Unit 3 Social networking-A Getting ready This unit focuses on the theme of social networking. In part A - Getting ready, students are introduced to the basic vocabulary related to social networking, such as "social media", "online friends", "post", "like", "comment", etc. They will also start to explore the concept of social networking, understand its popularity among people, especially teenagers, and the various ways people use it in daily life. This part serves as a foundation for the subsequent learning of grammar, reading, and in - depth discussion about social networking in the unit. 教学目标 1. Knowledge Objectives Students will be able to master the key vocabulary related to social networking. Understand the function and usage of alternative questions and indefinite pronouns in the context of social networking. 2. Ability Objectives Develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills related to the topic of social networking. Enable students to use alternative questions to make choices and express preferences, and use indefinite pronouns correctly in sentences. 3. Emotional Objectives Cultivate students' awareness of using social networking in a proper and responsible way. Stimulate students' interest in discussing and sharing their experiences and opinions about social networking. 教学重难点 1. Key Points Key vocabulary: social media, online friends, post, like, comment, etc. Structure: Alternative questions (e.g., Do you like chatting with friends online or offline ) and indefinite pronouns (e.g., someone, anyone, everyone, something, anything, everything). 2. Difficult Points Helping students distinguish the usage of different indefinite pronouns, especially in negative and interrogative sentences. Guiding students to use alternative questions and indefinite pronouns accurately and fluently in real - life communication scenarios related to social networking. 1. Vocabulary Social media: Platforms that allow people to communicate, share information, and build relationships online, such as WeChat, Facebook, Instagram, etc. Online friends: People who become friends through social media or the Internet without necessarily meeting in person first. Post: To publish something, like a photo, a text, or a video, on social media. For example, "I want to post a photo of my trip on WeChat." Like: To show approval or preference for a post on social media. "She got a lot of likes for her new video." Comment: To write a response or opinion about a post. "Please leave a comment if you have any ideas." 2. Grammar Alternative questions: Structure: Auxiliary verb + subject + predicate + option 1 + or + option 2 For example, "Do you want to go shopping or stay at home " "Is he reading a book or watching TV " Function: Used to offer two or more choices and ask the listener to make a selection. Indefinite pronouns: Someone / somebody: Refers to an unspecified person. Used in affirmative sentences. For example, "Someone is waiting for you outside." Anyone / anybody: Used in negative and interrogative sentences, meaning any person. "Is there anyone in the classroom " "I don't know anyone here." Everyone / everybody: Means every person. "Everyone likes music." Something: Refers to an unspecified thing in affirmative sentences. "I have something important to tell you." Anything: Used in negative and interrogative sentences, meaning any thing. "Do you have anything to eat " "There isn't anything interesting in this book." Everything: Means all things. "Everything is ready for the party." 教学过程 1. Lead - in (5 minutes) Show some pictures of people using different social media platforms on their mobile phones or computers, such as people chatting on WeChat, posting photos on Instagram, or making comments on a blog. Ask students: "What are these people doing " "Do you know these apps " "Do you often use social media " Let students share their experiences briefly. 2. Vocabulary Presentation (10 minutes) Present the new vocabulary related to social networking one by one on the PPT. Along with each word, show relevant pictures or short video clips to help students understand. For example, when presenting "post", show a short video of a person uploading a photo on a social media platform. Read the words aloud, and ask students to repeat after you several times. Pay attention to the pronunciation of each word. Do a quick vocabulary quiz. Show the pictures on the PPT again, and ask students to call out the corresponding English words immediately. 3. Grammar Explanation (10 minutes) Alternative questions: Write some simple alternative questions on the blackboard, such as "Do you like apples or bananas " "Are you a student or a teacher " Explain the structure and function of alternative questions to students. Give more examples related to social networking, like "Do you prefer chatting with friends online or offline " "Do you want to post a photo or a short video " Let students practice reading these questions aloud. Divide students into pairs. Each pair makes up 3 - 4 alternative questions about social networking and asks each other. Indefinite pronouns: Write sentences with different indefinite pronouns on the blackboard, for example, "Someone is looking for you on WeChat." "Is there anything new on your social media today " "Everyone should use social media properly." Explain the meaning and usage of each indefinite pronoun. Do a fill - in - the - blank exercise. Give students some sentences with blanks, and they need to choose the correct indefinite pronouns to fill in. For example, "_____ is singing in the classroom. (someone / anyone)" "I don't have _____ to do now. (something / anything)" 4. Listening Practice (10 minutes) Play a short dialogue recording about two students discussing their social networking experiences. The dialogue contains the new vocabulary and grammar points just learned. Before playing the recording, ask students to read the questions related to the dialogue on the PPT. The questions may be like: "What do they like to do on social media " "Do they have any problems with social networking " Play the recording for the first time. Students just listen. Then play it again, and this time students answer the questions. Check the answers with the whole class. Play the recording one more time if necessary, pausing at key points to let students understand better. 5. Summary and Homework (10 minutes) Summarize the key vocabulary, grammar points, and main content of this class with students. Write the key points on the blackboard again for students to copy down. Assign homework: Ask students to write a short passage about their own social networking experiences, using at least 5 new words and 3 alternative questions or sentences with indefinite pronouns. Encourage students to search for more information about social networking in English, such as reading English articles or watching English videos about social networking, and be ready to share in the next class. 教学反思 After this class, I found that students showed great interest in the topic of social networking, which made the lead - in and vocabulary presentation parts go smoothly. However, in the grammar explanation part, especially when it came to the usage of indefinite pronouns, some students still seemed confused. Although the fill - in - the - blank exercise helped to some extent, more real - life examples and interactive activities might be needed in the future. The listening practice was effective in helping students reinforce what they had learned. But next time, I could add more diverse listening materials, like interviews or monologues about social networking, to further improve students' listening skills. In general, this class achieved most of the teaching objectives, but there is still room for improvement in grammar teaching methods and the diversity of teaching materials. I will adjust my teaching plan accordingly for the next class related to this unit. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
