more interesting group activities.
Time Management: Review whether the time allocation for each part of the class is reasonable. If the writing practice time is too short, adjust the time for different activities in the next class to ensure that students have enough time to complete each task.
