第一节 写作 (共1小题,每小题15 分,满分15分)
With the development of modern technology, the way of learning is changing. I think I still prefer the traditional learning in the classroom.
First, there is a fixed timetable. A clear plan is often made by a school, so I don’t need to think about how to arrange when to learn different subjects. Second, we can have face to face communication with both teachers and classmates. Third, there are colorful activities in class. In this way, I can learn the new knowledge happily. What’s more, learning in the classroom can help me develop a sense of team spirit, so I can learn how to get along with others.
However, when I study in the classroom, sometimes I can’t follow my teacher. And learning in the classroom can’t provide enough resources for me to choose from.

If you’ve ever used pi in math class, you probably used the number 3.14. In fact, the number for pi is much longer. Pi is called an irrational number (无理数) because the digits (数位) after the decimal point (小数点) never end or repeat.
In 2015, a young man from India named Rajveer Meena set a world record by memorizing 70,000 digits of pi. But pi is much longer than that.
On Pi Day ( March 14th) this year, a company called Solidigm said it calculated (计算) pi to105 trillion (万亿) digits. And the 105 trillionth digit is 6. It broke the record for how many digits of pi we know.
Pi is really useful for circles in math. It helps us connect the circumference with the diameter of a circle.
Even NASA scientists use pi for their work of studying space. But they only need about 15 digits of pi for their calculations.
Calculating pi also has another important use. It’s how scientists test new computer programs and data storage systems (数据存储系统).
Solidigm’s calculation of pi took around 75 days to finish. The company’s owner Brian Beeler said that the achievement needed a lot of work. They had to plan the calculation very carefully.
This isn’t the first time that Solidigm has calculated pi. In 2022, Google Cloud calculated 100 trillion digits of pi. Solidigm matched that in 2023.
In the future, we’ll keep finding more and more digits of pi. We’ll never be able to calculate all the digits of pi because it goes on forever. But it still helps us see how great computers can be.
23.What can we learn from Paragraph 1?
A.What pi is. B.How pi works. C.How long pi is.
24.What’ s the use of the chart (图表)?
A.To show pi is long.
B.To explain one use of pi.
C.To compare two different circles.
25.What does the underlined word “that” in Paragraph 8 refer to?
A.Memorizing 70,000 digits of pi.
B.Spending 75 days calculating pi.
C.Calculating 100 trillion digits of pi.
26.Why did the writer write the passage?
A.To collect opinions about learning math.
B.To introduce a new development in math.
C.To encourage students to study math harder.

We all know that a lot of people and I mean a lot of people—learn another language and get really good at it. I’m not including bilingual (双语的) people whose parents speak different languages to them from when they’re born. They’re lucky—they don’t even have to try, right? No, I mean people who learn at school or even later and then get so good at their second language that they become famous for it.
Here’s an example: a Polish man called Joseph Conrad. Well, his “real” name was Józef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski and he was born in 1857. When he was in his twenties, he became a sailor (水手) and started to learn English. Then he went to live in England. He stayed there for the rest of his life and he always spoke English with an accent (口音). So what? Well, he changed his name to Joseph Conrad and he wrote novels in English. He wrote about twenty novels that a lot of people think are some of the greatest novels in English.
Another example? OK. Børge Rosenbaum was born in Denmark in 1909. He was a very good pianist— he gave his first concert when he was just eight years old. Later, he started to tell jokes when he played the piano and he became a piano—playing comedian —in Danish, of course. Then when the Second World War started, he managed to run from Denmark and he went to the USA.He was 31, he had only $20 in his pocket (口袋) and he spoke no English at all. So, to learn English, he watched films and went to watch American comedians. Then he changed his name to Victor Borge, started doing his own comedy acts and became a famous TV comedian —telling jokes in his second language!
Then perhaps you can add the Swedish group ABBA, who became incredibly (极其) famous for writing and singing songs in English. There must be others, but I don’t know any more. Do you?
27.What did Joseph Conrad do in his twenties? ________
A.He went to Poland. B.He changed his name. C.He began to learn English.
28.From the passage, we know that some of Joseph’s novels are ________
A.in Polish B.worth reading C.hard to understand
29.Which of the following is TRUE about Victor Borge? ________
A.He became a famous TV comedian at last.
B.He had his first concert when he was a teenager.
C.He joined the army in the Second World War.
30.What did Joseph Conrad and Victor Borge have in common? ________
A.They both came from a bilingual family.
B.They both liked the Swedish group
C.They both worked hard to improve their English.
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
Some people learn a second language easily. 31 How can you help yourself learn a new language such as English? There are several ways to make English learning a little easier and more interesting.
The first step is to feel good about English learning. 32 Be patient. You do not have to understand everything at once. It is natural to make mistakes when you learn something new. 33 In other words, do not worry about taking risks.
The second step is to practice your English. 34 For example, write a note or keep a diary every day. Try to build the habit of writing in English, and you will feel comfortable expressing your ideas in English. After several weeks, you will see that your writing is improved. Speak English every day. You can practice with our classmates after class. You will make mistakes, but you will become comfortable to talk in English.
The third step is to keep a record of your language learning. You can write it in your note. After each class, think about what you have done. 35 Did you understand anything the teacher explained? Perhaps the lesson was difficult, but you’ve tried to understand it. Write these in your note.
A.It is necessary for English learning.
B.Other people have trouble learning a new language.
C.Did you answer a question correctly?
D.Believe that you can learn.
E.We can learn from our mistakes.

