It's well known that china has the world's biggest population with one point three billion people and equivalent to the a population of northern n south america, australia, new zealand, western europe combined. A big population may sound like a big problem, but in fact IT can bring many big advantages. A large workforce has helped china become one of the world's biggest contest and just one generation. This has lifted eight hundred million people out of poverty and enable china to build the largest education system in the world. But a big population also means greater pressure on resources. Finding the baLance between population resources is an issue that all governments face. Many introduced policies designed to affect the growth or demographic . of their population. China's most famous population policy was the one . child policy. In two thousand fifteen, china revised the population law and encouraged couples to have two children, which could mean an extra fifteen million babies born in the next five years when china already has the world's biggest population. Why encourage an increase . in the birthright? Before the one child policy, a typical chinese family had around six children, but the government worried that china's high birth rate was incompatible with plans to improve living standards. The answer, a national campaign to promote birth control. So by the end of the one thousand nine seventies, a typical chinese family at only three children, but the population was close to one billion, and with two thirds of IT, under thirty more babies were just around the corner. So in one thousand nine hundred and eighty, the one child policy was implemented fast forward to the twenty first century, and china's birthrate has more than halved, which means the growth of the population is so down as expected, and the quality of life for people across china has reason, but china's one child policy also had unintended consequences. The size of its working age population is falling. Around fifteen percent of the population is now over retirement age. Most chinese people rely heavily on their regular child. There are now also more men that women in china. And by twenty twenty, there will be thirty million more men of marriage able age than women. Some people believe that the one child policy has also family life, creating a generation of little emperors who are both adored and pressure ized by their . tiger moms and dance. China now wants to redress the baLance by encouraging couples to have two children. The population is expected to peak at around one point four billion. Experts believe the change will help to counterbaLance the falling birthrate, the shrinking workforce, aging . population. The more people the Better, not necessarily. Some countries have large populations. This has been both good and bad for these countries. For large populations have helped them develop, but have caused them some serious problems as well. Because of the large populations, there was less living space for each family in some countries. And what was worse, IT was difficult for lots of people to find jobs. At the same time, the large population caused many other difficulties for the whole nation. For example, IT was hard for the countries to supply water and energy to satisfy people's daily needs. Many cities are more crowded, and the traffic is much heavier too. So far, some governments have taken many measures to solve the problems, and they worked well. Thanks to the efforts of the governments, people's living conditions are improving rapidly. The natural environment is becoming Better and Better.
