Facial。 32. Teachers should try to create an atmosphere ________ students can enjoy learning. 故填where。 33. The young man tends to express negative feelings in the face of frustrations, ________ makes his friends down as well. 故填which。 34. It turned out ________ years of jogging had a far-reaching influence on his fitness. 故填that。 35. The young man made a joke ________ (pure) to amuse us and meant no harm at all. 36. The actor was staring at the note with an ________(astonish) look on his face. 37. ________ (bath) in golden sunlight, the small valley looks inviting. Bathed。 38. It was with great courage and determination ________ I finally crossed the finishing line. 由It was和句子意思可知,句子是强调句,结构是“It is/was+被强调的部分+who/that+其他部分”,被强调的是“with great courage and determination”,因此空格处用that。故填that。 39. We were walking along the riverbank ________ we heard someone crying for help. This is ________ my father has taught me — to always face difficulties and hope for the best. 故填what。 1. As I grew older, my craving (渴望) intensified, leading me to seek the sweet comfort of chocolate, Coke, and Cheese Cheetos. These sugary delights became my escape from the stress and worries in my life. It wasn’t until my reflection in the mirror no longer matched the lively, intelligent person I felt inside that I realized the severity of my situation. Clothes that once fit me perfectly are now uncomfortably light, and climbing a flght of stairs leaves me breathless. Not to mention that, in the past two to three years, my weight gain has influenced my self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being. In my search for a healthier lifestyle, I decided to turn to zero-calorie drinks, believing they would be a healthier alternative to my beloved sugary drinks. However, my research led me to an alarming discovery of the dangers of aspartame, a commonly used artificial sweetener found in many zero-calorie drinks. Despite its lack of calories, aspartame has been linked to many health concerns including headaches, dizziness, and even more severe conditions. More studies are needed to learn about artificial sweeteners’ long-term effects on our health. Still, knowing this put me off zero-calorie drinks for a while! With newfound knowledge and determination, I began my journey, to break free from sugar addiction. The journey was challenging, with persistent cravings and constant temptations (诱惑). However, armed with healthier snack alternatives, such as fruit and nuts, and the support of loved ones, I gradually weaned myself off the sugar roller coaster. I am rediscovering some of the joys of a more balanced lifestyle. Regular exercise became my companion, boosting my energy levels and reducing stress. 44. Of course, sometimes it’s hard to separate one from the other. Task conflict happens when people have different ideas of what needs to be done. It points to potential differences in opinion about everything you can imagine that is essential for a group: mission, priorities of tasks, decision-making mechanisms, etc. Task conflict is not a problem when people realize the source of the conflict is the task and not the people. Community members must resolve tension with everyone’s voice being heard and acknowledged. Conflict resolution, of course, takes empathy (共情) and emotional intelligence. However, this does not mean that the solution must include everyone’s opinion. After the conversation, everyone should feel that they had a fair chance to express their opinion and that it was taken seriously by others. Conflict between people is tricky because it’s attacking a person’s self-worth. Often this form of relationship conflict is set off when two conditions are met: Firstly, people have different values or are holding different assumptions, and secondly, neither party can see beyond their own prejudices. In short, everyone involved believes that they are right and is unwilling to change their position. With relationship conflict, the person is perceived (视为) to be the problem and is attacked by others. Each party assumes that most people are on their side and that the other person is acting out of self-interest. This eventually leads to people disagreeing with each other, not for the task’s sake but to prove the other person is wrong. Sometimes conflict originates from a task, People might prefer different tools or different approaches. If this initial dispute (争论) is ignored or not dealt with appropriately, the relatively easy task conflict turns into a more complex relationship conflict. A lot of what happens when relationship conflict plays out is reactive and not reflective. People stop thinking and act without considering the consequences. Remember that every culture has its own way of handling conflict. Some people consider it dishonest if a dispute is not addressed openly while in other cultures, such a discussion will not be acceptable. 48. How can task conflict be managed effectively? A. By discussing personal feelings openly. B. By listening to different views respectfully. C. By gathering as many opinions as possible. D. By keeping discussions brief and to the point. 49. What do we know about relationship conflict? A. It focuses on task-related difference. B. It involves personal criticism. C. It results in power struggles. D. It prioritizes logic over empathy. 50. What does the author try to stress in the last paragraph? A. Disagreement is unavoidable. B. Disputes should be addressed timely. C. Culture can resolve community conflict. D. Conflict resolution varies across cultures. 51. What is a suitable title for the text? A. Resolving Group Conflict B. Understanding Different Views C. Unpacking Community Tension D. Recognizing the Source of Conflict 【答案】48. B 49. B 50. D 51. 根据第二段关键句“Task conflict is not a problem when people realize the source of the conflict is the task and not the people. Community members must resolve tension with everyone’s voice being heard and acknowledged. 根据第四段关键句“With relationship conflict, the person is perceived (视为) to be the problem and is attacked by others. 根据最后一段关键句“Remember that every culture has its own way of handling conflict. 根据第二段关键句“Task conflict happens when people have different ideas of what needs to be done. 和第四段关键句“With relationship conflict, the person is perceived (视为) to be the problem and is attacked by others. Perhaps the simplest answer to this question is that art touches us emotionally. Art is powerful because it can potentially influence our culture, politics, and even the economy. When we see a powerful work of art, you feel it touching deep within your core, giving us the power to make real-life changes. It has the power to educate people about almost anything. ___52___ During the pandemic, some artists created vivid and impressive paintings to spread the message of wearing a mask, which was well received by the whole public. It breaks cultural, social, and economic barriers. While art hardly really solves poverty or promotes social justice on its own, it can be used as a fair playing field for conversation and expression. ___53___ Therefore, anyone can learn to appreciate art regardless of their social status, economic standing, or political background. B My affair with sugar began innocently enough in my childhood, when I indulged (沉迷) in sweet treats as rewards for good behavior by overworked but loving parents, or as a means to celebrate special occasions. 44. What initially attracted the author to sugar? A. Sugary delights. B. Childhood rewards. C. Stressful situations. D. Personal achievements. 45. What can be learned about zero-calorie drinks? A. They are free of artificial sweeteners. B. They can contribute to weight loss. C. They are highly favored by the market. D. They pose a potential threat to health. 46. What does the underlined part mean in the last paragraph? A. Stopped consuming sugar. B. Switched to sugar replacements. C. Monitored my sugar levels. D. Learned the tricks of sugar control. 47. Which of the following can best describe the author? A. Self-aware and reflective. B. Inquiring but careless. C. Determined but impatient. D. Self-disciplined and ambitious. C Conflict in communities is usually about the task or the person.