第三节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面的短文并回答问题。
In the past, many students practiced English with their pen friends-they sent letters to people around the world. However, we now send emails to others and chat with people who live quite faraway on the Internet.
Here’s some advice on how to succeed in your online language exchanges(交流).
How to start a conversation when speaking English online? When you speak to somebody online, start by asking “Yes or No” questions. Use questions such as “Do you like…?” or “Can you…?” or “Have you ever…?”
Remember your goal. You are trying to learn about the other person. Think about things you enjoy and share your own experiences to find that you have similar interests. If you only ask questions, you will sound like a policeman or a policewoman!
How to keep a conversation going? Listen carefully. In that way, you can get to know somebody well. When you know him or her well, you will have more to talk about. Then ask follow-up questions. After you “listen”, use what you “hear” to learn more about that person. Use “open ended(开放性)” questions, such as “What do you think of…?” or “What was the most interesting experience…?”
Besides, remember some basic rules for online language exchanges:
Be patient. Do not try to find a good friend right away.
Be careful. Don’t give any personal information on the Internet, especially your address, telephone number, and even your real name. It’s very dangerous.
46.How many pieces of advice does the writer give us?
47.Who did many students practice English with in the past?
48.How can we find that we have similar interests?
49.Is giving personal information online safe according to the writer?
50.What does the writer mainly want to tell us?

【答案】23.A 24.B 25.C 26.B
【导语】本文主要介绍了π的最新计算进展以及其在计算机测试中的应用。
23.细节理解题。根据“Pi is called an irrational number (无理数) because the digits (数位) after the decimal point (小数点) never end or repeat”可知,从第一段我们可以了解到π是什么。故选A。
24.推理判断题。根据“Pi is really useful for circles in math.”和图表可知,图表说明了π在数学中对圆的应用。故选B。
25.代词指代题。根据“This isn’t the first time that Solidigm has calculated pi. In 2022, Google Cloud calculated 100 trillion digits of pi. Solidigm matched that in 2023.”

Do you?

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version(1):
With the development of modern technology, the way of learning is changing. I think I still prefer the traditional learning in the classroom.
First, there is a fixed timetable. A clear plan is often made by a school, so I don’t need to think about how to arrange when to learn different subjects. Second, we can have facetoface communication with both teachers and classmates.
One possible version(2):
With the development of modern technology, the way of learning is changing. I think I like the modern learning on the Internet better.
First, I have a flexible timetable. I can make a plan by myself. In this way, I can have more free time to arrange my life. Second, I can have online communication with people from all over the world. They may share something interesting about their lives with me. Besides, online learning also provides me with rich learning resources. With the Internet, I can learn at any place. That’s really wonderful!
However, I think learning online for a long time is bad for my eyes. Also, sometimes I can’t control myself and I will do something like chatting with my friends or playing computer games. That will have a bad influence on my study.
