Write down some of the students' responses on the blackboard, such as "money", "fame", "happiness", etc. Then, show the students some pictures of successful people, like Bill Gates, Serena Williams, and Elon Musk. Ask the students to briefly describe what these people have achieved. This activity can arouse students' interest in the topic and activate their prior knowledge. 5.2 Pre - listening (8 minutes) Present the key vocabulary related to success on the PPT. Explain the meanings and pronunciations of the words one by one, and let the students repeat after the teacher. For example, for the word "perseverance", the teacher can say, "Perseverance means continuing to try to do something, even though it is difficult. /ˌpɜːsɪˈvɪərəns/". Divide the students into pairs. Give each pair a set of flashcards with the key words. The students take turns to pick a card, describe the word on the card without saying the word itself, and let the partner guess. This vocabulary - building activity helps students better understand and remember the words before listening. 5.3 While - listening (15 minutes) First listening: Play the first part of the listening material, which is a short monologue about a person's definition of success. Before playing, tell the students to listen carefully and answer the question: "What is the speaker's definition of success?" After listening, ask several students to share their answers. Second listening: Play the second part of the listening material, which is a dialogue between two people discussing their experiences of achieving success. This time, ask the students to listen for specific details, such as "What difficulties did they face?" and "How did they overcome them?". After listening, let the students work in pairs to fill in a table with the information they heard. Third listening: Play the whole listening material again. This time, ask the students to pay attention to the intonation of the speakers. After listening, divide the class into groups of four. Each group selects a few sentences from the listening material and practices reading them with the correct intonation. Then, invite some groups to come to the front of the class and perform the sentences. 5.4 Speaking (12 minutes) Personal sharing: Ask the students to think about their own success stories. Give them a few minutes to organize their thoughts. Then, invite several students to come to the front of the class and share their success experiences using the sentence patterns they have learned, such as "Once I... I faced many difficulties, but I didn't give up. Finally, I managed to... In my opinion, this is a success because...". Group discussion: Divide the students into groups of four or five. Pose a discussion topic: "What are the most important qualities for achieving success?" Each group member takes turns to express their views. Encourage the students to use the vocabulary and sentence patterns they have learned. During the discussion, the teacher walks around the classroom, listens to the students' conversations, and offers guidance and help when necessary. Group presentation: After the group discussion, each group selects a representative to summarize the group's discussion results and present them to the whole class. The representative should use clear language and appropriate intonation to present the key points. 5.5 Summary and Homework (5 minutes) Summary: Summarize the key vocabulary, sentence patterns, and intonation knowledge learned in this class. Review the main points of the listening materials and the important ideas expressed in the speaking activities. Ask the students if they have any questions or need further clarification. Homework: Ask the students to write a short passage about their understanding of success, including their own definition of success, an example of a successful person they admire, and the qualities they think are necessary for success. Encourage the students to find an article or a video about success in English and share it with the class in the next lesson. 教学反思 After this class, I will reflect on the following aspects: Teaching effectiveness: Whether the students have achieved the teaching objectives. Did they master the key vocabulary and sentence patterns? Were they able to effectively express their opinions on success in speaking activities? I can assess this through students' performance in class, such as their participation in discussions, the accuracy of their language use, and their ability to complete the homework. Student participation: Did all students actively participate in the class activities? Were there any students who were too shy or lacked confidence to speak? In future classes, I need to find more ways to encourage these students to participate, such as providing more individualized support and creating a more relaxed and inclusive classroom environment. Teaching methods: Were the teaching methods, such as vocabulary - building games, listening tasks, and group discussions, appropriate and effective? If some students had difficulty understanding the listening materials, I may need to adjust the difficulty level or provide more pre - listening guidance in the future. Also, I can explore more creative ways to make the speaking activities more engaging and challenging for the students. Time management: Did I manage the class time well? Were there any parts of the class that took too much or too little time? I need to make sure that each teaching step is allocated an appropriate amount of time to ensure a smooth teaching process. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
