What will Shenzhen
be like in the future?
With the development of science and technology, Our life has changed a lot, Can you imagine what life will be in the future?
First, schools might be very different. Maybe we’ll have robot teachers who can explain difficult knowledge in fun ways, like using 3D projections to show dinosaurs walking in the classroom. And our desks could be smart—they can light up when we need to read, and even check our homework automatically!
With the development of science and technology, Our life has changed a lot, Can you imagine what life will be in the future?
Then, transportation will be super convenient. Flying cars might be common, so we won’t get stuck in traffic anymore. We could also have self-driving buses that take us to school safely, and maybe even “tube trains” that go really fast, letting us visit friends in another city in just 10 minutes.
With the development of science and technology, Our life has changed a lot, Can you imagine what life will be in the future?
At home, smart devices will help us a lot. The fridge will tell us when we’re out of milk, and the robot cleaner will tidy up our rooms while we’re at school. Our beds might even adjust to make us sleep better, and the TV could let us “join” a concert or a sports game as if we’re really there!

How will the internet change our lives in the future?
Think
Before you read
Nowadays, people use smartphones, smartwatches and smart home devices. In the future, even more things will be connected to the internet. The network of interconnected smart devices is called the Internet of Things (IoT物联网).
Look at the picture below and discuss what a smart home is like.
How do these smart devices in the home probably connect to work together?
They likely connect through Wi - Fi to form a smart system.
If the activity sensor detects no one in a room, what smart device might act accordingly? And how?
The lights might turn off automatically to save energy. Or the air - conditioning could adjust to an energy - saving mode.
Why is a smart home with these devices more convenient for people’s daily life? Give an example.
For example, the door lock can be controlled remotely, so you don’t need to worry if you forget to lock the door when going out. Or the thermometer helps adjust indoor temperature precisely for a more comfortable living environment.
In a real - life smart home, how would the robot cleaner make cleaning more efficient compared to a regular one?
The robot cleaner can work automatically at set times, avoid obstacles with sensors, and maybe even send cleaning status reports to the homeowner’s phone.

PART THIRD
Read the transcript of a podcast interview to learn about the internet will further change our lives.
Host: Our guest today is Dr Li, a technology expert. Dr. Li has studied how
the internet will further change our lives in the future?
Dr Li: That's right. The internet has brought big changes to everyday life.
For example, e-learning and mobile payment have changed the way
we study and shop. In the future, even more things will be connected
to the internet, so life will continue to change.
Host: Can you give us some examples?
Dr Li: Take health for example. We'll probably wear small devices all the
time, and they'll check our health and warn us about health problems.
With this information, doctors can provide better treatment.
Host: Interesting! Will the internet help improve the environment?
Dr Li: Yes! As more things become connected to the internet, our cities will
become smart cities. Smart cities will be more eco-friendly than cities
today. One of the most important changes will come in energy use.
Different devices will communicate and share data with each other.
This will help them save energy. For example, smart rubbish bins will
automatically(自动地) tell the smart city network when they are full.
This data will allow the rubbish collection company to plan better
collection routes (路线).
Host: Will smart cities improve our lives in other ways?
Dr Li: I think the biggest change will be in transport. Our roads will be
much safer in the future, and traffic will flow more smoothly. There
will be fewer accidents because cars will drive themselves, and they
will share data with the smart city network. With this data, traffic
lights can change the timing according to the number of cars on the
road.
Host: That's amazing. And will this really be possible?
Dr Li: Yes, it will. We've already started doing some of these things!
Listen for Reading What examples were mentioned about future?
