Ability Objectives Develop students' listening skills to understand short dialogues and passages about homes. Improve students' speaking skills to introduce their own homes and family members' activities fluently. Enhance students' reading ability to extract key information from texts about homes. Cultivate students' writing skills to write a short passage about their sweet homes. 3. Emotional Objectives Foster students' love for their homes and family members, and enhance their sense of family responsibility. Encourage students to respect different family cultures and living environments. 教学重难点 1. Teaching Key Points The vocabulary related to rooms and daily activities. The correct use of sentence patterns for describing homes and family members' activities. Understanding and reading the text about introducing a home. 2. Teaching Difficult Points Differentiating the use of "There is" and "There are" according to the number of objects. Using present continuous tense correctly to describe family members' ongoing activities. Helping students to organize their thoughts and express themselves coherently in speaking and writing about their homes. 1. Vocabulary Rooms: living room (the place where family members usually watch TV, chat, etc.), dining room (where people eat meals), study (a room for reading and studying), bedroom (a room for sleeping), bathroom (a room with a toilet, bathtub or shower), kitchen (where people cook food), garden (an outdoor area with plants and flowers), balcony (an outdoor platform attached to a building). Daily activities: watch TV, read a book, do homework, cook, eat, sleep, play games, etc. 2. Sentence Patterns Introducing a room: This is my living room. It's big and comfortable. Describing the existence of something: There is a TV in the living room. There are three bedrooms in my house. Describing family members' activities: My father is watching TV in the living room. My mother is cooking in the kitchen. I am doing my homework in the study. 3. Grammar There be structure: Affirmative form: There is + singular countable noun/ uncountable noun + place. There are + plural countable nouns + place. Negative form: There isn't + singular countable noun/ uncountable noun + place. There aren't + plural countable nouns + place. Interrogative form: Is there + singular countable noun/ uncountable noun + place? Are there + plural countable nouns + place? Present continuous tense: Affirmative form: Subject + be (am/is/are) + verb - ing + other components. Negative form: Subject + be (am/is/are) + not + verb - ing + other components. Interrogative form: Be (Am/Is/Are) + subject + verb - ing + other components? 教学过程 1. Warming - up (5 minutes) Greet the students as usual. Then show some pictures of different types of houses on PPT, such as apartments, detached houses, and townhouses. Ask students: "What kind of house do you live in? Do you like your home? Why?" Encourage several students to share their ideas briefly. This activity can arouse students' interest in the topic of "home" and create a relaxed class atmosphere. 2. Presentation (15 minutes) Vocabulary teaching: Present pictures of different rooms one by one on PPT, and teach the corresponding English words. For example, when showing the picture of a living room, say: "This is a living room. We often watch TV and chat with family members in the living room." Read the word "living room" several times, and ask students to repeat after you. Use the same method to teach other room - related words like dining room, study, etc. After teaching the words, play a "Flash - card game". Show the flash - cards of room names quickly and let students read them out as fast as possible. This can help students remember the words better. Sentence pattern teaching: Use the pictures of rooms again. Point to the picture of a living room with a TV in it and say: "Look, there is a TV in the living room." Write the sentence on the blackboard. Explain the structure "There is... in the..." means something exists in a certain place. Then change the object, for example, say: "There is a sofa in the living room." Let students imitate to make sentences. Next, show a picture of a family member doing an activity in a room. For example, a picture of a father reading a newspaper in the living room. Say: "My father is reading a newspaper in the living room." Write the sentence on the blackboard and explain the present continuous tense structure "Subject + be + verb - ing + place". Then ask students to describe other pictures using this sentence pattern. 3. Text learning (15 minutes) Pre - reading: Show the title of the text "My Sweet Home" on PPT. Ask students to predict what the text might be about. Then show some pictures related to the text content, such as a girl's house, her family members in different rooms, and let students discuss in pairs what they think the girl will say about her home in the text. While - reading: First, let students listen to the text recording carefully and answer the general question: "How many people are there in the girl's family? What rooms are there in her house?" Then, ask students to read the text silently and answer some detailed questions on PPT, such as "What is the girl's father doing in the living room?" "Where is the girl's mother?" Walk around the classroom to help students if they have difficulties. After that, explain some new words and difficult sentences in the text, such as "balcony" and "My grandparents are watering the flowers in the garden." Make sure students can understand the text thoroughly. Finally, let students read the text aloud together, paying attention to pronunciation and intonation. Post - reading: Divide students into groups of four. Ask each group to discuss and summarize the girl's home according to the text, and then fill in a form on PPT, including information about the rooms, family members and their activities. One student from each group comes to the front to present their form. 4. Practice (7 minutes) Speaking practice: Let students work in pairs. Each student needs to introduce their own home to their partner, using the words and sentence patterns they have learned. They can talk about the rooms in their homes, what family members are doing in different rooms, etc. Walk around and listen to their conversations, giving guidance and encouragement. Then, invite several pairs of students to come to the front of the class and share their conversations with the whole class. Writing practice: Ask students to write a short passage about their sweet homes. Provide them with an outline on PPT, such as "My home has... rooms. In the living room, there is... My father/mother usually... in the... I love my sweet home because...". Give students about 3 minutes to write. After they finish, ask them to exchange their passages with their partners and check for grammar and spelling mistakes. 5. Summary and Homework (3 minutes) Summary: Summarize the key points of this lesson with students, including the new vocabulary about rooms and daily activities, the sentence patterns for describing homes and family members' activities, as well as the main content of the text. Ask students if they have any questions. Homework: Ask students to make a simple poster about their homes. They can draw pictures of their homes and write some English sentences to introduce it. They will share their posters in the next class. Let students recite the new words and text they learned in this class. 教学反思 After this lesson, students showed a high level of enthusiasm in the learning process. The use of pictures and real - life examples in the teaching of vocabulary and sentence patterns made the knowledge more vivid and easier for students to understand. However, there are still some aspects that need improvement. In the vocabulary teaching, although the flash - card game was effective in helping students remember the words, some students still had difficulty in pronouncing long words like "bathroom" and "balcony". In the future, more time should be spent on individual pronunciation correction. During the speaking practice, some students were a bit shy and did not actively participate. In the next class, more encouragement and more interesting speaking tasks should be designed to make every student willing to open their mouths and speak English. In the writing practice, some students made mistakes in using the "There be" structure and present continuous tense. This indicates that more grammar exercises and writing guidance are needed in subsequent lessons. Overall, based on this reflection, adjustments will be made to the teaching methods and content in future lessons to better meet the learning needs of students. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
