3 Grammar
Simple present tense: When expressing hobbies and interests, we usually use the simple present tense. The basic structure is: subject + verb 原形 (when the subject is I, you, we, they) /subject + verb - s/es (when the subject is he, she, it). For example, "He likes playing football."
教学过程
1 Warming - up (5 minutes)
Greet the students and show some pictures on the PPT, including people doing different hobbies like reading, playing football, painting, etc.
Ask students: "Look at these pictures. Can you tell me what these people are doing? And do you like doing these things?" Encourage students to answer actively.
2 Revision (8 minutes)
Review the vocabulary about hobbies and interests learned in this unit. Write some key words on the blackboard, such as "collect", "hobby", "interest", etc., and ask students to recall and make sentences with these words.
Review the simple present tense. Give some examples on the PPT, like "I play the piano every day." and "She watches TV in the evening." Then, let students change the subjects of these sentences and make new sentences.
3 Presentation (10 minutes)
Vocabulary and Phrase Teaching
Show new pictures related to hobbies and interests on the PPT, such as a person collecting stamps, another playing the guitar. Teach new words and phrases: "collect stamps", "play the guitar", etc. Explain the meaning and pronunciation of each word or phrase, and let students read after the teacher several times.
Use some real objects if possible. For example, if there is a guitar in the classroom, bring it out and teach the phrase "play the guitar" more vividly.
Sentence Pattern Teaching
Write the common sentence patterns for expressing hobbies and interests on the blackboard: "I like to do...", "My hobby is...", etc.
Explain the usage of each sentence pattern with examples. For example, for "I like to do...", say "I like to swim in summer. Swimming can make me feel cool." Let students imitate and make their own sentences.
Divide students into pairs. Each pair takes turns to use these sentence patterns to talk about their hobbies, and the other listens and gives simple responses.
4 Practice (12 minutes)
Group Discussion
Divide students into groups of four or five. Give each group a topic: "If you can have a new hobby, what would it be and why?"
Let students discuss in groups. Encourage them to use the learned vocabulary, phrases and sentence patterns. Walk around the classroom, listen to their discussions, and give necessary guidance and help.
After the discussion, ask each group to choose a representative to report the group's discussion results to the whole class.
Role - play
Create a situation: Suppose there is a hobby fair. Students need to introduce their hobbies to others at the fair.
Let students form pairs again. One student acts as a visitor at the hobby fair, and the other acts as a hobby exhibitor. They have a conversation about hobbies.
After a few minutes, ask some pairs to come to the front of the classroom and perform their role - plays for the class. The rest of the students watch and listen carefully, and then give their evaluations.
5 Summary (3 minutes)
Summarize the key points of this class with students, including important vocabulary, phrases, sentence patterns and the usage of the simple present tense when expressing hobbies and interests.
Emphasize the importance of using English to communicate about hobbies and interests in daily life, which can not only improve English skills but also help us understand others better.
6 Homework (2 minutes)
Ask students to write a short passage about their hobbies, using at least five sentences. They need to introduce their hobbies, why they like them and what benefits they can get from these hobbies.
Encourage students to talk about their hobbies with their family members in English at home.
教学反思
After this class, generally, most students can actively participate in various activities, and they show great interest in discussing hobbies and interests. Through group discussions and role - plays, students' oral expression ability has been effectively improved. However, there are still some aspects that need to be improved.
Some students are still a bit shy and nervous during the oral communication, especially when performing role - plays in front of the whole class. In the future, more opportunities should be provided for these students to practice speaking in a relatively small and relaxed environment first, gradually building up their confidence.
In terms of language expression, although students can use the learned vocabulary and sentence patterns, some students' descriptions are relatively simple and lack of vividness. Next time, more sample sentences and vivid adjectives or adverbs can be given to guide students to make their expressions more colorful.
In addition, during the group discussion, there are a few students who do not actively participate. In the following classes, it is necessary to pay more attention to these students, understand their reasons, and encourage them to actively engage in group activities, so as to ensure that every student can make progress in English learning.
