教学过程
A. Warming - up (5 minutes)
Greet the students as usual.
Show some pictures of famous fairy - tale characters, such as Snow White, Cinderella, and ask students to name them in English. Then start a simple discussion: "Do you like fairy tales? Why or why not?" Encourage several students to share their opinions.
B. Pre - reading (10 minutes)
Present the new words and phrases on the PPT one by one. Teach the pronunciation, meaning, and usage through examples. For example, when teaching "brave", show a picture of a superhero and say "Look at this superhero. He is very brave. He always saves people in danger." Let students repeat the words and phrases after the teacher several times.
Divide the students into pairs. Give each pair a set of word cards with new words and phrases. One student shows a card, and the other student tries to use the word or phrase in a sentence. The teacher walks around the classroom to monitor and offer help if necessary.
C. While - reading (15 minutes)
Skimming
Ask students to quickly read the passage without paying attention to details. Then answer the question: "What is the main idea of this story?" Give them 2 - 3 minutes to read and think. Call some students to share their answers.
Scanning
Present some detailed questions on the PPT, such as "Who was in the castle?", "What did the prince do to save the princess?", "How did the story end?" Let students read the passage carefully again and find the answers to these questions. Give them about 5 minutes. Then check the answers together.
Detailed Reading
Read the passage sentence by sentence with the students. Explain the key sentences and the use of the simple past tense in the story. For example, "The prince fought bravely against the dragon and finally rescued the princess." Analyze why "fought" and "rescued" are in the past tense. Let students imitate the sentences and make their own sentences using the simple past tense.
D. Post - reading (10 minutes)
Retelling
Divide the students into groups of four. Ask each group to retell the story according to the key points on the blackboard. One student starts, and then the others take turns to continue. The teacher can provide some guiding words or pictures to help them. After that, invite some groups to come to the front of the class and retell the story for the whole class.
Discussion
Pose some discussion questions, such as "What do you think of the prince? Why?", "If you were the prince, would you do the same thing? Why or why not?" Let the students discuss in their groups. Encourage them to express their own opinions and support their views with reasons. Then ask some representatives from each group to share their discussion results.
E. Summary and Homework (5 minutes)
Summary
Summarize the key points of this class with the students, including new words, phrases, the simple past tense, and the main idea of the story. Ask students to recall and repeat after the teacher.
Homework
Ask students to write a short summary of the story they learned in class, about 80 - 100 words. They should use the simple past tense correctly.
Encourage students to read another English fairy - tale story after class and be ready to share it in the next class.
教学反思
After this class, I found that most students were interested in the topic of fairy - tale stories, which made the warming - up and discussion parts go smoothly. The pre - reading vocabulary teaching method of using pictures and pair - work was effective in helping students quickly master the new words. However, during the while - reading part, some students still had difficulty in understanding long and complex sentences, especially those with multiple clauses. In the future, I need to strengthen the training of sentence - analysis skills. The post - reading retelling and discussion activities actively engaged students, but some students were a bit shy to express their opinions in English. I should create a more relaxed and supportive atmosphere to encourage them to speak more. Overall, through this class, students have achieved certain progress in vocabulary, reading, speaking, and writing, but there is still room for improvement in teaching methods and student participation.
