It was October 10, 2013. Torbjorn Pedersen set out on a long trip. He wanted to visit every country in the world. And he would not go home until he realized his goal.

However, Pedersen found some small countries hard to get to. Among them was Equatorial Guinea. After a four-month wait, Pedersen finally got his visa (签证). A stranger he had met once earlier showed him around the African country.

At first, Pedersen thought it would take four years to finish his trip, but the world had other plans.He had malaria (疟疾) while in Ghana. And while crossing the Atlantic from Iceland to Canada, he was caught in a terrible storm. In early 2020, Pedersen had to stay in Hong Kong because of COVID - 19. "It was the worst and the best time of my life," he said. "While waiting for the world to reopen, I made friends with many kind people."
  On May 24, 2023, the "big day" finally arrived. Pedersen visited his final country, the Maldives.
From start to finish, the traveller covered 223,000 miles (英里). But Pedersen says it's not the numbers that matter the most. Instead, it's the kindness of people. "I always believe 'A stranger is a friend you've never met before,'" he says. "And my experience shows time and time again that this is true."

The Spring Festival was Li Ming's favourite holiday. Every year in the past, his son and daughter came back to visit and they had fun together. But this year, because of a heavy snowstorm before the festival, they couldn't come back. "The Spring Festival is ruined (毁坏)," Li Ming said, feeling unhappy.

Li Ming and his wife went outside to clean the snow. They met some of their neighbors. They seemed unhappy too.

"I was planning to celebrate with my daughter in the city," said Grandma Liu, shaking her head. "I made rice cakes, but I have to eat them at home by myself."

"My son was coming home," Mr Chen said. "I prepared fish, but now it seems wasted."

"I don't have much of a celebration going on, either," said Miss Zhao. "My parents were going to bring the lion dance props (道具). All I have are some lanterns."

Suddenly, Li Ming got an idea. After discussing with his wife, he shouted, "We have dumplings! Let's celebrate the New Year right here together!"

"Great! Good idea!" all the neighbors gladly said. They helped set the table and brought their own dishes. Everyone ate delicious food and talked happily. The air was filled with joy and happiness.
  As the clock struck midnight, fireworks lit up the sky. Li Ming felt thankful for the delicious food, and most importantly, his kind neighbors.

In these years, Yingge Dance attracted many people on the Internet. Its exciting performance at the 2025 Spring Festival Gala also amazed many people.

The 300-year-old dance comes from Shantou, a place famous for its rich culture and traditions (传统). People also call it the "Songs of Heroes".

This summer vacation, Zheng Yuqiong visited there. During her visit, she was so lucky that she saw Yingge Dance in person. "Watching Yingge Dance was an exciting experience. I stood on the street with many local people and visitors from other places, waiting for the dancers to arrive. Soon, I heard the sound of gongs and sticks. A flag with the words 'Shantouqian Yingge Team' led the way, and a big group of energetic dancers followed behind," she said.

The performers were bright, colourful clothes and carried wooden sticks. They moved their sticks skillfully, making them seem like part of their bodies. Sometimes, they shouted, making the performance even more exciting. The mix (混合) of music, movement, and sound brought joy to everyone.

After the show, Yuqiong talked to a dancer. The dancer said, "I'm glad to be part of the Yingge Dance. It is not only a show but also a way to celebrate the culture and bring people together. Also, it helps spread (传播) our culture and makes Chinese people more confident." His
