(2025·河南周口·二模)In some science fiction films, people in the future have their own robots. They help with the housework and do the most unpleasant jobs.
Some scientists believe that there will be such robots in the future. However, they agree it may take hundreds of years. Scientists are now trying to make robots do the same things as us. Japanese companies have already made robots walk. Chinese companies have made robots dance Errenzhuan like people at the Spring Festival Gala in 2025. Robot scientists James White thinks that it is hard for a robot. But other scientists disagree. They even think that robots will be able to talk to people in 25 to 50 years.
Nowadays, there are already robots working in factories. These robots look like huge arms. They do simple jobs over and over again. People wouldn’t like to do such jobs and would get bored. But robots will never get bored.
In the future, there will be more robots everywhere and humans will have less work to do. Robots will have many different shapes. Some will look like humans and others might look like snakes. After an earthquake, a snake robot could help look for people under buildings.

(2025·山东滨州·二模)What will the world of tomorrow be like? Many people today believe that technology is going to help solve some problems we have today. New technology may solve old problems, and it may also create new ones. No technology is perfect. Each has advantages and disadvantages. Here are three examples.
When we dream about the future, many of us think that we will be able to fly to the sky in our own flying cars. We could fly at 480 km per hour, avoiding traffic lights and busy roads. However, if too many flying cars are in the air, there will be trouble with traffic control.
3D printing is another new technology for the future.3D printers are already used to make life-size models of car parts (部件), and man-made body parts, like ears. As we move into the future, 3D printing will change the way we make things and the way we treat sick people. The disadvantage is that such a machine is very expensive.
Finally, people are trying to make a robot suit. This is an electronic suit. It allows people to lift heavy things and walk a long way. It might help people walk again after an illness or an accident. However, one disadvantage at the moment is the cost.
It is easy to imagine a future. We will be able to fly to work, print out a new pair of shoes or lift a car above our heads. Although there are some problems to solve, we can certainly dream of a world. In this world, technology makes people’s life easier and safer, and it can solve some of the most difficult problems we have today.

Chen comes from Nizhuhe village located at the border of Yunnan and Guizhou provinces. For years, Chen and her classmates walked on muddy routes to reach their school high on the top of the cliffs (悬崖).
However, this challenging journey has now changed into a wonderful tour. They first ride a 6-minute scenic bus and then take a lift that climbs 268 metres. Next, they take a cable car ride that climbs over 200 metres. After a 1-kilometre walk, they arrive at the school in just under 30 minutes.
The change began with the introduction of the eco-cultural tourism in 2017. The project helped build a cliffside lift in 2018 and a cable car in 2022. They were made free for the villagers there.

Dear past humans,
I am writing to you from the future, a time beyond your imagination. I want to share with you what our world has become and how it differs from the one you live in.
Firstly, let me tell you that we have made amazing progress in many areas. Medicine has developed to the point where we have found ways to cure (治愈) almost every disease that once caused pains or troubles. We have learned to use clean, renewable energy sources (来源) and have greatly reduced our harm to the environment. We have also made big progress in AI and space exploration, allowing us to unlock the mysteries of the universe.
However, even with all this progress, our world still faces many challenges. The gap (差距) between the rich and the poor has grown wider. Some people find it hard to pay for food, medicine, and school supplies, but still try their best to make ends meet by cutting costs wherever they can. Climate (气候) change has led to many natural disasters and forced many people to leave their homes. And while our efforts in AI have shown to be a big step forward, we must be careful to make sure that it does not endanger humanity.
But perhaps the most important thing I want to share with you is that we have realized the importance of taking responsibility. We have come to understand that our actions and decisions shape the lives of others and the future of our planet. We are working together to build a more fair world where everyone has chances to get what they need. I hope that you can take these lessons to heart and fight for yourselves and the future. The choices you make today will make a difference to generations (一代人) to come. Let us work together to build a better tomorrow.
Yours sincerely,
A future human

Xingfu Town, located in a remote area in Gansu Province, used to be a place with limited development opportunities. The local kids had to endure a long-and-arduous journey to reach their school, which was far away from their homes. They had to walk along narrow and bumpy paths, and in bad weather, it was even more challenging.
A significant change took place in 2018. The local government, recognizing the town’s potential, launched an innovative cultural-tourism integration project. They restored ancient buildings, created cultural exhibition halls, and developed unique folk-custom experience areas.
By 2023, Xingfu Town had transformed into a popular tourist destination. A new-type “smart school bus” system was also established for the students. (2025·山东·二模)
Have you ever noticed this? Whether in stores or parks, the women’s restroom always seems very busy. Not only are they crowded inside, but long lines often go outside as well. Meanwhile, going to the men’s restroom appears much more smoothly. People come and go quickly, and you hardly see long lines going outside.
The reasons are varied. First, men’s ;and women’s needs in restrooms are not the same. A study in the World Toilet Organization shows that, due to physical differences, the typical time women spend in the restroom is about 2.3 times longer than that of men. Women also often use public restrooms for other purposes, such as fixing their appearance or taking care of children.
To meet these extra needs, women’s restrooms are often designed with less space per user than men’s. This makes the traditional 1:1 ratio between men’s and women’s restroom space unfair. Liang Ji, an expert from the China Association of Urban Environmental Sanitation, suggests that a 1:2 ratio would be more effective.
In recent years, public awareness of this problem has grown. To make it easier, cities start by raising public understanding. When using public spaces, everyone should consider others’ needs while meeting their own.
In addition, more cities should be encouraged to support female-friendly restrooms. Reports show that some public restrooms in Shenzhen, Guangdong, have already used a 1:2 ratio of male-to-female restroom spaces and have also added smart screens to help visitors check available spaces.
In Changsha, Hunan, two extra women-only restrooms have been added to a railway station’s public restroom areas. During a trip to Jilin, Jilin province, I also noticed a public restroom that included a well-designed rest area where visitors could read books or charge their phones, making the waiting time more comfortable.
These well-planned public services have received a lot of praise. But more importantly, when women feel more comfortable and valued, our cities will become more welcoming and peaceful places to live.
1.Why does the writer describe the scene of long lines outside women’s restrooms at the start?
A.To show how many women use restrooms. B.To talk about the importance of restrooms.
C.To explain why men’s restrooms are better. D.To make readers understand and care.
2.Why do women often have to wait in long lines outside public restrooms?

When we dream about the future, many of us think that we will be able to fly to the sky in our own flying cars. We could fly at 480 km per hour, avoiding traffic lights and busy roads. However, if too many flying cars are in the air, there will be trouble with traffic control.

3.What ratio of male-to-female restroom space does Liang Ji suggest?
A.1:1 B.2:1 C.1:2 D.2:3

B.By designing women’s restrooms with less space per user.

D.By setting up comfortable rest areas in public restrooms.
5.What’s the best title of the passage?
