My Family Rules
Every family has its own rules. So does my family. So does my family. My parents make many rules for me to follow. For example, they believe my study should be put first, so I have to spend most of my time on it.(家规1)I can’t watch TV even on weekends.(家规2)What’s more, I am not allowed to hang out with my friends even on weekends.(家规3)
However,I think some of the rules should be changed.Firstly, I disagree that I can’t watch TV, because not all TV programs are bad for students.I should be allowed to watch educational TV programs, such as documentaries. And I should be allowed to watch them on weekends.(看法1及原因)Secondly, I don’t agree that I am not allowed to hang out with friends, which makes life boring.I will feel lonely without friends.I should be given a chance to hang out with friends on weekends as long as I don’t stay out too late.(看法2及原因)
All in all,I think parents should care more about children’s health than study. What we need is not only good grades but also good bodies and minds.(总结和呼吁)

七、阅读理解
Many parents like setting family rules for their kids. When kids break rules, parents will give them some punishments, which aren't included in rules. In fact, when you tell your kids about a new rule, you should talk with them about the price they should pay for breaking the rule—what the punishment will be.
Punishments you set should be reasonable, without violence or threat(暴力或威胁). For example, if you find your son smoking, you may limit his social activities for two weeks. You should punish your kids only in ways you have discussed before the rule is broken. A study shows that the most popular punishment is to limit(限制) kids' TV time.
It's understandable that you'll be angry when rules are broken. Punishment is a way to express your anger, but it's not a very good one. Sharing your feelings of anger, disappointment or sadness with your kids can have a better effect(效果) on them. Try to do that. When your kids know what they have done has made you sad, they will feel compunctious. When they know their actions influence you greatly, they will obey rules better.
Rules are made to help your kids behave better. If your rules or ways of punishment make them unhappy or under a lot of pressure, will they be helpful?

Passage 1
I’m Lisa. When it comes to rules, I don’t have too many at home. My parents trust me a lot. They know I have a good set of moral (道德的) values and that I won’t do anything crazy. But that doesn’t mean I’m completely free to do whatever I want.
Most of the rules that I have are about driving. When I got my driver’s license (驾照), my parents made some rules to keep me safe. I was required to tell them where I was going, who I was with and when I’d be home. Another rule was making sure I had only one passenger in the car.
In my opinion, there is no need to set too many rules for teenagers. This only results in more disagreements in the parent-child relationship. Over the years, I’ve noticed that my friends with stricter parents are more likely to have a terrible relationship.
I’m lucky to have parents who not only trust me but also care about my safety. They don’t smother (使窒息) me with rules, but talk to me about the things I should and shouldn’t do. That way, I know how to stay out of trouble and make good choices.
But I’m not saying that a lack (缺乏) of rules for teens works for everyone. Being free doesn’t mean you can do anything without thinking about the results. But don’t smother your kids with family rules and results. Talking through the results of their actions has a better chance of keeping your kids out of trouble.
So, though I don’t have lots of rules, I still know what’s right and wrong. And that’s what’s important.
11.Lisa’s parents don’t set too many rules for her because ________.
A.they don’t want to control her B.they want her to live a free life
C.they believe she is a good girl D.they are busy raising other children
12.Which of the following rules must Lisa follow?
A.Don’t drive alone. B.Choose friends carefully.
C.Always carry the driver’s license. D.Share her return time with her parents.
13.What does the underlined word “This” refer to?
A.Being wise parents. B.Keeping kids out of trouble.
C.Setting too many rules for teenagers. D.Having a good set of moral values.
14.According to Lisa, parents can help their kids avoid getting into trouble by ________.
A.giving their kids more freedom B.making stricter family rules
C.telling them the results of their actions D.letting their kids make their own decisions
15.What’s the writer’s attitude towards family rules?
A.Less is more. B.The more, the better.
C.Each family has its own rules. D.No family rules are the best rule.
Passage 2
When I was a child, my family had a lot of rules, such as house rules, out-in-public rules and so on. But they were all good roles; like “Don’t run in the house”. How I wish I had listened to that rule! I could remember that on a Saturday night, I was hurt badly and was taken to the hospital, I had a scar (伤疤) on my leg and it didn’t disappear although 17 years had passed.
My parents were very strict. I hated that when I was young. But now I really thank their rules. Their rules have made me become a graceful lady (优雅的女士).
Now, my husband and I are thinking about having our family rules. In fact, we have had some rules. For example, we don’t go to bed at night with unresolved conflict (未解决的矛盾). I really like this rule, although sometimes we have to stay up late because of that.
When thinking about our family rules, we want to make it fun to follow the rules. Instead of “don’ts”, we come up with a lot of “dos”, such as “Share freely” “Tell the truth” and “Put others before yourself”. We want our family rules to be fun, and we can get education from rules. We will make wall art from our family rules so that we will see them every day.

七、阅读单选
As young students, you have many dreams. These dreams can be very big, such as winning the Nobel Prize; they can also be small, such as becoming one of the best students in your class. Once you find a dream, what do you do with it? Do you ever try to make your dream real?
Andrew Matews, an Australian writer, tells us that making your dreams real is life’s biggest challenge. You may think you’re not very good at some school subjects, or that it’s impossible for you to become a writer. Those kinds of ideas stop you from realizing your dream.
In fact, everyone can realize his dream. The first thing you must do is to remember what your dream is. Don’t let it leave your heart. Keep telling yourself what you want every day and then your dream will come true faster. You should know that a big dream is, in fact, made up of many small dreams.
You must also never give up your dream. There will be difficulties on the road to your dreams. But the biggest difficulty comes from you. You need to decide what is the most important. Studying instead of watching TV will help you to get better exam results, while saving five yuan instead of buying an ice cream means you can buy a new book.
As you get closer to your dream, it may change a little. This is good as you have the chance to learn something more useful and find new hobbies.
