Teaching Key Points Vocabulary: Ensure students can accurately pronounce, spell, and use the vocabulary related to dream jobs. Teaching Difficult Points Expressing Reasons: Guide students to give clear and logical reasons for choosing their dream jobs, which requires them to organize their thoughts in English. Integrating Skills: Coordinate different language skills, such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, to comprehensively complete tasks related to dream jobs. Critical Thinking: Encourage students to think critically about the requirements and challenges of their dream jobs and how to prepare for them. A. Vocabulary Dream Jobs: engineer, doctor, teacher, artist, scientist, police officer, firefighter, nurse, lawyer, accountant, journalist, designer, singer, dancer, actor/actress, athlete, chef, pilot, etc. Related Words: skill, quality, responsibility, achieve, goal, future, because, think, important, interesting, exciting, boring, challenging B. Sentence Patterns I want to be a/an... because... For example: I want to be a doctor because I want to help people. My dream job is to be a/an... and I think... For example: My dream job is to be an artist and I think it's interesting to create beautiful works. In the future, I will... to become... For example: In the future, I will study hard to become a good teacher. C. Grammar Simple Present Tense: Used to express present facts or general statements, like "I like helping people, so I want to be a nurse." Simple Future Tense: Used to talk about future plans or intentions, such as "I will go to university to study medicine to achieve my dream of being a doctor." 教学过程 A. Warming-up (5 minutes) Greet the students as usual. Show some pictures of different jobs on the PPT, such as a doctor treating a patient, a teacher teaching in the classroom, and an engineer designing a building. Then ask students: "Boys and girls, look at these pictures. Can you tell me what these people do? And do you know any other jobs?" Encourage students to speak out the jobs they know in English. B. Lead-in (5 minutes) Based on the students' answers in the warming-up part, continue the conversation. Ask: "Among these jobs, which one do you want to do in the future? Why?" Invite several students to share their ideas briefly. Write down some of the students' answers on the blackboard, like "I want to be a teacher because I like kids." Then introduce the topic of this class - "Dream jobs". C. Presentation (12 minutes) Vocabulary Teaching Present the new vocabulary about dream jobs on the PPT one by one. Pronounce each word clearly and ask students to repeat after you several times. For example, when presenting "engineer", say: "This word is 'engineer'. E - N - G - I - N - E - E - R, engineer. Repeat after me." Use pictures or simple descriptions to help students understand the meaning of each word. For instance, for "firefighter", show a picture of a firefighter putting out a fire and explain: "A firefighter is a person who is responsible for putting out fires and saving people from danger." After teaching all the words, play a word - guessing game. Describe a job in English, like "This person helps people when they are sick. Who is he/she?" and ask students to guess the job. Sentence Pattern Teaching Write the sentence pattern "I want to be a/an... because..." on the blackboard. Explain its structure and usage. For example: "In this sentence, 'I want to be' shows your wish for a future job, and 'because' is used to give the reason. Now, let's make some sentences together. I'll start. I want to be a singer because I like singing. Your turn." Invite students to make sentences using this pattern. Then introduce the sentence pattern "My dream job is to be a/an... and I think...". Explain it in a similar way. For example: "We use this pattern to talk about our dream jobs and our opinions about them. For example, My dream job is to be a teacher and I think it's very meaningful to teach students." Let students practice making sentences with this pattern as well. D. Practice (10 minutes) Listening Practice Play a short dialogue recording about two students talking about their dream jobs. Before playing, ask students to listen carefully and answer two questions: "What are the two students' dream jobs?" and "Why do they choose these jobs?" After playing the recording once, let students discuss their answers in pairs. Then play the recording again if necessary. Check the answers with the whole class. Speaking Practice Divide students into pairs. Ask each pair to have a conversation about their dream jobs using the vocabulary and sentence patterns they just learned. They should ask each other about their dream jobs and the reasons. Walk around the classroom to monitor and offer help if needed. After a few minutes, invite some pairs to come to the front of the class and act out their conversations. Give praise and encouragement to all the pairs. E. Production (8 minutes) Writing Practice Assign a writing task to students. Ask them to write a short passage about their own dream jobs. They should include the following information: What is your dream job? Why do you want to do this job? What will you do in the future to achieve this dream? Give them some time to write. While they are writing, walk around and provide guidance on grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. After they finish writing, ask students to exchange their passages with their partners. They should read their partners' passages and give some simple comments, like "I like your reason for choosing this job. It's very interesting." or "You can add more details here." Sharing Invite several students to come to the front and share their passages with the whole class. After each student shares, ask other students if they have any questions or comments. F. Summary and Homework (5 minutes) Summary Summarize the key points of this class with the students. Review the new vocabulary about dream jobs, the important sentence patterns, and the grammar used. Ask students to repeat after you to reinforce their memory. Emphasize the importance of thinking about their future career plans and encourage them to work hard to achieve their dreams. Homework Ask students to make a poster about their dream jobs. They should draw a picture related to their dream jobs on the poster and write a short passage under the picture, just like what they did in class. They can decorate their posters as they like. Tell students to read more articles about different jobs in English reading materials or on the Internet to expand their knowledge. 教学反思 Positive Aspects The warming - up and lead - in activities were effective in attracting students' attention and arousing their interest in the topic. Most students were actively involved in sharing their ideas about jobs they knew, which smoothly led to the introduction of dream jobs. The vocabulary teaching method using pictures and descriptions was helpful for students to understand and remember the new words. The word - guessing game increased the fun of learning and enhanced students' understanding of the words. In the practice and production parts, the pair work and group activities provided students with sufficient opportunities to practice speaking and writing. The peer - to - peer interaction and sharing also motivated students to express themselves and learn from each other. Areas for Improvement In the listening practice, some students had difficulty catching all the key information in the dialogue. Next time, it might be better to provide some pre - listening questions with more guidance to help them focus. During the speaking practice, a few students were a bit shy and did not actively participate. In future classes, more encouragement and specific guidance should be given to these students to build up their confidence. In the writing part, some students had problems with grammar and sentence structure. Although on - site guidance was provided, more grammar exercises related to writing about dream jobs could be arranged in advance to strengthen their writing skills. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
