Unit 8 Let's celebrate!-Integration This unit focuses on the theme of festivals around the world. The Integration part aims to integrate the knowledge and skills learned in previous sections. It contains texts, dialogues, and tasks related to different festivals, such as the Double Ninth Festival, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas, and the Spring Festival. Through various activities like reading, listening, speaking, and discussing, students are expected to further understand the celebration ways, cultural connotations, and significance of these festivals. They will also be guided to compare and contrast festivals from different cultures and explore the common values behind them. 教学目标 Students can master the key words and phrases related to festivals, such as "Double Ninth Festival", "climb mountains", "admire the chrysanthemums", "Mother's Day", "Father's Day", "Christmas", "Spring Festival", "get together", "give presents", etc. Enable students to understand and use the sentence patterns for talking about festivals, like "When is...?", "What do people do on...?", "How do they celebrate...?", "I like/love/enjoy... because...". Help students know about the basic information of different festivals, including their time, celebration activities, and cultural meanings. 教学重难点 A. I like/love/enjoy... because... I like the Spring Festival because I can get red envelopes and play with my cousins. 教学过程 A. Lead - in (5 minutes) Greet the students and show some pictures of different festivals on the PPT, such as colorful lanterns for the Lantern Festival, Santa Claus for Christmas, and children in costumes for Halloween. Ask students: "Boys and girls, look at these pictures. Can you tell me the names of these festivals? And which one is your favorite?" Encourage several students to answer. Then say: "Today, we are going to explore more interesting festivals and how people celebrate them in different parts of the world." B. Reading (12 minutes) Present the text about the Double Ninth Festival on the screen. Let students read it quickly and answer the following questions: When is the Double Ninth Festival? What do people usually do on this festival? Why do people celebrate it? After students finish reading, check the answers together. Explain some new words and phrases in the text, like "climb mountains", "admire the chrysanthemums", "wear the zhuyu plant", and the cultural meaning of respecting the elders. Divide students into small groups of 4 - 5. Ask each group to discuss and share if their families have any special traditions on the Double Ninth Festival. Then invite some groups to report their discussions to the class. C. Listening (8 minutes) Tell students: "Now, let's listen to a dialogue between Simon and Annie about Mother's Day and Father's Day. Listen carefully and answer the questions on the screen." When is Mother's Day? When is Father's Day? What do children usually do on these two days? Play the recording for the first time. Students listen and try to get a general idea. Then play it again, and students write down their answers. Check the answers with the whole class. Play the recording one more time if necessary, and let students imitate the pronunciation and intonation of the speakers. D. Speaking (10 minutes) Show another dialogue between Simon and Will about Christmas and the Spring Festival on the PPT. Let two students read the dialogue aloud. Divide students into pairs. Ask them to practice the dialogue first, and then change the festivals and make up their own dialogues. They can use the sentence patterns they learned, such as "How do they celebrate...?", "What do people do on...?". Walk around the classroom to offer help and guidance. After a few minutes, invite several pairs to come to the front of the class and act out their dialogues. Give praise and encouragement to the students. E. Summary and Homework (10 minutes) Summary (5 minutes) Summarize the key points of this class with the students, including the vocabulary, sentence patterns, and the main information about different festivals. Ask students to share what they have learned and what they are most interested in during this class. Homework (5 minutes) Ask students to write a short passage about their favorite festival. They should include the time of the festival, how people celebrate it, and why they like it. Encourage students to search for more information about an international festival they are interested in and share it with the class next time. 教学反思 After this class, I think the following aspects are worthy of reflection. In terms of teaching methods, the combination of reading, listening, speaking, and group - work activities can effectively mobilize students' enthusiasm and help them master knowledge. However, during the group - work discussion, some students were a bit shy and less involved. In the future, more guidance and encouragement should be given to those students to make them more active in class. Regarding the teaching content, students showed great interest in learning about different festivals. But when it came to comparing the cultural connotations of Chinese and Western festivals, some students had difficulty expressing their views clearly. This indicates that more in - depth cultural explanations and language training are needed. Also, the time for students to share their own festival experiences could be extended to let them have more opportunities to practice speaking English. Overall, continuous improvement and adjustment of teaching strategies are necessary to better meet the learning needs of students. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
